Hi All,

Might be away from the forum for a while thanks to Pipex Homecall. realmad

I have my telephone and broadband through them after being canvassed last year.

Since then there has been one problem after another.

They tried to take my direct debit twice and I incurred a charge from my bank. To be fair though, Pipex refunded the charge and so did the bank.

Anyway, went to use my phone on tuesday 2nd Jan and found the line was dead.
Rang pipex on my mobile and when I finally got through was basically told that they had accidentally cancelled my line and sent it back to BT.
Told me I had to call BT to have the line reinstated. I refused and told them that they should do it as it was their fault.
Since tuesday I have called pipex over 30 times and spent £45 in credit on my mobile.
I have been promised a call back to my mobile from a manager on four occasions and up until an hour ago nobody had called.
When one finally called, I laid into him and asked why he hadnt rung before.
Apparently, WAIT FOR THIS....... A manager had called yesterday and my phone line was dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
That is why I bl***y rang in the first place.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, he confirmed what I had already been told that I had to call BT to reinstate the line.
I told him it had cost me £45 on my mobile and he said "So what"

I asked to speak to his manager and she actually has refunded my bill by £60.

Too little too late.

Rang BT who said they will put my line back on tomorrow, but have to stay with them 3 months, so I cant even go to a different provider till after then.

To also add insult to injury, I discovered my broadband is also due to go off any day as pipex have cancelled that aswell!!!!

So, if it goes off, I might be away from the forum for a while.

WARNING

Pipex can seriously p**s you off.
Anyone thinking of using them. My advice......DONT

Rant over

I know.

But when I first started using them they were just called Homecall ( Caudwell communications) based near me in Manchester, before becoming Pipex.

It was only after then that "The Hoff" was used to advertise them.

Actually I had forgotten about that.

Do you have any contact details for them please, if not I will "Google" it and see if I can find it on there.

Cheers,

BT take far too long to do anything....when we moved house they said they couldnt connect the phone for 6wks  the line was already in so all they had to do was flick a switch. I called telewest and they did it the next day and it only costs £30 mth for broadband, tele and phone..........might be worth you swtiching over to them Buzz

Hi Jude.

Telewest is now part of NTL .

I live in an area where there is no cable tv. If I lived 200 yards further up the road, there is cable.

My other reason is that I used to work for NTL as an installation engineer and they p**sed me off so I wouldnt give them my custom even if I could use them !!

My God.

I am getting more like Victor Meldrew every day.

I DONT BELIEVE IT !!!!! :P

You do realise that you can claim compensation from Pipex through Offcom these are the people who regulate the UK communications industry.

We had similar issues with BT, were our landline was cut off for no reason, due to us getting the new broadband phone through them.

You can claim penalties like, so much for every day you did not have service, and also if you have been put in financial difficulties through their error.

We got somewhere in the region of £700 for no phone for 63 days, well worth a shot, even if it's just to cause pipex a lot of trouble.

See web link below, it is Pipex legal jargon, which I found quite amusing considering what you have been through, it also confirms they are regulated by OFCOM.

You may be able to use this info against them.

Thanks for that Lee.

Will definitely follow it up.

Been thinking aswell..
I only started with them about 6 months ago on a 12month contract, so in effect I would have had to compensate them till the end of this if I had wanted out.

By them doing what they have, I think they must be in breach of the same contract.

Because BT have had to reinstall the line, I am now contracted to them for 3 months, ( condition of line reinstatement - they can have you by the balls) so I can say that because pipex have put me in this position, i am prevented from using a cheaper company so there is that loss to me aswell.
Wondering also if I am entitled to a full refund of all my previous bills as they have failed to fulfil the contract to me.
