Hi Guys, Further to my previous posts I have been browsing the site looking at other people who have attempted to get out of paying their insurance instalments after returning their cars once the 24 month period is up. It is increasingly annoying me that I am going to be liable for this payment for another two years after returning my car when i am not receiving the product, so i need some advice on what I have done today please!!! I phoned the Head office in Horsham and spoke to someone about terminating my insurances at the same time as handing back my car, and was a bit taken a back when she said she 'didn't think there would be a problem with that!' Now the point i want advice on is that as i run a small business and called from my office, I recorded this call, so have the evidence (the DAF employee was informed beforehand of course). Is this viable evidence in my favour if they refuse later or do you think it was just a badly trained staff member who answered the phone? It seems a funny thing to say seeing all the publicity surrounding the insurance rip-offs etc. Do you think a letter to DAF when i hand my car back with this mentioned and the fact that i have logged this with the local CAB will be enough to sort it, or should i sit on this and take legal advice before enquiring further about my insurances? Sorry to prattle on but i really resent continuing to pay for these products once the car is gone! Cheers for any advice. |

Hello Deano and welcome to saynotoyes Good result on recording the call! look, what I would do here is send a 'recorded' delivery letter to Steve Plowman informing him of your intention to VT the car. I would also mention here that you made a call to Horsham and was advised by a member of staff that it would not be an problem in having the insurance's cancelled. Let him know you have the recording of the conversation and wait and wait for his response. Let us know how you get on and good luck! |

could I also suggest that you speak to Stephensons about this and ask their advice because if you have a recording of this advice from somebody at Horsham it may help others of us in our fight against YCC. Also, they will be able to tell you where you stand now as regards returning your car and being stung for the insurances. Good Luck and keep us all posted please |

did you get clarification that the insurance payments would be cancelled or was it just the policies? they have advised me that they can cancel the policies but i will still have to pay for them as they have paid for them up-front-just like they have told others on here |
