hi all.
thanks Bakedalasker for the mention.
to those who posted about Tax Credit problems can i ask you to email me via my website.
Jenni, the payments you mention made between april and june are whats called interim payments, and are commonly getting written off when people push it (well writen off easier than the rest of it) especially when you point out to them that they were based on THEIR 2 year old income figures and you didn't apply for them.
don't been fobbed of with the 'you took to long to tell us' routine. their is no obligation to inform them of any income changes until the end of the tax year, and you are give up a couple of months grace too. but they are trying to get people to believe it is their fault.
the ludicrous system operates (sic) the way it does because it is adminstered by the Tax office, so it actually works like a Tax ie income not finialised until the end of the year, so actually they don't know how much TC you are due until the end of the tax year, 12 months after they have started paying it to you. for some reason they thought this would work!!!!
appeal as soon as you are notified of an overpayment and they have to stop 'recovery' until its sorted.
those being overpaid now are not expected to repay it if their income changes by less then £25,000 but if it happened in 02/03 or 03/04 then for some reason they don't see fit to apply that policy to us!
there are about 2 hundred other causes of the overpayments as well, mainly technical problems and lack of training.
