This story appeared in the Penman & Sommerlad Investigate column in the Daily Mirror on October 19: MOVING on to night shifts meant that John Yates needed a loan for a car. He applied to Yes Loans Ltd, based in Cwmbran, Gwent, who said he could borrow the money at 20 per cent interest. "That sounded fine, so I paid their £44 fee," says John, of Feltham, Middlesex. "Then they wrote and told me to apply to two other companies that were offering loans with 49 and 59 per cent interest. "I asked for my money back but was told I should have read the small print. "I'm an ordinary working person and feel they've just taken this money from me for doing nothing useful." So we asked Yes Loans what was going on and John was offered a refund "as a gesture of goodwill" |

Interesting story Anon, These sort of companies do push there luck and only react properly when someone bigger tells them its wrong. We heard these sort of stories when we first started. After all this time these companies are still going. Makes our involvement in closing down YCC looks good. There are authorites out there to prevent this sort of company operating. We rely on them to do something but what happens, very little. Its down to sites like this to bring justice to the consumer. |
