Hi there,

I used to work for Welcome and left January last year. In some cases we were able to short settle a car finance, usually either 25%, 50% or 75%. When this happens all payments have to be applied at the same time as it is not closed in the normal way.

If the cheque had bounced then the payments (including the garages) would be taken off the account and the cleared payment would be reaplied as a normal payment.

Your options are as follows:
1. Refinance the loan (not recomended as very expensive)
2. Let the account go to the local collections unit who maybe able to short settle as they have more options (more desperate) but you will have a default recorded against you.
3. Proberley the hardest but best option, fight for a short settlement with the office. refuse to pay. If they get too pushy just quote about harrasment and the Admin of justice act and that you will go to H/O to complain. They will soon make an offer when they believe they will not get any money from you.
