This may be of use to you - I bought a lounge suit in 2004 on HP which was financed through Paragon finance. Paid my monthly installments with a couple of late payments but carried on paying, ran into financial problems, contacted them with a final settlement, they refused, so I decided to ask them for a statement of all my payments WHAT A SHOCK. The original HP was for £1400 plus interest over the two years came to +/-£1500, over the two years I had paid this off but PARAGON had charged me over £1000 in "sundry debit charges", this was £10 for a phone call, some of which I was getting 3 times are week and £20 to send a letter, again some of which I was getting 3 times a week, this has been going on now for over a year. I have been in contact with PARAGON and told them I am not paying them anything and should not be charging me £50/week for letters are calls even though I have made contact and have told on numerous occassions to take me to court as I have kept all these letters, around December time I was receiving 3 letter dated the same day, each time they do this they charge £10!!!! I would suggest that anyone who has HP should ask for a statement and query these charges as it does not cost £10 for a phonecall or £20 to send a computer generated letter, like they banks they are overcharging. |

Perhay, Just check your HP agreement for any clauses on charges. If it does go to court that is what the judge will look at. Doubt very much thes charges will be on there but better to know for definate. |
