I purchased a car through YES Car Credit on 31st October 2004.

As I could not afford the monthly payments I asked for the car to be collected which was done on 15th September 2005. I was advised that no further payments would be due.

You can imagine my surprise when I received a letter last week from Red Castle Recoveries advising that I owed £7528.81

I asked for details from them as I left my wife in August 2005 and this was the first I had heard from anyone about this. I asked for documentation to be sent to me which I have received today.

When I signed the agreement I was pressured to do so by the salesman and told not to bother reading it as I only had to worry about the monthly payments. Stupidly I did not read it.

It showed that I had an opening balance of £12344.16 which included £4200.52 for insurances!!

I paid a total of £2014.35 up to 12th August 2005 and they recovered £3035.00 on the car and charged me £235 to collect

I have been given 7 daus to discuss repayment. I do not have the money, do not own any property and do not know how to deal with this.

Also, the agreement is in the name or myself and my wife so are we jointly liable?

If you are disputing the insurance's - agreement, that Yes Car Credit seems to have mis sold you, you need to contact Red Castle Recoveries and explain the situatiuon.

If you have a read through this post. Our forum member Kevin was also in dispute with Yes Car Credit , he contacted Red Castle Recoveries, and the file was sent back to YCC for them to sort out the issues.

A call to Citizens Advice is also a must if you have been mis sold insurance's, ask to talk to the in-house debt adviser who will in turn log your complaint with the special advice unit who are at present dealing with Direct Auto Finance contracts.

Good luck and keep us informed how you get on
