I POSTED THIS ON CIAO IN 04/05: READ ON THEN SEE THE LATEST BELOW!

I will try to keep this brief......

Dec 03 I purchased a car from Yes Car Credit (YCC hereafter), and was pleasently suprised when they phoned me up and said 'we are pleased to accept your application'.

At only 19 years old (18 at the time) I was vunerable, and just excited about getting a new car after passing my driving test.

As you will read in other reviews, the customer service was rubbish, but unlike others I was in the Portsmouth Showroom from 1000hrs until 1730hrs. Not impressed!

Anyway, drove my car out the showroom after part exchanging my vehicle for a mere £10! - Not that they tell you how much they are giving you for it, but in the heat of the day, you forget about the old car and focus on your new same day drive away one! Used the P/X for my deposit and they offered my £170 per month based on my income/expenditure.

So, drove away and had no problems whatsoever. Over the weeks I founf the car was too small (being a corsa) and asked if I could return it for another one, which they did after much persuation.

So, thats the good bit.

I then drive away in a Suzuki Swift - Yes not much bigger, but in my price range and more leg room (being 6ft 9in!!)

Again, no problems with the car, quite happy. Until it rained! The rear window seal was allowing water to slip through into the car. So I phone YCC and they said I could get it into a local garage (45 miles away!). But as the car was under 3 years old, it was covered under the manufacturers warranty. So, YCC agreed I could have the car repaired under this.

3 months after leaving the showroom, the drivers side window (electric) popped out of its runner. Common problem?

Again, I phoned up YCC and again it went into the local Suzuki garage uner the manufacturers warranty. Between April and July the car went into Suzuki 12 times for the same problem. The back window continued to leak, and the wiring beneath the dashboard were rattling.

By this time I was fuming. The car had to be in the garage 12 times, which meant no car for 12 full days, which meant late into work and early finish. A result in loosing a total of 24 hours pay.

YCC were very kind and after speaking to the Managing Director personally, it was agreed I would recieve a compensation cheque of one months balance £168.95. Great!! I won!

Wait there is more..................

The car was fine for a further 4 months, then guess what? the problems came back. I did not bother with repair and demanded a refund or for YCC to take the car back as the Sales of Goods Act 1994 states 'should be fit for purpose', and regardless of the condition the car was bought in, this problem was not my fault!

YCC refused to take action but to repair the problems, and by this time I was far from happy with a repair. I have cancelled the agreement as I was fed up with all the hassle, and YCC collected the vehicle (charging £250 for collection)! YCC refused to take action because they had already given me £168 compo and deemed the matter closed regadless of the fact the problems continued after the compo was given!

Just to make clear a few things:

1. Optional Non-cancellable Protections - THEY DON'T ASK, THEY GIVE IT TO YOU ANYWAY

2. GAP Insurance - THEY DON'T ASK, THEY GIVE IT TO YOU ANYWAY

3. P/X - THEY DON'T TELL YOU

All YCC are interested in is getting your money. No customer service and no help!!

I am currently working with Trading Standards so fingers crossed! Oh an by the way, for a car which cost £3500, they now want over £5000 for cancellation of the aqgreement and to repay all the interest and protection.

I have never been with such a bad company, and over the past year, I have never been so worried about my finances!

The 121 point check - rubbish!!!!

NOW IN 2006 AN UPDATE:

Now in Sep 06, I an still in a very sticky situation with GoDEBT. All the local authorities said I need to speak toa solciter and he said it would cost lots of ££££s. So, when I finaly find out my rights etc Go Debt is on the case. As of today they are threatening a bankcrupty charge in the full knowing that my financial circumstances are in the drain. All I want is to take my lever arch file full of paperwork to show the bull s**h I have had from YCC and GD I am sure they would reconsider everything, but no, they are never interested in your opinion. Despite the fact they break several rules in the OFT Debt Collection Guidance!

I wish I had the money to sue to bastards

Nice long one for you! Any views?

I would contact stephensons solicitors because you may be entitled to legal aid to fund your case against them. I would email them (details at top pf screen) with the whole situation including your finances at present and see what they say.
