See the news reports in today's press, small recognition by the OFT, maybe its time they acted on these criminals.

Guardian

I have also read this article in the Star.

Hello Lee.

I read these reports today, the one in the Daily Star I believe relates to Carcraft in Liverpool. (my scanner has broke or I would have placed the write up on the site hmm )

Anyhow, what always annoys me, big time!, is that the Daily Star will report this story on a half page spread, telling all the wrongs of what has gone on, how the customer was ripped off, how the finance companies are taking people for a ride, which they are without a doubt.

You then turn over the page after reading the story and you see a half page advert for U can Car Credit and Welcome Car Finance. These newspapers are fantastic at reporting all the news and uncovering great stories, but they continue to allow the companies that are practising all these wrong doings to advertise in their newspapers.

The whole story they reported about the guy owing £20 k on a car that was worth far less was bought from Carcraft who own Ucan Car Credit, who advertise in the Daily Star every day of the week!

If they are so concerned about the public getting ripped off why don't they refuse to allow these companies to advertise, this would stop them trading within months, the likes of Carcraft and Ucan Car Credit totally rely on adverts in the national press and without it would not be in business.

So, in summing up, they are happy to bank £1000's of pounds every day from these business and advertise them in the newspaper even though they continue to rip off the public every day, and then report the odd story in the same newspaper.

Am I missing something here??

Anyone else have a view on this one.... hmm

Yeah....Ian King of The Sun.

Remember him...what was his excuse...."us journalist dont know what the marketing guys are doing"....thinking that makes it right.

I remember the days when medias considered the reputation of the companies they advertised.

"Chinese wall" thats what Mr King called it between the journalists and marketeers. Thats a big wall. Ah well it looks like we are going to have to live with 2 face medias.
