I've just had a bad experience with Carcraft. To cut a long story short, My wife and I had bought a Landrover Freelander from them about 7 months ago. When we bought the car we were then asked about extending their two year free warrenty for a three year warrenty at cost. Now... I pointed out to to the sales guy that the cover only states it would pay the first £750 of any claim so what would happen if my engine blew up? The sales guy replied and I quote "You would still be covered because you would be claiming for each individual part of the engine, therefore, you could make 10 claims on the same job at £750 each". On the strength of this we purchased the extra years cover.

Yesterday morning I was on my way to work and my head gasket went. The car was towed to a Landrover dealer where they diagnosed it requires a new had and the cost would be £2,400 + VAT. At this point I wasn't worried because I had my NAC cover that Carcraft had sold me. Landrover called me this morning to tell me that NAC would only cover the first £750 of the total cost. I am furious and feel stiched up and a bit stupid. I called NAC and explained how there product was presented to me. They said "Sorry you were missinformed but there's nothing we can do" Next step was I called Car craft who told me "There is nothing they could do about it" We then called traiding standards who said "It's your word against theirs but they will look into it for us"

Now this car is a Freelander XEI on an 2000(X) plate with 55K on the clock. I have also taken this issue up with Landrover as it is a well known problem with this particular car. The issue was brought up on watch do a couple of years ago and their are all sorts of partitions going around refering to recent HG failures on this car.

I paid 10K for this car 8 months ago (inc warrenty)

It's recently been valued at £4-5K (trade)

It's about to cost me another 2K to get fixed

I still ow £9,200 on it.

Yes, I'm stupid.

Thanks Car craft. I WILL be taking this further

Regards

Gary Martin
