Hi All

Can anyone tell me where i will find the requirements that must be met in order to qualify for PPI to be sold to a person.

When I was sold PPI from DAF i was only in the country a few weeks, Was not in full time employment but training for a permanent job. and obviously had a cr censored p credit rating as i was new to the country.

I think iread someplace that one needs to be at lease 6 months in the country before being offered this insurance and must be in employment for a minimum length of time also.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks all

from most of the sites I have read you can get PPI as long as you are over 18 and resident in the country. I have not been able to find anywhere that says you have to have been resident for any set time although I always used to think it was 12 months before you could start applying for credit etc.

also, some policies will cover you if you are self-employed etc but I know that YCC's wasn't one of these policies. Can I ask what they put down as your earnings on your application? If they put down you were working full time then you would be alright to claim on it as long as you had been doing your job continuously for 6 months before you claimed

did you get a set of exclusions from YCC to tell you who could and couldn't claim because these may give you an idea as to whether or not it was worth it in your case

What we are discovering is that alot of users who took out PPI did not require it. As Jenni says it is worth having a look at the Terms and Conditions especially the exclusions. From this alot of our users are finding out that they should have not been sold the PPI because of a certain exclusion.

As we all know YCC told us we had to take it out. Personally I do not remember the salesman asking me certain things like how long had I been employed. There are certain things you needed to be before you could take it out. Worth checking out.

To qualify for full payment protection including unemployment and redundancy you need to be in full time employment working more than 14 hours per week.

Which level of PPI were you sold? YCC offered 3 levels.

Jen, since the business has been regulated by FSA a demands and need statement need s to be completed by the dealer. This will ask ask the customer a number of questions to see if they qualify for the different cover of PPI and of course to make sure that there is no misselling.

YCC traded before the business was regulated meaning that in most circumstances that the most expensive level of cover was sold by DAF, generating the highest payment and biggest commission ,irrelevant of the customers needs.

This was the reason the business was closed by Provident, they could no longer get away with mis selling, and generating massive commissions and profit.

Hi folks

I have no idea which level of PPi i was sold. I was not advised that there were different levels. I bought my car from DAF in nov 2004 so dont think it was regulated at the time.
Either way I was only in the uk for a short time so wonder if I should ever have been sold this insurance???

Cheers
