LM: Well I’m here with the ever popular and talented Mr. Patrick Dempsey. How are you this morning?

PD: Very good, thank you very much. A little chilly, yeah.

LM: So you’re coming up on the 100th episode ...

PD: I know.

LM: ....haven’t started shooting yet but you’ve been there from the very beginning. What’s this like for you?

PD: It’s been a ... it’s been a long ride, it’s been great. I’ve been very fortunate to be a part of this show from the beginning. Very grateful for the opportunity that it’s given me.

LM: Derek is kind of going through a rough patch lately.....

PD: I know, it’s so great, I love it

LM: ..... he’s having a tough time

PD: Yeah

LM: .....so I’m wondering what direction you hope to see next for Dr. Shepherd?

PD: Well it’s nice to see him get into something that is a little darker, a little more soul searching, a little more conflict for him and gets him away from that longing, the back and forth between. Do I have this relationship or not and I in am I out? And its nice to see the characters move forward and makes it much more enjoyable to get up and be challenged like that. So I am having a great time with it. I hope we resolve it and come out the other side, get married and move on. Ya know, and then we’ll see what happens next season.

LM: So everyone wants to know so I have to ask. When is this engagement going to happen and is there going to be a wedding?

PD: It happens very soon. There is going to be a wedding...uh....uh.... it’s all happening before the end of the year. I think.

LM: After the wedding, do you see a MerDer baby in your future?

PD: Oh, I think so, definitely, I think that would be an interesting dynamic for her, in her choice for her because she’s an intern and what that gonna do to her career and what’s that about. I think there’s an interesting conflict there that modern women have the dilemma of how do I do it all? How do I raise my child. How do I have my career and how do I be a lover to my husband or my boyfriend. I think that would be an interesting thing that we could explore.

LM: Grey’s Anatomy over the years, a lot of nicknames

PD: Right

LM: Which one do you think is the best and if you could trade with someone who would it be?

PD: Oh, I don’t know if I could trade with anybody. I think it’s funny to have McDreamy, I guess I’ll have that forever now so it’s, it’s, (giggles) quite a nickname.

LM: Thank You so much for talking to us for a few minutes and we’re looking forward to seeing what’s up next on Grey’s Anatomy.

PD: Thank you very much for your time, nice to meet you.
