This company is a shambles. I have been with them for 3 months. Broadband been off for over two weeks. TV off for 10 days. Customer care is zero. BBC Watchdog last night was the tip of the iceberg http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/reports/cons..._20060111.shtml |

Hi Marcus, Until feb last year, I worked as an installation engineer for NTL. It does not surprise me that you encountered these problems. All they want to do is get your custom and then they dont give a damn about you afterwards. (sounds like another company we all know!! smile ) The reps will tell the customers anything to get a sale. I had cases where people were told that they could have the cable tv without having to have a cable put in. When we started to dig the garden to lay the cable, the customer would come out and start yelling that they had been promised cable-less tv!!!! It was that bad that when people saw my van parked outside a customers house and even my own home, other customers would give me abuse as they were being treated badly by NTL "customer services" A couple of times I had to pack up my tools and throw them in the van and race away because of threats of violence. The employees are also treated as badly as the customers. I had to buy all my own tools (£1200) There was also a £1500 insurance excess that had to be paid by me in the event of an accident in the van.I once had £50 taken from my wages to replace a mirror which was smashed by a passing lorry while my van was parked outside a customers house. Also, if a customer was not in when they were due to have the services installed, or they cancelled on the day, the cost would be deducted from my bonus! I can honestly say that it is the worst job that I have ever had. Even though I could have had free NTL phone and tv, I still had SKY and BT. I believe that there is a website called forums.nthell.co.uk (or something like that). Sorry, dont know how to do it to get a direct link!! Buzz  |
