Hi all,

Well after lots of money spending I am going to get rid of the cash cow. My 2 years is up on the 19th of June.
As per my previous topic the car is now running but have no faith in it whatsoever

Can you please advise me of when is best to get in touch with DAFS to start the ball rolling.

Thanks

Sara

hello Sara,

Fell free to use our template here and send it to Horsham: -

They should reply to you within 7 days. Expect to get the usual liability balance and the £80 collection fee.

We recommend you refuse to pay the collection fee. Not sure where you are in the country but if you refuse to pay this they will want you to return the car to the auction house which I believe is in Leeds.

Lets wait on their reply then go from there.

Hi,

Thanks for that, can I get in touch with them now as my 2 yrs will be on the 19th june??

I will quite happily pay the 80 pounds for them to take the death trap to leeds as there is no way that I would risk taking it that far. thum

You can phone them but they will still want it in writing. The more notice you give the better. You never know they might let you off a month and pigs will fly.

Remember to take photos of the car before they come and take it away. Lately we have had a number of users claiming YCC have charged them damages to the car after receiving it.

Are you that desperate to get rid of it beong happy to pay the £80 collection fee? You might find that they will ask you to take it somewhere else besides Leeds. Perhaps somewhere closer. Who knows until they reply.

i know that feeling. even when the clutch dropped out of the bottom of my car the warranty company tried to make out it was just wear and tear and they would do nothing about it until their own approved garage told them there was no way it was simple wear and tear and that there was a serious fault that had been there for months. was just lucky it happened in the city and not on the motorway

Unless I'm extremely lucky i've never had a problem with MB & G. I first took my car to the dealers who diagnosed a problem, they sent the information to MB & G and I had to claim the cost back from them.

Then my Alternator went, I dropped the car off at Nationwide, and was told I would get a phone call to inform me of the situation. 3 hours later I get a phone call saying come and collect your car, all fixed.

I'm glad you were that lucky with them. I have had to pay to have the whole car rewired, new exhaust including turbo, new dashboard and fuel mass gauge and it is still not running right.

Just gonna cut my losses and run!!

Well I got a call from Daf today and have Vt'd by car.

Things have gone far too smoothly according to a lot of the posts on this websites as they have let me terminate my contract immediatly ( not up to 2 years till june ) and sorted out my instalments for the rest of the gap and mb insurances. ( no extra interest ?)

Will keep you posted as I am sure at some point there may be trouble ahead. Things never go this smooth

have you paid up until the half way mark?

do you have written proof of this arrangement with DAF and that you do not owe anymore for the car?

Hi, you seem keen to get rid of the car, that i understand and i hope you dont get any more bother from these people, but i cant understand why you are not bothered about having to pay for the insurances for a car you no longer have and as you said have done you no good at all in the past, also the £80 collection fee is a polite way of stealing money from you as this is illegal and you should claim it back and you never know they might just reduce what you owe in insurances.Put your determination on to these focuses and see what you could be saving each month!!!
Good luck in whatever you decide. dunno

Hi,

I am looking further into the insurances and awaiting for the cab to get back to me, but I do have a situation in regards to my job which means I cannot afford to miss any payments set out as I work for a bank who does extremely frequent credit checks and as we all know, daf are very quick in putting defaults on our credit references. I simply cannot afford to lose my job because of a bunch of censored .
