it could well be a tax fiddle. if they did the car for £1 it would mean that in total they would have to pay £1.17 to the tax man with VAT added. If they did it for £1000 they would owe the tax man £1175 with VAT. it sounds quite dodgy to me, especially if they have been doing it with a lot of cars. It means that the money they should be giving the tax man is infact going towards their profits. I would contact the HMRC (details on their website) and see what they say |
