This is one I can't understand either unless they want to see an income and expenditure sheet to show what you could be paying a month. As you say though if you have a letter from DAF to say you could pay reduced payments then this should stand and it should never have been passed to a DCA. Did you default on these payments? I would get to the CAB as soon as you can and ask their advice. Like you said if all you owe is £1500 for the insurances, this is all you should be paying. The £235 you quote do you know what this is for? Most people are only ever asked to pay an £80 collection fee (although this is not legal either) but how can they justify £235?
