Just been thinking..... A few people have asked on here about the constant harrassment by phone and text by YCC and we have advised them to write and request that the calls stop. What I am wondering is if this also stops the calls to the referees that we all had to give when we applied for the car, or is it just your own phone that it concerns. If not then would the referees have to request their phone numbers are deleted or would we be able to do it on their behalf. I think a lot of people may have forgotten that they gave these details when they applied... Me included Buzz |

The template letter requests all communication via letter. This should cover the referee references. It would be stupid for YCC to get someone else involved after receiving the letter. Contacting you say via phone after receiving the letter is risky but to actually involve a third party is suicidal. A witness to your claim of harrassment after requesting only via letter. Thats a stupid thing to do then again this is YCc we are talking about. |

these "referees" should only be contacted if DAF lose contact with you - this is their own words. they never lost contact with me but still started phoning these people telling them what I owed and saying they wanted the money within 7 days etc. i soon got that stopped for both me and my referees |

That is such a joke....and yet if you try to speak to them on behalf of your partner....the 'data protection act' wall gets raised! How can they get away with disclosing private information to your referees. I know both my referees were both contacted...I'd be horrified if they told them all my business |

Very good question KLG. I wonder if YCC broke any DPA rules requesting referees for such a practice? |

An interesting story here.. Mum sues bank for 'harassment' Mum sues bank for 'harassment' This is Money 19 April 2007 A single mother is taking a Halifax to court claiming it harassed her about an overdraft. Alison Turner is seeking an injunction against the bank and wants damages for what she claims was stress and anxiety caused by the bank repeatedly contacting her. The mother of two forced the bank to agree to clear £775 off an overdraft bill after complaining the charges were unlawful. But the 31-year-old claims after the company agreed to clear the debt staff tried to contact her 33 times in three months with calls and letters relating to unresolved issues over how much she owed them. Ms Turner, from Plymouth, Devon, said she felt bullied by the calls saying they were 'unprofessional and disrespectful'. This is money |
