RECAPS & REVIEWS & RATINGS BUDDYTV Grey's Anatomy: Episode 4.10 "Crash Into Me Part 2" Recap - December 6, 2007 Previously on Grey's Anatomy, an ambulance crashed into another one in front of the hospital, killing one paramedic named Stan and severely injuring his partner Ray. Derek (Patrick Dempsey) operates on the brain of the driver of the first ambulance Mary, while Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and Cristina (Sandra Oh) treat her partner who just happens to be a white supremacist. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) doesn't want Derek to see anyone, but doesn't quite tell him. Ava (Elizabeth Reaser) is back. Seth Green flirts with Lexie (Chyler Leight) and ends up spewing his artery blood all over her. The special two-part Grey's Anatomy story arc concludes tonight, after an interminable two-week wait. Lexie covers up Seth Green's carotid artery with her hands to try to stop the bleeding. She manages to call the nurses' station to call a code blue, with Seth Green's help. Good thing Seth Green is conscious. He's very conscious. He doesn't go into shock or anything, and in fact, seems very chatty. He even makes jokes about his veins being flaccid when the nurse puts in an IV to replace some of the blood that he's losing. Cristina responds to the code blue and comes in to find Lexie wearing half of Seth Green's blood..............................keep reading! http://www.buddytv.com/articles/greys-anat...cras-14508.aspx ----------------------------------------------------------------------- EW.COM EW - TV Watch - ''Grey's Anatomy'': Plasma TV - Dec 07, 2007 Lexie spends the episode covered in blood as she tries to save Seth Green; meanwhile, Meredith provides emergency treatment under an ambulance — Meredith was right (gasp), in a lot of ways, when she summed up this week's episode by saying that sometimes ''the world rights itself.'' Sometimes Grey's Anatomy rights itself, too, and reminds us why we got so damn wrapped up in it two and a half years ago — as with this solid conclusion to that great Thanksgiving cliff-hanger. We've been waiting a long two weeks to find out what would happen with that poor paramedic still stuck in that ambulance and Seth Green and his gushing carotid artery. I have to say it was nice to see the Grey gals in action on both those fronts, Mer climbing under the ambulance and Lexie trying to stop Seth's bleeding (and calling a controversial code blue, which basically meant he was dying, even though he was still talking enough to verbalize exactly that for the non-medically-trained among us). .......................... keep reading http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20164874,00.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------- FANGASM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- LA TIMES 'Grey's' recovers and bids adieu for now - December 07, 2007 The first bona fide tragedy of the writers strike is about to occur. After months of slipping and sliding in an attempt to regain its footing after a disastrous third season, "Grey's Anatomy" has definitely regained its grip, just in time to run out of new episodes. Frankly, I can't think of a better reason for the writers and the producers to come to terms as quickly as possible because who knows what will happen if the writer's room remains empty and fallow for much longer. ABC did its best to prolong the joyous event by stringing out a two-part special episode over three weeks, which was pretty smart. Two weeks ago, a car wreck involving emergency vehicles made for what is a season stalwart for any medical show: the big disaster scenario. Last year, if you will remember, it was the ferry accident, in which the graphics far outshone the script, which focused more on Meredith's chronic ennui than on all the dead and dying. But the least said about that the better because this time around, the injuries and the medicine were at the forefront and Meredith was allowed to behave not only like a doctor, but a doctor with some chops, aiding a beloved ambulance driver who was trapped upside down in his vehicle. ................................read on http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracke...first-bona.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------- MSNBC MSNBC - Grey’s Gossip, Weekly udate - Dec. 6 Kiss from a Rose: The conclusion to the two-part event started with glimpses of the end of night, and one of them was Meredith telling McDreamy she doesn't want him to date other women. Flash back to where viewers left off two weeks ago, and the computer was on the fritz in the middle of guiding Shepherd's surgical probe into a patient's brain to remove a tumor. With no technician within five hours, Nurse Rose offered to try to fix it since she'd taken three semesters of computer science in college. She fixed it. How 'bout that? Afterward, they kissed. That's gonna be weird for Meredith. Have nothing to fear, but ... Meredith was trying to save Ray, the paramedic who was trapped in the rig with something lodged in him. Ray was scared and the chief told him that's OK because it means he has something to lose. The chief walked Meredith through the procedure and told her she was impressive. Later, she told McDreamy she doesn't want him dating other women, but said she's "scared as hell" to want him. But she's doing it anyway, because fear means she has something to lose and she doesn't want to lose him. He tried to tell her something -- like, "I kissed that nurse!" -- but didn't. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14484204/?pg=2...ysAnatomy_CHART ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW YORK MAGAZINE Devouring Culture Vulture -‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Special Episode? They’re All Special Episodes!12/ 7/07 "Mom? You'll never believe it — I'm killing Seth Green! Yes, as we speak. Okay, I should run — call you later!" We open on part two of two of the “Grey’s Anatomy Event!”™ in a flash-forward to the end of the episode, in which Meredith tells Derek she wants to be exclusive, McSteamy’s holding his head in his hands, Alex and No-Face are making out, and Meredith and Cristina are dancing. Way to ruin the highly anticipated outcome, guys! Meredith blathers on about how sometimes reality gets turned inside out. You know what’s never turned inside out? This show’s formula — seemingly personalized patients who help their doctors learn and grow — which remains unchanged, week after week, like our ex-boyfriend’s sheets, even for Special Events™. And we’re off! Meredith gets: A paramedic, Ray, who’s hanging upside down in his overturned ambulance. Meredith has to stick a big ol’ needle in his chest. He’s scared, which the Chief says is good, because it means he has something to lose. What it means: The “something to lose” speech inspires Meredith to tell McDreamy that she doesn’t want him dating anyone else. Also, she convinces the wife of Ray’s dead partner, Stan, to stick around the hospital and wait for Ray to wake up. “It’s better to have someone, even if it hurts,” Meredith warns her, unfortunately calling to mind spousal abuse. The more you know, ABC… The outcome: Ray wakes and sees Stan’s wife in the room with him. Derek grimaces after Meredith asks him to be her boyfriend because … he just made out with Nurse Rose!..........................there’s more http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2007/...al_episode.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------- TV GUIDE It's Good to Be Scared - Dec 6, 2007 Episode Recap: Crash Into Me (Part Two) December 6, 2007 What a night! Mer finally tells Derek that she doesn't want him to date other people and he goes and locks lips with Rose at the hospital! Shonda couldn't have planned that cliffhanger any better herself, because tonight's episode marks the last new episode available this month. All I can say is, I really hope that Derek doesn't choose Rose over Meredith. It's true, Mer was slow to open up to him, but how can he walk away from her now? Especially after she told him, "I don't want to lose you." My heart really goes out to Bailey, too. Tonight, she put her troubled marriage on the line to operate on Shane (Gale Harold), a white supremacist. Though it didn't really surprise me that Shane was more concerned about his "ruined" tattoo than he was about how Bailey had saved his life. For me, it was almost harder to watch Tucker (Cress Williams), disregard the importance of Bailey's job and then suggest to George that their marriage was over now. I know it must be hard to be the spouse of a doctor, what with the crazy hours they keep, but they're saving lives! And Bailey works so hard. I just wish her husband could have been more empathetic. http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TV...ssDate=12345678 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- TV SQUAD Grey's Anatomy: Crash Into Me (part two) - Posted Dec 7th 2007 12:17 (S04E10) "Dr. Hahn. Shut-up." - Meredith The final pre-strike episode of Grey's Anatomy. Well... technically, there's one more that's been shot (the infamous Bailey narrated episode), but who knows when that'll air. January if we're lucky. Maybe February. Anyway, I liked this one a lot. It definitely made up for last week's mediocre first half. It was hectic and tense despite the fact that you could see most of it coming a mile away. Fortunately, so many things came together... actually, I should say "fell apart." Yes, fell apart. Just about every major relationship in this show finally hit the wall. Not that it really comes as a surprise. The entire hospital was in chaos! All the OR rooms were booked, the ambulance crash was still being dealt with, and Sloan and Hahn and everyone else got endless pages and constantly had to move from one patient to the next never fully having the chance to devote themselves to one surgery. It's a wonder that Nick (Seth Green was really good) was the only one that died. Alright, so let's break it down..............................cont’d http://www.tvsquad.com/2007/12/07/greys-an...to-me-part-two/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ZAP2IT A bit too much on 'Grey's Anatomy' - December 06, 07:48 PM Last time on Grey's Anatomy: Ambulance crash, swastika, Ava, exploding artery, and a bunch of patients I don't remember. This is why you don't do a two-parter in three weeks, ABC. Especially one with such a mind-bogglingly huge number of patients and plotlines. I mean, it wasn't a bad episode--it had many great moments, in fact--but I feel like I spent half my time trying to remember which patient was which, and who was working on what. Too much! ...........cont’d http://blog.zap2it.com/ithappenedlastnight...t-too-much.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------- TV Guide - Ask Matt - Monday, December 3, 2007 Roush on Heroes and Grey's Anatomy Question: Here we are, a few months into the new fall schedule, and the carping and bitching among viewers has reached epidemic levels. It's as if TV fans today derive more pleasure from gloating over a show's perceived failures (such as Grey's Anatomy's new direction, the murder plot on Friday Night Lights or Heroes' much-derided "sophomore slump") than appreciating the enjoyment it still brings us. In Heroes' case, I have never seen such piling on. By the fourth episode, Internet posters were lighting their torches and calling for blood. Even after Tim Kring's public apology to fans, in which he acknowledged his mistakes — and even after the last few much-improved episodes —some fans seem almost disappointed that he "got it" and continued to complain. As for Grey's Anatomy: I don't watch that show, but even I can see that the fan sniping this season is out of control. The bottom line is that TV is essentially free or cheap entertainment. When I find something I love (like Friday Night Lights, The Office or Heroes), I can overlook occasional lapses in storytelling because, hey, it's hard to do 22 perfect episodes a year. Do you think the current hypercritical fan climate will ever lighten up, or is it just something we have to accept about our anonymous Internet culture?— Warren Matt Roush: Griping about TV is hardly new to the Internet culture, but the intensity and immediacy with which people feed their need to complain can be overwhelming and dispiriting to those who'd rather accentuate the positive and simply enjoy — or, as you rightly note, take the adult approach and ride along with the ups and downs that every TV show experiences without ruining the fun for others. I field lots of letters like this, and my usual response is to caution everyone to take these overheated rants with a grain of salt. If it gets in the way of your enjoyment, it's easy enough to ignore, right? http://www.tvguide.com/Ask-Matt/heroes/071203-03 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- RATINGS "Grey's Anatomy" Wins Weekly Ratings War for Hispanic Viewers - December 11, 2007 ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" has picked up the slack for its network after "Dancing with the Stars" took its final bow in November. The most recent broadcast of the weekly one-hour hospital drama drew more Hispanic viewers than any other English-language program, according to figures released by the Nielsen Media Group for the week of Dec. 3-9. "Grey's Anatomy" earned a 6.4 rating among Hispanic viewers to win the first week of results following the "Dancing with the Stars" season finale on Nov. 27. An NFL post-game show on CBS finished second with a 5.9 mark as the program benefited from the conclusion of a heavily hyped AFC showdown between the undefeated New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers...............cont’d http://www.hispanicbusiness.com//news/news.../entertainment/ |
