Well where to start. We purchased a car from approved car finance 2 months ago again we were pushed into taking the OPTIONAL insurances. I argued and said that I didn't want them and that I knew my rights but was told that if I didn't then my APR would increase dramatically being young this sounded logical. We got the car home and we knew that there was something wrong it just didn't seem to be running right so I rang the aftersales team who were extremely UNhelpful we also noticed that we didn't have an MOT slip, I also rang the finance company Cygnet and explained to them the problems we were having she immediately cancelled the insurances for us. Subsequently we finally recieved a phone call from approved after several phone calls to them and promised call backs they wanted us to sign another credit agreement it's amazing how quick they get back to you when they want something doing therefore we went up and resigned an agreement without insurances and stressed that we needed the MOT slip we were promised that we would recieve it the next day in the post guess what we never did. When rumaging through the paperwork that they had given us we located the old MOT slip on the slip it stipulated that the car had 84,759 miles yet on the car itsle it only said it had done 67.033 obviously we knew this didnt add up and reported it to the trading standards. I have found these guys unhelpful two after several phone calls we still 2 months down the line haven't recieved a call or any paperwork but was advised that they had taken on my case and that due to this the consumer credit line cant advise me arrrggghhhh. My partner stupidly told Approved of what we were doing and obviuosly they started panicking we were getting upto 30 phone calls a day saying that we had to come back up in the car and resign some more paperwork during this time more faults were appearing on the car. We had phone calls from the Branch Manager telling us that if we don't go and sign more paperwork then they would come and take our car and that he didn't follow the trading standards rules he only follows his own. Still no MOT slip at this point. Approved then started to leave messages on our referees phone and also at my work place bearing in mind I work for a large call centre and when you ring anyone can pick up the call I was then recieveing e-mails from members of staff at my work saying I need to ring Approved as they are coming to take my car. Surely they are not allowed to do this they also left a message on my referees phone saying that they are taking us to court for fraud as we had said the number they were calling was ours. We then after so much pressure went up to approved car finance at Normanton and resigned the paperwork and low and behold they didn't want us to leave in our original car (could this be because it was clocked) they then gave us a an 52 plate vectra instaed of the original V reg vectra for the same price oh and guess what the ECU light came on during the test drive and guess what our options were either take that one and take it to the garage the day after to be fixed or walk home as the old car was demmed unsafe for us to drive(it had an abs fault). So we took the new vectra home and to be honest it seemed fine and then next day it started to run rough again woohoo what a surprise so we booked it in to be fixed what was the resonse oh we cant fix it for two weeks so as usaul we sat back and waited tried to request a courtsey car or at least our part exchange back for now but we were told no. Two weeks later we took the car in and picked it up the next day 2 mins down the road the ECU light came back on so we went staright back to the garage and he plugged it in to the machine and it was another fault that low and behold we cant fix. Again we rang thej after sales team and were told well you need to find a garage that can and pay for it and well reimburse you yeah right. We then managed for them to authorise for us to take it to a vauxhall dealer so we did Vauxhall were fantastic and told us all the problems with the car (too many to list) at first they estimated the costs to be around £500 as they could only look at the car and not touch it as Approved would not pay for it. Approved authorised this and they started work subsequently they found many faults and they said that they shouldn't even be selling cars in such an appalling condition. The cost of repairs has now jumped to £1600 approved have said they will £500 (im still waiting for teh cheque) of it my mother in law as had to pay another £500 and they won't pay the other £600 as they want to take our car to Birmingham for 3 weeks to fix it so now our car is sat in Reg Vardy and they are trefusing to give us it back until they recieve payment from Approved. I really am at loss of what to do. |

Ok in that case I would personally return the car back to Approved and throw the Sales of Goods Act at them. It would be best to seek legal advice first but I'm confident this is what you will be told. We usually recommend users in your position to contact Trading Standards but it looks like you have done that without success. It would be worth contacting them again and hope you get a different agent. Let us know what you do. |

i wouldn't mess with my mother in law
 when you say trading standards couldn't help what was the reason? I would of thought that something like the mileage on the mot not matching that on the car was a serious issue let alone the other problems you were having. I am sure that a solicitor would get things sorted because if they can argue the sales of goods act with approved then you have good grounds I would think to getting a new car or even your money back. good luck and keep us informed |
