Dear Guys, I read with much interest with regards to the bad selling by yes car credit (ycc). Upon reading this website, I only know that I can return my car (I have paid over 28 months of instalment). Despite the cut off payment for returning the car was at 24 months. I was told by ycc that the excess amount that I have paid would not be returned to me. Well to be honest, I am quite please to be getting rid of YCC (but not the car). I received a letter from YCC about the option of returning the car and the need to pay the balance of the GAP insurance and mechanical breakdown insurance. In fact, I am not even aware that I had a mechanical breakdown insurance that I have been paying for. I am asked to pay £134.84 (lump sum) or £175.83 (through instalments). Firstly I am unsure as to why I still need to pay for the whole amount of the GAP insurance and mechanical breakdown, when the car is no longer with me. YCC replied that they have paid for the required payment upfront! I think this is a lame reason to further rip off customers. The condition of the mechanical breakdown states that the car need to be service every 6000 miles (contradict manufacturer's recommendation). I did not service my car every 6000 miles, this then invalidate my mechanical brakdown, but I still do need to pay for my mechanical breakdown. 2 week before I returned my car, I had problems with my ignition coil. I had it replaced by the dealer for £150. I tried a "fast one" with YCC today with regards to making a claim. I was told that I cannot make a claim as the car is no longer with me. I then said that I am still paying for the mechanical breakdown when the car is no longer with me. YCC then refuse to speak to me further. I spoke to the mechanical breakdown service, they said that I cannot make a claim if the car is already repaired. Whatever, anyway the mechanical breakdown waranty would have been invalidated as I service my car at 10000 miles. Who in the right frame of mind be servicing the car at every 6000 miles, unless I have an Austin Martin. Having said that, if I can afford an Austin Martin I would not have gone to YCC!!! I need advice with regards to our right to: Payment of the GAP Payment of the mechanical breakdown service. Please advise. |

right anwar, first things first. you need to check in your warranty booklet about this but mine said that as long as the car was serviced at the recommended manufacturers intervals (you could go over by 500 miles), that was fine. YCC tried that you must have it serviced every 6000 miles b t with me and I told them to stick it. I had my car serviced every 12000miles which was FIATs recommended interval. If I'd hve had it done every 6000 miles it would have had about 4 every year! so, as long as you were having it done at these intervals it wouldn't invalidate your warranty - the booklet says this (I bet you weren't told anyway when you signed for the warranty that there were these conditions).yes, YCC do say that they pay for the insurance policies upfront for the whole four years! we believe this to be complete rubbish but as yet cannot prove it. Most people on here have asked for proof of this fact in the form of insurance certificates (something the law states you should have within 21 days of signing up for them). As yet, nobody has had a response from YCC/DAF regarding this evidence. Letters and requests are just being ignored. Now to us that proves there are no such documents or any evidence but as I said we cannot prove anything. with regards still having to pay for these policies even though you don't have the car anymore, then technically YCC aren't breaking any rules. What you have signed is known as a "Non-Cancellable agreement." This is because you signed the agreement on YES Car's premises. This is how they get away with cornering you for these payments still. My best advice to you is to get down to your local Trading Standards department. Take your agreement and any documentation relating to your warranty and get them to look through it for you. Ask them about whether or not your agreement is even enforceable under the Consumer Credit Act 1974. Some people on here are finding that their agreements aren't so worth asking. I would get down there ASAP because you don't want to be paying out for these things if you don't have to. Good Luck!

i missed the fact , that it has to be serviced every 6000 miles OR every 6 moths! i made maybe 2000 miles in a first year (i bought another car soon after the car from yes car credit started breaking down), so i invalidated my warranty straight away :-) i tried to make a claim few weeks after the purchase, but it didn't work for me. the cambelt, camshaft sensor and crank sensor went and they told me, that it was just "wear and tear" (also one tire was slashed and i came home from YCC with a flat tire). so why they sold me a car without checking those?! |
