After termination of my account with Yes Car Credit at the 50% mark I was requested to pay yes car credit a monthly figure of £60.48p per month, all as detailed in their letter dated 21 July 2005. I spoke with their representative the day I received the letter and agreed to set up a standing order to the bank account detailed in that letter. The commencement date of the standing order was 03 August 2005. The outstanding amount was for £1708.25p that relates to the insurance portion of the original loan. This I am still paying on the 03 of each month. I have not defaulted and to the best of my knowledge I have done everything that I have been asked to do in line with the original agreement. Steve Davies acting for Hollis Briggs Solicitors, formerly Edwards Geldard Solicitors said that I now owe Go Debt limited £1708.25p and that his company was acting on their behalf. He also said that Go debt limited would accept no offer at all and would only accept the amount paid in full. Failure to do so would result in my bankruptcy and the loss of my house. He suggested that I borrow money to cover the debt. I am loath to borrow money and pay interest on borrowed money that I have already paid interest on. The reason I terminated the original agreement was in an attempt to consolidate my finances and unfortunately I am still only in a position to pay £60.48p per month. I really need some help here please. |

BH, What we are finding as this site goes on is how low the standards are at Yes Car Credit. It seems to me each department does not talk to each other. It might be in your case one of their departments have handed over the debt to GoDebt while the other department who you spoke to has not told anyone else about the arrangement. So my advice would be: - a. Phone Charlie MacDonald, Customer Services Director, at their head office in Horsham. Tell him your story and the arrangement you have. This really should be the end of it. b. Failing that go to your local Citizens Advice Bureau and ask to speak to one of their Specialist Advisors, referring to Yes Car Credit and Godebt. I would also report GoDebt/Hollis Briggs to the OFT going on your post, see our banner for details. Their actions are considered oppressive and this type of practice needs to be stamped out. Good luck and please keep us informed. |
