Can anyone tell me if Approved car finance has taken over yes car finance?My grandson who has just managed to get a low paid job but needed a car for work purchased a car from Approved car finance three weeks ago. After 13 days if broke down.The exhaust pipe had blown and he is having ongoing problems with the engine. he has paid £132 to get his car back but the problems haven't been solved. He has three small children and is really struggling but trying to keep this job. The set up seems the same as yes car, he had to take out £1599 extra policy for breakdown and sickness cover. Can any one help or give advice. |

Easy one this Mrs Knight. Give your local Trading Standards (TS) a call. They will throw the Sales of Goods Act at them. I would say it would be best for your grandson to let them TS deal with Approved Car. What we have found is that when an individual tries taking on these guys they seem to flob them off. Once the mighty TS get involved, different game. I'm not too sure who underwrites for Approved Car but they are nothing to do with Yes Car. Saying that though they all act the same and dont like the regulating authorities. As your grandson has only had his car for a few weeks and has had these problems, TS will have a field day with Approved. You will hear the term "fit for use" meaning when you buy a car from these guys it should be fit for its purpose. Not in your sons case is it. Good luck, please keep us informed. |

Approved Car Finance replaced the old Direct Car Finance. The company that used to be in competition with YCC. Jim Davidson used to do the adverts for them. Many of the branches were closed, but a company called The Funding Corporation bought the business. They trade with about 8 branches around the UK. They operate in the same way as YCC, they only offer personal loans on cars, no HP agreements, so the car can't be handed back. APR'S are as high as 45 percent, in real terms an absolute rip off and without a doubt a company to stay well away from!!
