Hi All, I was wondering if anybody could help me. I am writing on behalf of a friend who has been for years trying to sort out his debt problems, but instead of sorting them out, they have just been getting worse. Besides for WCF he owes approximately £5k to other companies, which we may be able to sort out if we can deal with Welcome. Over a year ago, he bought a car from a branch in Manchester that has since closed. The car definitely didn't pass the 125 points which was definitely a joke. He couldn't pay up, and they took the car of him. Now they have marked a default in all 3 credit reference agencies of £15,789! He doesn't feel he owes them the money. Also, even if he were to come to an agreement with the other companies he owes money to, it would be substantially limited because of this stupid debt. What do we do? I've got no clue anymore! Thanks, Jonathan. |

Hi Jonathan, Welcome to saynotoyes. Firstly, regarding your friends car from welcome. You say that the 125 check wasn't done. When did he realise this? Did he break down/ have repairs, etc within a short time of taking delivery. If so, did you keep any receipts and was this reported to welcome? I assume the car was repossessed or did he return it to them voluntarily? You say he also has a couple of other debts with other companies. Were these for cars or are they unrelated? Buzz. |

Hi Buzz, Thanks for your response. I am now logged in so I get told of responses, hence the change in posting name. In response to your questions: - Car was repossesed by Welcome. - We realized this almost immediately. Car was repossesed within about 6 weeks of it being taken out. - We can get hold of an engineers report. - The other debts are unrelated. Cheers, Jonathan a.k.a. Pickles. |

Hi Pickles SIX WEEKS !!! I have never heard of a reposession being done so quick, Usually they wait for 2 to 3 months before doing so. I think the best thing you can do is to get a copy of the engineers report. This will hopefully show that the problems were there soon after you bought the vehicle. Did you approach welcome when you discovered the problems? If so, what did they say? Buzz |
