We bought a car from DAF in October 2004 and after having to replace the full exhaust, buy a new battery and have the full clutch replaced we decided to get rid of it after 2 years in November 2006. At this point we were told we would have to contiue to pay the PPIs. We are in the ssame situation as many others as we were told that if we didn't get the 'optional' PPIs then we wouldn't have received the finance for the car. We did as your site suggested and went to our local CAB who advised us to send a letter recorded delivery to the CEO at DAF. Which we did. We have received no letter back but have had 3 phone calls from them demanding the money. Each time I told them I was doing nothing until I have written confirmation from them to say I had no choice but to pay. The first 2 times I was told they would contact head office and get back to me. The third time they rang - 26th January - the very cocky man on the other end of the phone said "Oh look you've had long enough to pay I'm just going to close your account". Those words have stuck in my head. I went to say something but he hung up on me! Yesterday we received a letter from Gold Solicitors in the form of a County Court Claim form for the £1800 PPIs. After reading another one of your forum repsonses I realised they took our £500 deposit off the PPIs. Does this mean it brings the contract into dispute? We are going to go back to CAB but can't get ther til Friday. Can you offer any advise? I have signed the petition today. |
