KENDALL SULLY’S ROOM – DAY Dr. Walters moves to the bedside of Kendall Sully, 60's. Dr. Walters: Good morning, Ms. Sully. I’m Dr. Walters and I’ll be performing your hernia repair today. Kendall: Lovely to meet you. Dr. Walters: I will be performing you pre-operative exam. Do you have any questions before I get started? Kendall: Oh yes. Can you hand me my purse? My friends gave me a bunch of questions and I can’t rember any of them of course. Dr. Walters hands Kendall her purse, she rummages through. Kendall: My friends are such worry warts. They’re off a on a European tour without me. They threatened not to go when this hernia started becoming a problem but I told them no. We’ve been saving up for this for two years. It also helped that I was able to get my deposit back with a doctor’s note – – Dr. Walters: Maybe I can do your exam now, and get to questions later. How does that sound. Kendall: Oh dear, you’re probably on a schedule aren’t you? OK, I’ll find it later. She puts down her bag and stretches out her arms. Kendall: Do with me what you will. She’s adorable, as Dr. Walters starts her exam. End Scene 1 ______________________________ Kendall - Scene 2 INT. OR – NIGHT Dr. Walters is scrubbed, Kendall is all prepped and ready. Before the anesthesiologist is getting ready to put her under, Kendall holds up her hand. Kendall: I need one thing from you before I go under. I haven’t asked for much. I let the nurses read me your scribbled answers to my questions. They told me I’d be okay, that this is a simple surgery. But I’m scared. I don’t want to die. I want to go on the tour to Russia next year with my friends.. I may just be a batty old lady to you, and this may be a silly little procedure, but ... It’s not silly or little to me. I want you to tell me it’s going to be okay. You’re my surgeon, after all. Dr. Walters looks into Kendall’s eyes. Dr. Walters: Don’t worry. I’ll get you through this. You’re going to be just fine. Kendall nods. Kendall: Okay. Thank you. I’m ready now. End Scene 2 ______________________________ SHAYNA - Scene 1 INT. DAVE YOUNG’S ROOM – DAY Dave stares out the window when suddenly ... his crew of friends arrives at the door. MILO, DEXTER, and SHAYNA. Shayna carries and orchid. Dave’s Friends: SURPRISE !!! They all stand there a little awkwardly – – taking in the site of Dave’s face, a friend they’ve never met. Dave looks the opposite of happy. Shayna: Hi. It’s me ... Shayna. You can probably tell from the Dendronian. I thought it would make you feel better ... Dave: (quietly) Get out He shocks the room into silence. Shayna: We can’t come in for a little bit? Dave: (to the nurse) Get them out. They’re strangers. I don’t want them in here. Shayna: We’re hardly strangers, Dave. We chat all night every night for years. We – – what – we flew in – – Dave: GET OUT! We’ve never met. You don’t know me. You don’t – you don’t know anything about me. GET OUT. GET OUT! GET OUT! GET OUT !!!! The friends head out of the room, devastated. End Scene 1 ______________________________ DEXTER - Scene 1 INT. End Scene 1 ______________________________ Sharon - Scene 1 INT. PATIENT ROOM – DAY Dr. Smith is doing post-op exam on SHARON RICE, 30's. The interns stand in the back. Dr. Smith: So, unfortunately we can’t release you until you’ve passed gas. Has that happened yet? Sharon: I’m sorry – I’m trying to listen, but ... are they supposed to look like that? Dr. Smith: Like what? Sharon: The haircut, and the glasses, and I mean they all look so young. They’re supposed to be doctors? Dr. Smith: Why don’t you guys meet me at Mr. Lowry’s room 2218. The interns file out. Dr. Smith turns back to Sharon. Dr. Smith: Sorry about that. You’ll let me know about you gas? Sharon: What ever’ll get me out of here. Dr. Smith smiles, and heads out. Under her breath as she goes .... Sharon: Freakin’ teenagers. End Scene 1 ______________________________ ________________________________________ credit to Crys @ Twop Episode 5.18 "Stand By Me" Sides summary: Sharon (30s) - Dr. Smith is doing a post-op exam and the interns are standing in the back. Dr. Smith says Sharon can't be released until she's passed gas and asks her if that's happened yet. Sharon is distracted by the interns because they look so young and asks if they're supposed to be doctors. Dr. Smith tells the interns to meet her at Mr. Lowry's room and turns to Sharon to apologize and request she be informed about the gas. Sharon agrees and as Dr. Smith leaves, mutters 'freakin' teenagers'. Dexter and Shayna (the sides for the two characters are very similar so I'll just summarize it once) along with Milo are Dave's friends. Dave is looking out the window when they arrive. They yell 'Surprise!' and stand there awkwardly taking in the sight of Dave's face, which they don't recognize. Dave isn't happy. Dexter/Shayna introduce himself/herself and shows the orchid they brought to help cheer him up. Dave tells them to get out and shocks the room into silence. Dexter/Shayna asks if they can't come in for a little bit and Dave tells the nurse to get them out because they're strangers and he doesn't want them there. Dexter says they thought they should be there through it all. Shayna says they are hardly strangers since they chat all night every night for years. Dave starts yelling for them to get out, that they've never met and dont know anything about him. The friends leave the room devastated. Kendall (60s) - Dr. Walters introduces herself and says she'll be performing the hernia repair today. Dr. Walters is going to do a pre-operative exam and asks Kendall if she has any questions. Kendall says she has many questions that her friends gave her that she can't remember and asks Dr. Walters to hand her her purse. Kendall explains that her friends are worry warts and they're off on a European tour. They threatened to cancel their trip when her hernia got worse but she insisted they go because they had been saving up for the trip for 2 years. Dr. Walters says that maybe she'll do the exam now and answer the questions later Kendall understands that Dr. Walters has a tight schedule and decides to find the questions later. Dr. Walters is scrubbed in and Kendall is prepped for surgery. The anesthesiologist is about to put her under when she puts her hand up and looks at Dr. Walters. Kendall says she needs one thing from Dr. Walters. Kendall says the nurses read the scribbled answers to her questions and they told her she'd be okay and that the surgery is simple but she's scared and doesn't want to die. Kendall want to go on the tour to Russia next year with her friends and she wants Dr. Walters to tell her she'll be okay. Dr. Walters looks her in the eye and says she'll be fine. Kendall thanks Dr. Walters and says she's ready.
