I am trying to return my car to YCC after making 24 payments. I sent Direct Auto a letter from this site giving them 14 days notice of terminating my agreement and to collect the car. Last week someone came and inspected the car who found no fault and today I phoned them to find out when they would collect it. I was informed I would have to pay an £80 collection fee. After reading through this site I was ready to inform her that no where in my contract does it state I have to pay this fee, again she insisted I had to. I informed her I was not going to pay it and the car was ready to collect. She replied she would now pass my account to the debt department. Is this normal? I am a little worried now! Regards Gary |

right first of all photograph your car inside and out! you may have had a report done claiming no faults but a lot of people on here have had the same and a couple of weeks later they are receiving letters demanding £1000 for supposed repairs. with photos they will not be able to pull such a stunt. the next thing is is to ring YCC/DAF and ask them which auction house will be having your car and for a contact phone number. then ring the auction house directly. it is my understanding that they will collect the car with no charge and that they than take their costs from the sale of the car. I may be wrong but I am sure this is what I have heard. DAF cannot ask for the £80 as it is a breach of contract. It says nowhere in your agreement that you have to pay to have your car collected. it says you have to return it to your nearest showroom which obviously cannot be done anymore. if they wanted to start charging when they closed the business then they would have had to write to all customers to inform them of this. as they have not it can be construed as a breach of contract |
