Doorstep lender Provident Financial has told staff to double contributions into the firm's final salary pension plan or leave the scheme.
More than 2,000 staff will see contributions rise from 7% to 14%.

The firm said it had taken the step to secure its long term finances and that workers were consulted on the change.

the provident must be worth millions, and my guess is the more they have the more they want, and greed is the word, but the valued customer will foot the bill for there greed, i know people sometimes have to use the likes of provident, but what a good feeling it would be not to use them and see them fall flat on there faces and come crawling back to the valued customer who by the way actually keeps there heads above water,as if it was not for the customer there would be no provident, they want to remember this. and by the way i have been a valued customer with the provident for a few years, but with the assosiation with yes car credit, the promise i make with the provident I WILL NEVER USE YOU AGAIN AND PEOPLE I KNOW WHO HAVE USED YOU SAY THE SAME. SO THAT AT LEAST MAKES ME HAPPY THAT WE ARE NOT CONTRIBUTING TO YOUR RIP OFF RATES AND THE GREED THAT SEEMS TO KEEP YOU GOING.
