Project Valentine

A friend of mine from Underground Photography put together this video as a tribute to Lawrence King "Larry" who was shot and killed on Feb 13th 2008, after asking another boy in his class to be his Valentine. Larry was only 15, his killer was only 14.

This is a labor of love for Corey and all those that toke part in the video so please when you have the time stop by and watch the video and leave a comment...thank you

If this post is in the wrong place I do apologize you can :buttkick later.

Yes it is Kiki and it is something that should remain in our thoughts and continue to be talked about. Education is the only way to stop hate and if we don't continue to talk about Larry and what happened to him we are only laying the ground work for it to happen again. *steps off soap box*

I completely agree, Red. Silence is a killer.

It's disturbing, upsetting...... and horrific. But shouldn't be swept under the carpet. It shouldn't have happened at all but the only way to make sure it doesn't happen again is address it.

I'm very soap box myself about all these tragedies also a week after Lawrence king there was

Simmie Williams Jr, 17, was gunned down last weekend on a street corner in Broward County, Florida.

Williams was wearing a dress when attacked and is believed to have been gay or transgender.

I've just bumped Larry Kings story up to the top of the Newsdom because KiKi missed this one.

There was another very Sad case of a British Ten year old Trans child Cameron McWilliams who killed themselves because they were in the wrong body.

:cry :sorry All those who have fallen or been lost :rainbowh

It sickens me to think that when I was young (back in the dark ages) people where locked away in mental hospitals for being gay so we stayed in the closet . Now that we are out and proud we are shot, beaten or suicidal because we are different (gay)? What is wrong with this picture, what is wrong with society? What is wrong with us, the gay community that we shun our own and how can we expect main stream society to except us if we can't except and stand up for out own? It tis sad and wrong and I only hope that there will come a time when crimes like these will no longer happen.

I often say I'm a dinosaur Lol

I know what you mean I've been around long enough to remember some of the bad old days when I experienced random violence & homophobia. I dont want anyone to have to face homophobia but I get angered when I see complacency from Younger Butches & Femmes who have grown in a slightly more tolerant enviroment & haven't been directly touched by these issues. Politics is personal the current generation can be a bit " me give me mine " about stuff so I like to be a bit of a bridge between the bad old days & show future potentials aswell.

I know a gay male couple (clients of ours) who have been together for 50 yrs two lovely gentlemen their relationship was illegal for the first ten years they were together. Female homosexuality was never prosecuted in this country but Male Homosexuality was for many years.

I often say that dirt and I have the same birth date..lol

The bad old days, yes I can remember some of those myself. I know a lady that is several years older than I that spent 5 year in a mental hospital and was give shock therapy to "cure" her homosexual tendencies. She lost so much and still lives in fear that they will come for her again.

Yes I agree that there needs to be a bridge between the bad old days and the here and now. If we forget where we came from how will we ever know when we get to a better place or appreciate were we are?

Well I say I'm immortal :D

& I agree with you .There needs to be a balance so none of us have to live in fear, whilst pushing forward for a better future. but to grow a tree needs strong roots, so our younger branches must appreciate how they got the fledgling freedoms they enjoy :rainbowh

I also want to support project valentine :gayflag

& agree with everything that has been said in this thread. I do read the newsroom everyday & some of the things happening around the world beggars belief. For me I dont see how anyone can turn a blind eye to these things what happens in one country can always happen in ones own country be that by a shift in politics or because some crazy violent B**tard singles out you or a loved one. :rainbowh

Thanks Temerity

There are still 85 countries where homosexuality is a prosecutable offence it is sickening & some countries still have the death penalty for homosexuality.
