Dedicated to the GG’s & the Fab4. Girls, at first I thought I was nuts (not disputing that) when I was going to attempt to send updates from the event, and when I read through the actual text I sent, I was right! At least you must have had a laugh trying to figure out what the hell I was talking about, because as I looked at this now, I’m cracking up. So, here goes... I’m leaving the original and filling in the rest, as I go back a week or 9 days later and recount how the evening went. Since we all love details, to sort of set the stage, it was cold, certainly low 59’s at the most, and I’d day probably upper 40’s by the end of the night, I was wearing a turtleneck and a coat jacket which is warm and I could feel the chill, no idea how Ellen stood out there as long as she did signing autographs or Katherine smoking by the stage door without a coat. LA traffic is as bad as I’d heard, and luckily we were able to get there on time. My best friend, who happens to be a writer moved out to LA in December so it was the perfect time to combine the trip. For those of you who like trivia, Royce Hall is considered one of the finest of America’s concert halls. Today, Royce Hall is not only regarded as the symbol of UCLA, but also as ground zero for the most exciting, innovative and far-reaching programming on the West Coast. http://www.uclalive.org/about_royce.htm I’m going back and adding comments along the way, inserting them where they seem to be most fitting. I had program in my hand, and asked, thankfully that you not pay attention to the grammar! I will write out Shonda’s not tomorrow (this meant I’d type out Shonda’s letter that appeared on the inside of the program, which I did manage on Saturday morning) I used only initials, figuring you’d know the actors I was referring to. The had it set up, you were able to buy drinks and sandwiches, which was good cause on the way to LAX I got the last $ 5 wrap on the plane, so 10 rows behind me got nothing! And, got the last turkey sandwich at the event as well. Finally the doors were open we were able to sit down, and got the program, that is when I typed it to give you heads up, cause I knew it would be difficult once the show started, in spite of the fact I had prepared and saved 22 drafts of messages so I could email you all – it’s great I thought of that, otherwise it would have been impossible. Being the quiet person you all know me to be...it was difficult not to talk to the couple sitting next to me, especially since the lady in the row in front had told them Marc Cherry had just walked by. I asked them if they were involved with the show or just fans, and they told me their friend, the lady that I just mentioned was producer of the DVD’s – her name is Sara, did not get her last name, and that is why they were there. They were very gracious and did not mind my continuous typing and the glare of the blackberry – it’s important, I’ll get back to it later. We were told not to take flash pictures, and since I had no idea how to turn the flash off the camera, I took one of the stage before it started, and followed the rules. This is now hazy, but takes my word for it there was lots of white and black, just not sure which was which. The couch was either white or black…and the cushion was either or with a lobster or scorpion in the opposite color. The piano in the background was definitely black! I It reminded me of a bad movie with the bachelor trying to be cool, and of course, that is probably my very mistaken interpretation of what they were attempting to portray. Anyhow, he is sitting there, with a black leather jacket, no it was not white! Dark glasses, and a glass of red wine, with a much larger than average cup... except maybe they use those for wine tasting. Hilarious to his right, is a boxed set of Giselle and “him” as he welcomes everyone and apologizes for not being there, but that he is in Japan promoting Enchanted. Spoke briefly of the strike, glad it was over, and why the benefit. He was quite funny in his dialogue, and quipped about how important writers were, because they make him look good, otherwise he’s still be the geek. From a movie he mentioned which I have not seen. Sorry!!! My discovery and obsession with PD was after Grey’s. But, it was one of those films he played a geek obviously. Now, this is my editorial comment, I do not understand why she would come on before Ellen, but, admit she was good and is good with comedic timing. She looked gorgeous, hair up, short red dress. She opens the show and has spoof on the importance of crew... or not… as in do they really need make up? Hair-dresser? And out comes he hairdresser, and then writers…well, she had no script and nothing to say and last, lighting? Why need them. And the stage went black. She then introduced Sara Ramirez, she was wearing black, at first I thought mid calf dress, but just not really, had black opaque stockings so hard to distinguish, dress below the knees and boots. What an amazing, amazing voice. She sings Meadowlark. Got a standing ovation, by the way the only one all evening. Katherine Heigl in red dress introduced show Spoof on makeup writes and lightning Sara Ramirez singing Update 3 What is a best boy? This was the question posed throughout the evening, by most everyone on stage… nobody knew! Ellen came on stage and spoke of the various credits that roll at the end of the show and their importance, and then they got to the best boy, and well, what did they do? Who was it? Chandra comes out on stage, they confer for a few seconds and comes back and says… she doesn’t know either! Some of you have asked how tall Ellen is, no idea, really, though I’m short and she wasn’t much taller than me, but I had heels, so I’d say no more than 5’7 but she was wearing boots with heels so who know. She is very petite. She is very thin, when she walked across the stage to meet up with Chandra, I thought with all the speculation that she could be pregnant; well she is so incredibly thin, not a little bump on her. My impression of her was that she was adorable and genuine. EP introduced TR who sang "Losing My Mind" & "You Could Drive a Person Crazy". He was cute, and very, very short. All the men pretty much throughout the night wore black…but none better than Eric Dane! Ellen Pompano is adorable Chandra Wilson came on stage to help her figure out what best boys do. She didn't know either will expand later Sara Ramirez has an amazing voice and got standing ovation. TRK singing now Update 4 Chandra Wilson came on stage she was wearing long black sleeveless dress. Sang "God Bless the Child", much different style than when we heard her on Grey’s, and truly beautiful as well. She sang with a bit of the blues mixed in. Chandra Wilson singing with a tinge of blues This tell you how much attention I paid to Private Practice Stars, after her, Amy Brenneman was on stage; Paul Adelstein sang Slip sliding Away, think he is Cooper. Ed hot (don’t think this needs interpretation!!!) Update 5 Chandra, Paul & Eric on stage at the podium. Chandra mentions, fans are so passionate; you’re scared of them sometimes! CW reads fan letter, you know the type, Dear Shonda, I’m a huge Mer/Der fan, and if you don’t fix them, I’m never going to watch the show…and on and on… suggested that they totally erase the last episode, and use the scene from Pretty Woman, where he comes up the fire escape staircase and sings to her and brings flower. Lots of please, please, please do this and that and the other, because if you don’t, I will never watch the show…signed Merderfan324 Paul Adelstein read all the suggestions that were sent by a fan for what should be the romantic pairings on Private Practice & again, it was very funny but I think that’s when I typed my message! You understand where my priorities were – not on Private Practice. Though I do believe the fan wanted Audra’s character to be with the surfer, which to me is what!! Chandra Wilson read fan letter Pretty woman scene will fill in later passionate fans scared then!! Lol Mewrderfan324 PRP suggestions for matches Update 6 This was hilarious!!! Eric Dane looking absolutely gorgeous, yes even from afar, read his fan letter. The fan says, they can’t take it anymore, why aren’t you showing us more of McSteamy, why is he the only one with clothes on. For God’s sake George is having all the sex. Why bring in this gorgeous man and he’s the only man on the cast with spectacular abs, if he’s not going to take his clothes off. Cause you know, no man that pretty could be smart enough to be a doctor. Why not do a spin off where he goes to a nudist colony, like a naked private practice. Suggested also that the power could go off in the OR room, and he’d have to take his shirt off and operate shirtless, cause the back up generator would be only for the operating equipment, I’m paraphrasing, but it was HILARIOUS.. Imagine our surprise, when we heard who the fan was. Deadpan, he said, signed, Eric Dane. She was adorable, very ditzy almost like Lexie’s rambles. She was talking about the weekly collection where you actually get money out of the pot, and then if you need $ 5 for coffee during the week, there you are. Justin explained that was a raffle, where everyone put money in, and someone took the entire pot every week. She also asked about how big a deal it was that the writers were back after all they get paid all this money, and only work 3 times a week like 6 hours each day. Justin explained that was actually the actors. It was silly & funny. Audra came on & sang "Somedays" with Doug Perry & Dan Perry (musicians). Oh my God, what a voice!!! Yes, I realized who she was when she came on stage, she is actually a 4 time Tony winner, thus my DUH comment. Chyler Leigh & Justin Chambers are funny, cute and ditzy Audra is from PP pcrt duh Update 8 Taking my own intermission here to read some fics... I can’t stay on one thing for too long…and I’m not really ADD, just too damn nosy and curious not to read. You know... “Curiosity killed the cat… satisfaction brought him back.” I’ll be back. Oops... almost forgot, after intermission, the couple I was sitting next two, had their friend Sara sit with them, and introduced me, and asked me to tell her what I had been doing all night… so I showed her my blackberry and my messages to you guy… well, she is the producer of the DVD’s so it was funny, she asked me what I thought, loved them, she does all the interviews, props.. Etc... that we see on the S1/2/3 DVD’s I haven’t gone back to get her full name, but I will, cause I told her I had written Shonda about placing a blue ribbon somewhere on the show… during April, National Child Abuse Prevention Month, that’s another story… yes, I wrote Shonda a 2 page latter about it. She asked me how I liked Private Practice, and I told her, sorry… I don’t. GG’s you are famous!!! She knew I was emailing you throughout the show. They do read the boards….but don’t respond! Well, let me say, she reads the boards, but doesn’t respond. I’d keep this comment to ourselves. Intermission Going to go back and type something legible tomorrow hard as its happening Photos impossible Update 9 Kate Walsh is on video, in Sydney, evident by the backdrop of Sydney Harbor Bridge, and she is getting a massage by an attractive….sexy muscular man! Sorry can’t be there, ABC is working her like a dog, as she sips Veuve Clicqot Champagne (one of my favorites, so I recognized the orange label) and goes on to say how difficult the strike has been on everyone, to much laugher form the audience Taye Diggs is on stage, and his part also involves who/what is the best boy, and he’d like to be the best boy. Loretta Divine sings “I Believe in You & Me” her dress was long, I want to say a neutral color, maybe silver or beige. Amazing voice. Time Daly & Chris Lowell on stage, they too brought roles of script supervisor & best boy. Tim Daly, Paul Adelstein, Chris Lowell and Amy Brenneman sing “California Stars.” KW in Sydney Taye Diggs wants to be best boy ongoing joke this eve Loretta amazing voice Update 10 This was funny, James Pickens comes on stage dressed as James Brown, lip syncing when Loretta comes on stage and says, Jim…what are you doing… you are not supposed to be lip syncing… think the song may have been I feel good…he is contrite, says he can’t sing and takes off his wig. Then he introduces his wife, Gina Taylor Pickens who sings “Dr. Feelgood” touch of blues... touch of jazz, amazing voice as well. James Pickens lip syncing to James brown Update 11 This was hilarious: TR, Sara, Justin, Eric, and Sandra & KH... each reading fan fic. First, Sandra & Sara & I think Eric& JC and they each play the role of a character, as they have to deal with a “wolf”… not just a wolf, Sara says, but a werewolf! Cristina did not flinch! Was Sandra’s line, everyone cracked up. Then you had KH & TR, he played Lord George O’Malley, and Izzie the governess to his sister’s twin boys, and Izzie talks of his taught thighs. I noticed TR is very short & KH towers over him. KH interrupts the scene, and says she remember who best boy is… boy she kissed in 9th grade. At this point they end their scene, and he says, you just kind of ruined this, I don’t think we should be friends anymore. Werorewol Lord George Izzie governess His taut thighs For sisters twin boys TRK is very short KH towers over him Update 12 Audra sings a song, that was supposed to be “It’s the Christian Thing To Do” which I tried, not very diligently, to get the lyrics, because she said, it reminds her of Addie, and for you Private Practice fans, that might be a spoiler. Something about children running through is mentioned in the lyrics. Song Audra sings song remind of Addie Update 13 Shonda Rhimes Shonda was introduce and she gave nothing away, as I believe she did mention KW would appear on Grey's but nothing more, and that was already news that was out earlier in the day. She thanked everyone for attending, and that was it. She did say, she was nervous to be in front of so many people speaking, and quipped that who was she to be there…s he was no McSteamy or McDreamy… but then again…maybe she was.. which was funny, as she is all those characters. She then introduced the “Special Mystery Musical Guest” that appeared on the program, Patti Griffin sang “Up to the Mountain” written as a tribute to Martin Luther King, and played on 4.11 The entire cast came on stage for a few minutes, not longer than 2, and at that point, I thought, what the hell… and took a couple of shots which you saw not very good.. It was simply written as “Ensemble” on the program, and then followed by Sara Ramirez, she sang “Grateful” and after she finished and received her applause the curtains closed, or perhaps the stage was just empty. I had expected that the entire cast to make another appearance on stage, but they did not. Children running through Patty Griffiths? Song milk from 411 Shonda just thanked everyone for attending Update 14 – At this point, it was 133 AM EST, and 1033 Pt, and the Show had been over about 10 minutes and when we walked over at the back, saw about 30 people gathered, and figured, why not wait and see who comes out, after all, a five hour non stop flight merited waiting just a bit, my friend Maureen wanted to kill me. While waiting, you could see KH smoking, it was freezing, don’t know how she was out there without a coat, and SO hugged her goodbye when she left and got in her car, she had a driver. There were cameras and I asked one of the guys who he was with TMZ. I asked him what would be the most coveted footage, and he said JC since he had just been in the “loony bin” which I found so insensitive. As you’ve all seen, I think the most footage shown was Ellen’s footage. Show was over like 10 Waiting in the back SO left hugged KH goodbye who was smoking outside About 30 people here and the cameras Going to wait about 15 min more Update 15 It’s now 2:21 AM EST 11:21PM PT The waiting paid off, it was more than 15 minutes, but Eric Dane came to the barricades with his wife, and signed some autographs. I am not a “yell” at the stars…fan... but, I did say, Eric, you were right; we want to see lots more of Mcsteamy. He was getting ready to get in his car, a silver Porsche, when the girl standing next to me, said, Eric sign my crutches… and he came back, and said that was the ‘strangest/weirdest” one of those words he’d ever had. So, at that point I told him I had flown in from Miami, and he signed the cover of the program, and said, I’m going to Miami tomorrow, I told him I was flying back home Sunday night. Eric is prettier, hotter, steamier up close than I imagined, though the photos I took don’t do justice. Right after he left, Ellen walked out, and she definitely draws the crowd, cause under the covered area before they got the parking area, they had lots and lots of flashes going off., or it could have just been that they had a camera rolling and the lights went on. She approached the crowd, and you’ve all likely seen the videos. She was giving orders to the photographers not to push the girls in the front. She was lovely and gracious, and signed all the autographs requested and posed for photos. She was there at the very least 15 minutes because she went from one end to the other, and there were more than 30 people there. They had parked her Range Rover within the barricades before she got there, and she drove away herself, along wit a friend or assistant, whom she referred to as Maria in the passenger seat. Yes, that was the highlight of the evening, the unexpected chance to meet her and that God awful photo of me, and a very nice shot of her! Ellen & Chandra have always been my favorites, as they are seemingly the most down to earth, without letting fame get in the way, and after meeting her for a few minutes, she really is lovely. Got photo with Ellen and her auth and also ED autograph he is gorgeously pretty She is unbelievably gracious stayed and took photos and signed auth for over 15 min She drove herself there guess with her asst My dear GG’s… hope I did it justice.
