bought a car from ycc in novemebr 2004, took car home 2 days later rang them informing them that the air conditioning wasnt working, no keys for my locking wheel hubs, dashboard lights didnt work amongst other things. informed ycc that if they didnt sort the car out i would pay for it! had telephone call informing me that they would pick the car up and fix the faults. day came, took day off work.....guesswhat? they never turned up. after sending them stroppy letter and few phone calls promised to sort car out. never done!!!! january 2005 ycc had car clamped overnight and collectd the next day! had letter from hollis briggs in november 2005 asking for payment, december 2006 had letter demanding payment or face statutory demand /bankruptcy proceedings! in end january 2006 agreed settlement figure with them. havent heard form them since.. no telephone number listed for them! no website address.... got the £6000 cash in my solicitors bank account after lengthy hold up by ex partners solicitors. do i let solicitors pay them or do i have cash myself???? any ideas what to do next??? |

Piratez101 Your solicitor has agreed a payment figure of £6000. You had the car for 3 months, had problems which you reported to YCC who did nothing, had it repossess then practically a year later you get a statutory demand from Hollis Briggs. This sounds a bit harsh and a waste of £6000. What sort of fight did your brief put up? If its in your solicitors hands then Hollis Briggs will deal with them direct. In the meantime have you considered visiting the CAB to get a second opinion. Some solicitors dont seem to be on the ball as others. The CAB are our recommend avenue. I would see what they have to say before allowing your solicitor to hand any money over. |

Baked Thanks for your post. He mentions that he has money in his solicitor's bank account but not that his solicitor is acting for him on this matter. He talks about his matrimonial situation. There is nothing improper about discussing this with him if he wants to get the matter finally resolved. William Rhodes |
