MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION Okay, first of all – can someone please tell me when this Nurse Rose chick showed up??!! I take a well-deserved, itty, bitty vacation and the next thing I know – McDreamy seems to have forgotten all about little Miss Grey and has turned his attention to some outsider named Nurse Rose. The nerve! You’d think I would’ve gotten a phone call. A text? An email!? For cryin’ out loud, you’d think someone would’ve told everybody’s favorite bartender about the mysterious little lady stealing McDreamy’s heart, but noooooooo. I had to hear about it from Mark Sloan, of all people. Now, of course, nobody ever believes what Mark Sloan says. But, when my boy Alex confirmed the presence of this… nurse… I took it for fact. Apparently, Nurse Rose and Derek have been seeing (and kissing) each other for over a month! The funny thing is, as Mark so eloquently pointed out, they’re not sleeping together. Ah, so they haven’t sealed the deal? Yet. Well, I, for one, think that’s just splendid. Everybody knows that I’m the biggest Mer-Der fan around. So, as long as Derek just sticks to working up patients – and not scrub nurses – then Meredith isn’t completely out of the picture. Right? Right. Here’s hoping that both Derek and Meredith figure things out, get their acts together and fall back in love… with each other. Not that I think they ever fell out of love. No, they just need to work through their own personal issues (by themselves) and then get back together. And, until that happens, I better not find Nurse Rose walking alone in any back alleys. Okay. Now that that’s outta the way… Hello again, world wide web! Oh my, I’ve certainly missed you. Between having twins, running the bar, visiting Walter’s family and going on a mini-vacation to Arizona, I’ve somehow lost touch with you all. What can I say – things got a little crazy. But, I want you to know that I’m back, and I’m going to be updating this here blog a lot more frequently now. I’ll be discussing all things Seattle Grace… Everything from Derek and his scrub nurse to this newfound friendship between Callie and Erica that I’ve been hearing a lot about (from Cristina, mainly). Oh, man, Cristina is pissed! She was just in here ranting and raving... Callie and Erica this. Callie and Erica that. According to Cristina, Callie and Erica are bff’s and didn’t even bother to tell her. Yeah, Cristina allows Callie to move in with her and the next thing she knows – it’s all “my-buddy-and-me” between Callie and Erica. As far as Cristina is concerned, Hahn is supposed to be her “mentor.” She’s not supposed to be Callie’s best friend. You know, it sounds like somebody’s just a wee bit jealous. I’m sure Cristina wishes that she was the one staying out all night and partying with Hahn. Maybe then Hahn would go a little easier on her. I mean, it’s obvious that Cristina’s been trying to impress Hahn, but, so far, she hasn’t had any luck. Of course, Cristina has never been the type of girl who shies away from challenges. The thing is, however, Hahn may be too much of a challenge for even Cristina to handle. Only time will tell, I guess… Cristina took off once Alex started teasing her about losing some sort of contest. Evidently, the two of them were involved in some sort of surgical contest that took place over the last 14 DAYS at the hospital. Izzie and Meredith participated, too. Yeah – the four of them were living in the hospital for a full two weeks. They ate hospital food morning, noon and night. They slept wherever (and whenever) they could. They rarely showered. They DIDN’T LEAVE SEATTLE GRACE. So they’re either really committed or really, really stupid (and smelly). Meredith ended up winning the contest. She supposedly won a highly-coveted, shiny, sparkle pager. What’s so great about a sparkle pager, you ask? Well, not only does it – I don’t know – SPARKLE, but, for the next three months, whenever somebody gets a surgery, that person has to first page the sparkle pager. And, if Mer wants that surgery, then it’s hers! Well, like I said, Alex was ribbing Cristina about being a loser and losing out on the power of the sparkle… And, that’s when Cristina just got up and left, yelling “SPARKLE THIS” on her way out… She was in a bad, bad mood tonight. But, that’s Cristina, what can I say? So, Izzie was depressed about running some patient through a slew of unnecessary tests and George and Lexie had to deal with their crapartment, but, where was Meredith tonight? I’m surprised she never came to the bar. Didn’t she want to celebrate her win? Didn’t she want to show off her sparkle pager live and in person? I guess not. That’s when Alex told me that Mer lost a patient today. He passed her on his way out – Apparently, Meredith was working late. It looked like she was focused on a bunch of research. Good for her! Maybe it’ll help her do that whole “growing up” thing. Besides, Mer could probably stand to avoid the bar for a little while anyway… By the way, I heard that Meredith recently started seeing a therapist. What, was I not doing a good enough job? I listen to people’s problems. I give advice. I offer support. Best of all, I’m free (although tips are always welcome). Well, I guess I can’t be mad at her. I just hope this “therapist” of Mer’s isn’t some quack and will actually help her with all of her issues. Yeah… It’s gonna take some time… Alright, folks, that about does it for me. I’ve gotta get back to work. Speaking of which, I could use a hand or two over here. It’d allow me more time to blog, that’s for sure. So, anybody looking for a job? I should just hire Alex, as much as I see his ugly mug around these parts. Well, anyway, I hope this blog finds you in good health and in good spirits! Until next time… - Joe the Bartender April 24, 2008 THE NURSES STATION Hi all!!!! It’s good to be back amongst the living. Joe and I have been on a hunger strike for several weeks so I haven’t had the strength to blog (is it still a hunger strike if you eat those mini powdered doughnuts? I mean they ARE tiny). Anyhoo, let’s talk about what’s been going on in the halls of Seattle Grace!! Okay what is UP with Meredith and Derek???? He has a girlfriend people, and her name ain’t Meredith. Okay, I thought the downfall of Meredith and Derek would coincide with the end of the world, or a housing bust, or I don’t know, something drastic like… Oh no. Like me going on a hunger strike. That basically is the end of the world. Holy crap! I brought on the demise of Mer/Der myself! I have to go call Joe and discuss. But, my point is that I never ever thought I’d live to see the day when Meredith and Derek weren’t together. But, when Derek got off of the elevator this morning, the woman he was with wasn’t Meredith. The woman he kissed in front of EVERYONE wasn’t Meredith. I was at the nurses’ station standing near Meredith and she tried to look away when that kiss happened. Well, she didn’t look away quickly enough. She saw the kiss and everyone saw the pain on her face before she looked away. The thing is, it’s so obvious that Meredith and Derek still have feelings for each other. The way he looks at her… yeah, they’re still in love. At least, in MY opinion they are. But truly, how long do you expect a man like Derek Shepherd to hang around? I heard that he bought a piece of land to build a house on. He wanted to build a house for Meredith, himself and their future children. Okay, a man doesn’t do that if he’s not ready to settle down. He’s ready. He wants to be married. He wants children. He wants to be with his true love for the rest of this life. And well, maybe there’s another “love” out there for him that wants the same things. Obviously, Meredith Grey doesn’t. Meredith and Derek spent most of the day yesterday not talking. Derek was all business with her and would hardly look her in the eye but here’s why I know that they have feelings for each other: The next morning, after Derek and Rose shared a kiss, Meredith proposed the idea of a clinical trial and Derek just looked at her in that way only reserved for Meredith. The question of the day was (I emphasize “WAS”) “are Rose and Derek doing it?” After Nurse Tyler overheard the conversation between Derek and Dr. Sloan in which Dr. Sloan was teasing Derek for NOT sealing the deal yet, I’d have to say “no” they’re not doing the deed yet. WHY NOT? WHAT IS WRONG WITH ROSE???? If I was in Rose’s position?? Let’s just say that Mr. Shepherd would be fighting me off every minute of the day. Listen, we girls usually “save it” for that special guy. For the guy we think is THE guy. Let me tell you, you can’t get any better than Derek Shepherd. He invented perfection. Yeah, yeah, I know he’s flawed and all that but LADIES, he is the entire package. I mean it. Well, maybe Rose wants to take her time. She IS the rebound girl afterall. And Meredith Grey? Well, she and Derek, they were THE couple. And everyone, including Rose, knows this. Meredith and Derek were like Sonny and Cher, Brad and Jen, Brad and Angelina, Ashford and Simpson… you get the point. Let’s go back to the clinical trial. One would think that Meredith’s proposal is a way to spend some quality time with Derek. What do you think? I honestly think that saving lives IS important to her but I also think deep down, way down, she does want to have some time with her ex beau. I hear she’s seeing a therapist. Okay, you guys may be thinking, “Nurse Debbie, you’re going too far” because therapy is a very intimate, a very personal thing. I know. But seriously people, if you don’t want me in your business, then don’t see a therapist in your place of work is all I’m saying. Besides, we pass in the hall. My weekly appointment is immediately after hers. So Meredith Grey is in therapy. She’s gone through a lot with her Mom’s death, her fake mom’s death, her near drowning… and kudos to her for working it all out. But, I bet Derek is the real reason she’s in therapy. Why isn’t she with him? THEY LOVE EACH OTHER. HE WANTS TO BE WITH HER. SHE LOVES HIM. Okay, so WHY aren’t they together? I’m sure it’s a question she asked herself and I’m sure, since he’s with someone else now, the question is on her mind all day, every day. I overheard her mumbling to herself in the locker room “stupid therapy, stupid problems, stupid have to work all of this stuff out so that I can be a normal human being…” Yeah, she’s got some things to work out. Once she works this stuff out, will it be too late? Will it be too late to get Derek back if that’s what she wants? I don’t know. He and Rose looked mighty cozy. We’ll have to see. Let’s not hold our breaths though, because this saga of Meredith and Derek has been going on for a while now and there’s no telling how it will all end. Well people, now that the hunger strike’s over, all my extracurricular activities involve eating. Time for some bacon and hash browns. Yes, it’s after midnight but Joe serves breakfast all day. Breakfast and beer. My kinda night! April 24, 2008 Grey's Anatomy Preview: Breakups and Hookups! - Apr 16, 2008 Getting her own time in the spotlight at the Writers Guild Foundation's "Anatomy of a Script" series was guest speaker Shonda Rhimes, creator of ABC's Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. Prior to taking the stage Tuesday at the Writers Guild of America in Los Angeles, Rhimes gave TV Guide a peek at what's coming up in the final six episodes of this season's Grey's. According to Rhimes, between split-ups and hookups, the Seattle Grace staff will be riding an emotional roller-coaster. "George and Izzy broke up, and I think they're struggling with what that's going to mean for them in terms of their friendship and where they stand now," says Rhimes. There's drama in store as well for George's jilted ex. "What's going to happen for Callie is really good, really interesting, fairly juicy and I can't tell you a bit of it," teases Rhimes. One thing fans won't be seeing is Callie linking romantically with the Chief, who still holds a candle for his wife. "People always seem to move on and then they come back," says Rhimes. "We're going to be seeing more of Loretta Devine, definitely." Cristina will continue to feel the impact of her breakup with Burke. "The last six episodes are going to be her dealing with that loss and what it means for her career," says Rhimes. As for Cristina finding love down the road, Rhimes hints, "I think she's pretty lovable, so in the future, yes." Also shaking things up will be Addison's return visit to Seattle Grace. "She's going to come in in our [May 1] episode and do some stuff that only Addison can do," says Rhimes. In doing so, Addison's angst is triggered when she learns you can never go home again. "I think we watch her struggle with the difference between who she is in L.A. and who she was in Seattle." Will that struggle land her in the janitor's closet locking lips with McSteamy? Rhimes' allusion to Mark's storyline may be telling: "McSteamy is going to be dealing with that aspect of, 'Is all I am this guy who sleeps around?'" As for the dynamic duo of Meredith and Derek, Rhimes has already announced that the couple will reunite. That said, don't expect smooth sailing for the relationship. "I think they're going to be happy, but I don't think there's any 'happily ever after,'" says Rhimes. "If Meredith and Derek walked off into the sunset, then that would be it. The show would be over." http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TV...ssDate=12345678 My Love Affair .... - Monday, April 14, 2008 http://authorsstudio.blogspot.com/2008/04/...ove-affair.html TV Guide Guest Column/Shonda Rhimes “What’s Next for Grey’s” - 14-Apr-2008 http://bp2.blogger.com/_RrObyQ3XzcY/SAPRw3...27s+Anatomy.jpg |
