Grey's Anatomy: Episode 4.8 "Forever Young" Recap - Thursday, November 15, 2007
Tonight's Grey's Anatomy is all about growing up. Or, not growing up, as the title suggests. Derek and Halfrek (Kali Rocha) open the episode by having drinks at the Emerald City Bar. As if they are in a high school cafeteria, this catches the attention of everyone else around. Meredith glowers at them from across the bar.
At the hospital, Bailey (Chandra Wilson) posts a sign indicating that, effective immediately, she will be the new chief resident, and she does a little happy dance. Halfrek gives Bailey a congratulatory hug and offers her condolences to Callie (Sara Ramirez). Hopefully, at least one night has passed since the opening of the episode at the bar, or else all of Seattle Grace's doctors have shown up to work buzzed...................cont’d

EW - TV Watch - ''Grey's Anatomy'': Passive-Regressive
A bus accident makes the staffers -- especially Bailey -- confront their teenage selves; plus, drunk Daddy Grey plays Meredith and Lexie - The trouble with TV's addiction to voice-over narration is that it takes a lot of the magic out of these recaps. I mean, wouldn't it be so much more fun if right here were the first time you were hearing that this week's episode of Grey's Anatomy was all about the doctors reliving their teen issues through a high school bus crash? But, no, Meredith ruined that for us. ''Do we ever really grow up?'' she asked just after we watched dorky Dr. Sydney hit on presumably cool kid McDreamy (though it's hard not to also think about Patrick Dempsey's star-making turn as the totally geek turned totally chic Ronald in Can't Buy Me Love). ''There comes a point in your life when you're officially an adult,'' Meredith also told us, contradicting most of what we've seen on this show. Which, yes, I get it, is exactly the point........cont’d

'Grey's Anatomy': high school dramas relived - November 16, 2007
t is to be hoped that the writers and producers settle their differences quickly, if for no other reason than that "Grey's Anatomy" is getting good again. While it is far too easy for fans to read things into any sort of change on such a clacked-about show, there does seem to be a relationship between the complaints of last season and the developments of this. So maybe those interactive network websites aren't just for show after all.

First there was the introduction of Dr. Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith) to the permanent staff. Competitive and combative, Hahn cut through a lot of the treacle build-up from last season, making comments that could have come right from America's exasperated living rooms and giving us reason to hope that some of the women might just remember they are doctors, not high school drama queens.

Last night took the theme of self-examination one step further, with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) informing us that a hospital can, at times, seem like nothing so much as high school. No kidding. A few minutes later, Bailey (Chandra Wilson), the new chief resident, read everyone the riot act, pointing out that the locker room was for changing, "not crying," and that the on-call room should not be used for anything requiring a locked door. "Grow up," she told Izzie (Katherine Heigl), busy whispering about her fizzling romance with George, and thousands cheered.......................some more......

MSNBC - Grey’s Gossip, Weekly udate - Nov. 15
Seattle Grace High School: McDreamy went on a date with Sydney, just because. At the hospital, McDreamy had to operate on a kid who got a pencil stuck in his eye when a school bus crashed and turned the hospital into a high school. Everyone’s personalities and relationships were examined through the lens of high school, which was a real stretch. Cliques were exposed and insecurities uncovered. McDreamy was confronted by a nurse, Rose, who he had never noticed in 36 surgeries together. Could Rose become a thorn in Meredith’s side?
Rumor has it: George was avoiding Izzie because their sex was bad. They couldn’t have lunch — let alone a conversation — without some serious awkwardness. Word got around the hospital that there was trouble in Gizzie-dise, and Izzie overheard a couple of the new interns talking about how their relationship is over. George and Izzie talked about how they miss their best friends, and then told each other about their relationship troubles as if they didn’t know who they were talking about. They weren’t alone...............................................keep going.......

‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Schoolkids Become Teachers! - 11/16/07
This week, Meredith tells us that we'll be exploring the concept of growing up, becoming an adult, and zzzz. Seriously, how old is Meredith supposed to be on this show? 30? We'd say Ellen Pompeo's skin puts her at about, oh, 57, but nobody asked us, so … Anyway, a school-bus crash fills the ER with a gaggle of high-school kids who proceed to teach the doctors important lessons about their own maturity. Clever!....................cont’d

Just Like Old Times - Episode Recap: "Forever Young" (November 15, 2007)
Tonight, Bailey took charge and let the residents know there was a new boss in town, but she soon lost her drive when an old crush, Marcus (D.B. Woodside), appeared in the ER. So, while I was excited to see the old Bailey laying down the law early on, I was equally disappointed to see her turn to mush for a guy who obviously used her all throughout high school. And so we had our theme for the night---Seattle Grace is just like high school!
While George and Izzie did their best to avoid each other tonight, rumors regarding their rocky relationship kept cropping up everywhere. I have to admit, watching Izzie confront George by saying, "I heard we broke-up," certainly took me back to my school days. Sure, the hallway dramas back then were painful to watch and even more painful to be a part of, but a part of me found myself longing for those days again. Thanks for making me all sentimental, Shonda!.................cont’d

Grey's Anatomy: Forever Young - Posted Nov 16th 2007
(S04E08) "You want me to fake a heart attack? I do a great fake heart attack." - Sloan

Oh my god, me writing this is like totally like a term paper! Hellooo stereotypes and clichés! Who thought of this idea? Let's compare the show to high school? Cliques, cheerleaders, nerds, best friends, secrets, sex, and jocks. Weren't these types of comparisons blatantly obvious without all the teeny-boppers running around? The only thing that was missing was a prom... wait, that already happened. It got to the point where I was yelling at the TV, "Ooh ooh, this is gonna be a principal's office joke!" And it was. However, if you can look past the high school level writing that went into this episode, it was actually pretty good.

There was a lot of great stuff, despite the fact that most of it was tainted with some sort of terrible teenage metaphor. Blame the school bus that crashed near Seattle Grace for that one. The injured kids and their teachers came pouring in and characters like Bailey (who had just started to get her Nazi on again) were reduced to what Hahn called "blithering idiots." 24's D.B. Woodside guested as a former high school jock who Bailey used to tutor. She was head over heels for him back then and he took advantage of her to get all his homework done. It was crazy to see how well he still manipulated Bailey all those years later -- she was still smitten..............................cont’d

'Grey's Anatomy': Teenage wasteland - November 15, 07:38 PM
What is it with Grey's Anatomy and foreign objects shoved into eyes? Because I have to say, it's really, really not okay. Also not okay? Cliquey high schoolers, who make me want to shove a pencil in my eye. Just sayin'. (Spoilers are no pencil in the eye, but still something to be avoided...)

Our case of the week is a high school bus crash, which features the aforementioned PENCIL IN THE EYE (I'm shuddering all over again just thinking about it). And by "pencil in the eye," I mean, "pencil in the eye and brain." And they waited until seeing the scan results to book an OR? Like there was a chance they could just pull it right back out, no harm, no foul? They actually do end up going with the "just pull it out" strategy in surgery (what else would you do, really?), which doesn't work out well for our patient, who ends up in a coma. Which, in turn, doesn't work out for his best friend, since they were pretty much all each other had at school. Here's a PSA to you loners out there: Make more than one friend, so that if you end up with a pencil in the eye, your friend isn't left all alone in the world while you're in a coma. (Chime) The more you know... ........ reading more....
