Hi all, Okies, step 2. I got a call from DAF today to arrange the collection of my car and discuss my outstanding balance. OK, first of all, tried to inform me of my £80 collection charge, I didn't contest anything at first because i wanted to discuss my outstanding balance. I informed them that I would call them back and hung up. They gave me the number to locate my local auction house, which is about 200 miles away. Now.. what do I do? Can I call them up and tell them I want to continue paying in installments for both the downfall and the insurances, and tell them to pick up the car straight away? Luckily, I have CAB dealing with my finances, and they informed me they couldn't deal with DAF's debt as I would loose the car. So now the car is going, I can get them to deal with it, and not have to pay as much as I normally would. Any advice? Regards |

Just calculated the exact distance to the Auction house, its 92 miles. Is this reasonable? Also, do they want the £80 up front? Regards |

Give the auction house a call and tell them the car is ready for collection. Do not mention anything about a collection fee. When they turn up do not pay them anything. The chances are they, the auction house, will not charge YCC anything except something like 10% of the sale price of the car. This £80 collection fee is what YCC have invention to extract more money form its clients. YCC will send you a final settlement. In your case when you get it I would ask for a breakdown. Chances are they will include the £80 in that settlement. Basically trying ot hide it. Have you work out roughly what you could be liable for? |

Well I asked what I owe and it is: Shortfall: 226.20 Insurances: 1869.14 Or if I pay a lump sum, they would take 50% off. I'd happily call the auction house but what if they demand the money for collection. After all they have just travelled 90+ miles to collect it. Regards |

If the auction house demands money for its collection then say goodbye to them. I would then get back to YCC and inform them that the car is ready for collection. If they insist on a collection fee again, most likely will, then I would inform them according to your contract you do not have to pay a collection fee but you are willing to return the car at a reasonable distance, 92 miles is not reasonable. |

Well called DAF and they want me to pay £80 via Credit/Debit Card before they will send anyone out to collect the car. I informed them that my contract doesn't state that I need to pay £80 and they said it doesn't matter. |

DAF gave me the number to ring, the auction house is Premier MotorAuctions http://www.premiermotorauctions.co.uk/ 0113 2941111 They told me the nearest Auction house to me is Leeds which according to The AA's Route Planner is 92 miles from my door to theirs. |

thats strange cos there website says they have lorries all over the country. this would suggest they do collect. maybe its because its DAF!!!! ring them again and find out why they wont collect and then speak to trading standards because I think this £80 charge comes down to a breach of contract as it is not your fault that YCC closed its doors and there is no mention in your agreement of any charge |
