Solicitors among 18 staff made redundant at leading Welsh lawyers Three solicitors and 15 further staff have been made redundant at one of Wales' major law firms. Mike Jeffs, partner at the Cardiff office of Geldards LLP, said, 'It is with regret that we have had to make 18 people within the debt recovery department of our Cardiff office redundant. This is of course a very sad situation for all those directly concerned and also for the rest of the firm.' Last October Cardiff-based Leo Abse & Cohen announced redundancies due to 'difficult trading conditions'. Mr Jeffs said, 'The staff affected are being given continued emotional and practical support to help them throughout this process... IC WALES CO UK |

18 people being made redundant from the Debt Recovery Department. I just wonder if businesses are hearing about Godebt. With more and more people getting in debt business should be increasing. I wonder if companies are turning away from godebt, I wonder. |

I wouldn't be surprised if companies are turning away from GoDebt. Have you tried typing it into Google lately, the results are just full of complaints about them. Sooner they are out of business the better. |

The profile and image of Godebt across the net is quite simply shocking. As you say a Google search of the business reads page after page of negative comments. Is this good for the Godebt business and brand, I fear not. |

hello, those figures are incorrect, there were two rounds of redundancies at Geldards/Hollis Briggs/Go-Debt - All the same company of course. But only one round of redundancies made the papers. The correct figures are between 36 and 40 (some redundancies in the Midlands were'nt made clear). these are the facts, Go-Debt are hurting badly - ! Ex-Member of Go-Debt here ! Keep up the pressure Algy |

Algernon As you may be aware we are going to the authorities to seek the revocation of their consumer credit licence. We have a number of complaints regarding blatant abuses of regulation. This will be the quickest way to have them shut down. We have succeeded going this route before.

Algernon There have been no redundancies in Go Debt Limited. There have been redundancies in the law firm as reported in the press and posted to this site. In the life cycle of any business staff will come and go. Take the high street banks as an example - they continue to shed employees even though they are reporting significant profits. This is how business works. William Rhodes |
