My mate has just brought a repossession home and done it up.

When she went to change the gas suppliers there was an outstanding debt of £600 from the previous owner. This came as no surprise to us as there are other outstanding debts she had recieved for the previous owner.

Well the gas supplier is British Gas and they want their money else they are going to send the man around to cut off the gas. So she informed them she is the new owner and does not know the whereabout of the previous owner which she doesnt.
They told her she would be responsible for the bill. Yes they did thats exactly what the boy over the phone said to her.

She told him where to go and will see them in court if they send anyone around etc. Anyway she wants to use another supplier and approach Utility Warehouse. They told her they are reluctant to supply until this previous bill is sorted.

She is goingot have a cold winter unless someone has a spare £600 about. :(

comes as no surprise to me. nodside

Do you watch Watchdog on telly.

Last week and this week there were loads of dissatisfied customers .
Apparently they have been voted the worst for customer service for two years running.

About seven years ago when at my previous house, I was canvassed by what was then Norweb ( Now Powergen I think)

Anyway arranged to move over to them from British Gas,
For almost two years I received bills from both companies.
When I rang them both I was told I was a customer of both.
I told each of them that I would only pay one of them.
As expected I received cut off letters from them both.

I telephoned each of them again and told them they could arm wrestle each other to see who cuts me off first
British Gas said it was the computer that kept sending the bills.

So, I wrote a letter addressed to their computer and within a week it was sorted.
Suggest your friend does this.

British Gas,

Wouldnt touch em with a bargepole.

Can you trust a company that proudly has "British" in the name and yet has Indian call centres?
