Hi everyone Im a newbie on this site and I am reading with interest. I was told about it from someone on Consumer Action. Well, here is my story. In 2004 i went to a local car dealer (not a WF Showroom) and got a car from them and the finance was from Welcome. When signing the agreement I noticed the PPI which cost £1302.56, Shortfall Insurance at £245.00 and a Finace Charge at £743.00 and APR 22.8% I told the manager at the salesroom that I didn't want to take the PPI and he told me that if I didn't I would not be able to get the car. I wasn't happy about it but I proceeded and signed on the dotted line. Then in January this year I decided to Voluntary Terminate my agreement with WF. This meant handing my car back. I checked my agreement before doing this and it stated that if I paid £3850.32 to my car then I could VT. So I went ahead, the RAC came out, inspected my car, then a few days later the car got collected. To my surprise I get a letter telling me that I owe them nearly £600 for "Separate Agreement Liabilities". I think this means the PPI that is still outstanding. It was not until getting my new car and going onto Consumer Action Group website that I realised that I have been totally conned. I am at the moment in the process of writing to WF asking them for a breakdown on the charges they have incurred on me. If anyone out there could give me some expert advice I would be extremley grateful. Sorry for such a long post!! Tracyab |

Tracyab, welcome to our forum. The miss selling of PPI within the car industry is a hot topic as you are finding out. We actually have a service here where we can get your contract checked out by our legal experts. They will be able to inform you if you have a challenge or not. The challenge of winning back PPI is new in the car finance industry. I personally only know of one individual who has had success. He was self employed and managed to find out that YCC had said he was in full time employment so to obtain credit. He got this information by doing a Data Protection request (DPA). We do know others who are trying the same and we wait for their results. Lets us have a look at your contract then see where we stand. Our experts might ask for other information like an application request form. They are familiar with dealing with Welcome and other sub prime lenders. So they know what to look for. |

Ive just emailed my agreement to be checked over. Ive just noticed in the terms and conditions under the PPI, it states that I must be in full-time employment. I was only working 20hrs a week at the time of signing this contract. They were also notified of my hours of work. Has anyone else came across this too?? |

My opinion here is that 20 hours would not be considered full time employment in a court. Tracy, are you familiar with a DPA request. There will be other documents that Welcome will hold on you. Such documents as an application form etc. A DPA request will oblige Welcome by law to send all information they hold on you. It costs £10 but it might be the next step. This sort of thing is always worth doing when you are in this situation. |

Hi yes, I am aware of the DPA which I intend doing when I get my new cheque book from the bank. WF keep phoning me as they want the outstanding PPI paid back. Would you suggest telling them that I am disputing the PPI and tell them that I have requested the DPA. I have also sent a copy of my agreement to this website for to be checked over but I haven't had a response as yet. Im not sure how long it takes to be looked at. |

Hi Tracy. I have not received your agreement yet. Please could you try sending it to me at: - Bakedalasker@saynotoyes.co.uk. Regarding WF requesting the PPI I would write to them informing you are DPA and you are putting the debt into dispute. Also in the same letter request that they only contact you via mail. Feel free to use our harrassment letter: - http://z11.invisionfree.com/saynotoyes/ind...?showtopic=1599 Obviously ammend the bits that dont apply. |

Welcome phoned me today saying that they have an 'offer' for me. This offer was to reduce the outstanding PPI from £600 to £290. I really wanted to tell the lady to get stuffed but she was quite nice so I kindly refused
