The first thing I would do is get a report written by the garage that had a look at your car. I would then approach Trading Standards to see where you stand. I think the timescale might be a problem here but TS will be able to inform you better. You are at the stage where you can return the car to YCC. Unfortunately you need to return it is a reasonable condition which means getting the engine sorted. Did you take out any of the insurances? If you did and you return the car you will be liable for them as well. Did you take out the breakdown cover? If you did it might be worth contacting them and informing what the garage discovered. you never know they might take up the issue with YCC themselves. Definately get the garage to write up a report. Let us know what you end up doing.
