Tributes paid to legendary gay DJ Posted Image 27th March 2008 15:02 PinkNews.co.uk staff writer One of London's best known scene figures has died. DJ Tallulah had been a club DJ for forty years and was a regular at Heaven. Tributes have been paid by many clubbers. Born in 1948 in Hamburg to English parents, he returned to live with his grandmother in Bexley three years later. He immersed himself in London's underground gay scene as a teenager, and by the early 1970s was established as a leading DJ. In 2007 he became the first inductee into the House Of Homosexual Culture's Hall Of Fame. Clubbing websites have played host to a range of tributes to DJ Tallulah. "I am heartbroken to lose such a wonderful friend," wrote Tony on discodamaged blog. "I was with him at Heaven last week for my 54th birthday and sat in the DP lounge while he played a four hour camp and fabulous set. As always he looked incredibly dandy and smiled all night and shocked me by refusing a glass of champagne! "He was a great bitching partner and my thoughts go out to those closer to him and the many thousands of fans he has across the world. Sleep well lulu." http://www.pinknews.co.uk/news/articles/2005-7240.html |
