SCOOP-AGE & OTHER TRICKSTERS The Ausiello Files Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on 'Grey's Anatomy' - Mar 11, 2009, 11:18 PM Question: Got any clues as to what's ailing Izzie on Grey's Anatomy? --George Ausiello: Sources confirm to me exclusively that Izzie will learn in this week's episode that she has ***** * ********** ******** that has spread to her ***** and *****. Question: I need some Mer-Der proposal scoop, please! --Dee Ausiello: Der's second attempt goes haywire, but the third time's the charm -- Patrick Dempsey (sort of) said so himself on The View yesterday! Casting scoops: 'ER', 'Grey's,' 'Medium,' and more 'Grey's'! - Mar 11, 2009 Amy Madigan is reprising her role as Seattle Grace's on-call shrink next month on Grey's Anatomy, only this time it's not Meredith she’ll be psychoanalyzing, it's Owen (Kevin McKidd). As I teased in last week's Ask Ausiello, the ex-military doc's post-traumatic stress disorder will flare up, causing him to physically hurt Cristina. Also returning to Grey's is Callie's dad, played by Hector Elizondo. Pops, er, pops up in April and is shocked to discover that his daughter is now into girls. http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/03/casting-scoop-1.html --------------------------- Random scooplets: 'Grey's' planning surprise twist for Mer-Der? - Feb 20, 2009, • The latest Grey's Anatomy rumor making the rounds has Shonda Rhimes mulling a bait and switch that would find terminally ill Izzie living and George dying. Oh, wait, I forgot -- neither of them is leaving (wink, wink). In other Seattle Grace happenings, Grey's scribe Pete Nowalk sprinkled some cryptic teases into his lengthy postmortem on last night's episode. The big takeaway: Mer-Der "is not going where you think." http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/02/scooplets-greys.html --------------------------- 'Grey's' exclusive: Does Mer have another MIA sibling? - Feb 24, 2009, Is Grey's Anatomy giving Meredith another long-lost sibling -- this one a byproduct of her mother's affair with the Chief?! Check out the latest installment of Ausiello TV for an answer to that question “ http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/02/greys-exclusive.html --------------------------- 'Grey's' exclusive: Jessica Capshaw inks contract! - Feb 26, 2009 Looks like Callie's new girlfriend is a keeper! Grey's Anatomy has signed Sara Ramirez's latest lesbian crush, Jessica Capshaw, to a contract, sources confirm to me exclusively. The deal calls for the actress to appear in all remaining episodes this season with an option to return as a series regular next fall. The ex-Practice star joined Grey's last month as Seattle Grace pediatrician Arizona Robbins. Although she was initially signed for only three episodes, the possibility existed that it could turn into something more permanent. News of Capshaw's promotion should silence critics who sounded the anti-gay alarm after ABC kindly asked Grey's creator Shonda Rhimes to banish Callie's first girlfriend, the brusque and ballsy Dr. Hahn (played by Brooke Smith), to the hospital's parking lot. "The character was not working for us and the relationship was not working for us," Alphabet prez Steve McPherson acknowledged last month at press tour. Still, though McPherson seems to be having no such reservations about Hahn's kinder, perkier successor, Arizona may want to go with valet over self-parking for the time being. You know, just to be safe. What do you think? Is Capshaw clicking? You a fan of Callie and Arizona (Callizona?)? Or are you still carrying a torch for Callica? Sound off below! http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/02/greys-exclusi-1.html ---------------------------------------------- Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on 'NCIS,' 'Big Love,' 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'The Office,' 'House,' 'Smallville,' 'Brothers & Sisters,' and More! - Nov 18, 2008, Question: What the hell is going on with Grey's Anatomy's Denny and Izzie? -- Jackie Ausiello: Don't be so quick to judge. Who among us hasn't gone to first base with a dead ex at least once in our lives? Exactly. Question: Okay, I'm officially worried that Izzie really does have a brain tumor and Shonda Rhimes is paving the way for Katherine Heigl's departure at the end of the season. Reassure me, Mike! -- Alex Ausiello: Hold on, Alex, I've got Shonda Rhimes on the line….She says she heard through the grapevine that I've been flooded with hundreds of e-mails from mostly irate and confused Grey's fans wondering WTF is going on with this bizarre love story between a dead Denny and an alive Izzie….She says she'd like to address Ask Ausiello readers directly via this exclusive statement.... "I think the love triangle with Denny, Izzie, and Alex is among the most interesting we've ever done. Watching the chemistry between Jeffrey and Katherine again has been really touching. I can't wait for our viewers to see where we're taking it. But what it won't involve is Izzie having a brain tumor." Alright, so the brain tumor theory is out the window. What does that leave in the way of logical explanations? Scroll down to the comments section and start brainstorming. You never know, I may run your idea in next week's Ask Ausiello and pass it off as my own! Question: What's next for Callie on Grey's Anatomy now that Hahn's gone? -- Amy Ausiello: The official ABC logline for the Dec. 4 episode includes this little morsel: "Callie can't figure out if Sadie is just friendly or flirtatious." Translation: Sadie's next for Callie. http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2008/11/ask-ausiello--2.html The Ausiello Files: March 6, 2008 Q: Can you help me out with some Grey's Anatomy scoop — specifically about Meredith and Derek? —Sarah A: Well, this would no doubt have an impact on those two: I hear Grey's creator Shonda Rhimes may introduce another half sibling for Mer, this one a by-product of her mother's years-long affair with the Chief. An ABC rep had no comment, but this plot would explain a recent casting call the show put out looking for — smoking-gun alert! — biracial actors in their 20s. Posted Feb 27, 2009 | Published in issue #1037 Mar 06, 2009 Question: You got anything on the Mer-Der proposal on Grey's Anatomy? --Cas Ausiello: Mer not only learns about the engagement ring in next week's episode, but she sees it, too. Unfortunately, the circumstances are less than ideal in both cases. Question: Please, give me some spoilers regarding Cristina and Owen on Grey's Anatomy. I'll settle for anything! --Kelly Ausiello: Even if it's a little icky? Okay, you asked for it: Owen's post-traumatic stress disorder will take a turn for the worse when he ends up physically hurting Cristina, albeit unintentionally. To find out what happens next, pick up the Spring TV Preview-themed issue of EW (on sale Friday) and turn to page 35. Question: Put my mind at ease and tell me we won't be seeing dead Denny again on Grey's Anatomy. --Jenny Ausiello: I bring you good news from Jeffrey Dean Morgan. "If they are planning on having me back this season, they’d have to do it awfully fast because I am about to have a major scheduling conflict," Morgan told us at Monday's Watchmen premiere. "I'm going to shoot a movie called The Resident with Hilary Swank. It is pretty much Psycho meets Fatal Attraction. I am a guy who becomes obsessed with Hilary’s character. So I don’t see how Denny could make a comeback this season. There's always next season. You know, I trust Shonda [Rhimes], so if she wanted me back, I would do everything possible to get it done. But I think dead Denny played his part. He gave Izzie the warning. In a way, the whole Denny ghost-reaper-angel thing was similar to my experience with fans of Watchmen. People were merciless about both projects on the Internet, and eventually you just have to stop reading and trust your boss and do your best." http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ask or Watch with Kristen Grey's Anatomy Sneaks: Can Patient X Be Saved? - Mar 10, 2009 What is killing patient X? Will the other doctors be able to save their sick friend Izzie? Who is Bailey's awesome new hairdresser, and how can I get an appointment with her? These are the questions we'll be asking after Thursday's all-new installment of Grey's Anatomy, wherein Izzie's health problems are finally faced head-on. The smart money (or at least a self-proclaimed doc in our comments) says Izzie's diagnosis is probably skin cancer that's taken up residence in her brain, causing the Dennyvision episodes from earlier this season. Whatever the specific condition, ABC just released a logline for the March 26 episode, and apparently in that ep, "[Izzie's] medical condition requires her to undergo a difficult surgery." Awww, poor Iz. In the meantime, check out the two additional sneak peeks below, where Callie and Sloan discuss Arizona's attractions, and where Owen Hunt continues to be a badass to a nearly absurd degree. 3 Sneak Peeks #1 http://vids.eonline.com/services/link/bcpid1396519019/bctid15257996001 #2 http://vids.eonline.com/services/link/bcpid1396519019/bctid15257997001 #3 http://vids.eonline.com/services/link/bcpid1396519019/bctid15251331001 http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b103735_greys_anatomy_sneaks_can_patient_x_be.html Who's More Doomed on Grey's: MerDer or Izzie? - Mar. 12, 2009 Whoa. Mucho story progress on tonight's installment of Grey's Anatomy. Check out a sneak peek above of next week's episode (wherein Izzie and the robot fight for the future...), and then read on for a breakdown of what went down with Alex & Izzie, Sloan & Lexipedia, Callie & Arizona, Owen & Cristina, and, of course, Mer & Der... Alex & Izzie: Aw, as the interns said, "The girl is toast." As correctly predicted by our commenter MDs, Izzie has "metastatic melanoma with mets (metastases) to liver, skin and brain"—and her prognosis, even with chemo and radiation, is supposed to be no more than a few months. Meanwhile, she's preternaturally calm and happy, enjoying her silly bickering friends and her boyfriend with a bright future, and doing an amazing job teaching her students. And Izzie's diagnosis and terminal illness is not just going to kill her—the consequences are going to be devastating to George and Alex, too. How are you handling it? Post in the comments. Sloan & Lexipedia: As Marc put it, "You think you broke me, Little Grey? You're the one who put me back together!" They are ridic. Love them. Love. Also, Chyler Leigh does not look pregnant! Callie & Arizona: Two words for you on this situation: Arizona = Yay! They have megachemistry, Callie is so darn winsome, and Arizona is the cutest little trick in shoe leather. More, please. Owen & Cristina: It's awful that these two have to suffer, but if they didn't, they would be the odd men out in this world. Looking forward to Owen getting his head on straight, because Dr. and Mrs. Dr. McBadass have a lot to offer the world, not to mention this show. P.S.: Was Izzie's statement to Cristina before she revealed her cancer ("You're a robot. You can take it") overly harsh, or was it pitch-perfect for the characters and their relationship? Mer & Der: Wow. Just wow. For an episode that started with Owen slamming Cristina into a wall, it was the end of the episode that was disturbingly violent. One of the creepiest things to appear on Grey's Anatomy since Rebecca/Ava's (Elizabeth Reaser) psychotic break was the moment when Derek swatted Mer's engagement ring across the meadow and then tossed the baseball bat at her. How are you feeling about their relationship right now? Mer is terribly believable when she says she's sticking with him, but how much can she (and we) be expected to take?! Long story short: This episode was crazysauce with a side of nuts. http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b104241_whos_more_doomed_on_greys_merder_izzie.html Grey's Anatomy Sneaks: Can Patient X Be Saved? 3 Sneak Peeks Clip #1: “Izzie's not the new O'Malley” This clip perfectly represents how passive-aggressively bitchy all of the characters on Grey's Anatomy truly are. Cristina (Sandra Oh), who needs minions to do her crap work, muses that Izzie is becoming the "new O'Malley" (as in, falling behind the rest), while Richard (James Pickens Jr.) gets snippy with Bailey (Chandra Wilson), whose hairdo is just fabulous, about her decision to do a peds fellowship. Professional, much? #1 http://vids.eonline.com/services/link/bcpid1396519019/bctid15257996001 Clip #2: “No judging” By far, my favorite male-female friendship on Grey's Anatomy, Callie and Mark (Sara Ramirez and Eric Dane) have loads of on-screen chemistry together. In this clip, Mark is still recovering from his fistfight with Derek at the end of the last episode. Callie does her best to avoid contact with Arizona Robbins, after her indiscretion at Joe's bar. #2 http://vids.eonline.com/services/link/bcpid1396519019/bctid15257997001 Clip #3: “Shock her and save her or shock her and kill her?” The cowboy studs of medicine, Alex (Justin Chambers) and Major McHottie (Kevin McKidd) have a trauma patient today who is suffering from a grand mal seizure. She is not responding to the meds they gave her and going into defib. Using the paddles could save her, or it could kill her. As Major McHottie has demonstrated time and time again, he jumps right into action in order to save lives, not wasting a moment to think things through. I'm sure this is what he was accustomed to doing in Iraq; I wonder how it will work out for him this time. #3 http://vids.eonline.com/services/link/bcpid1396519019/bctid15251331001 http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b103735_greys_anatomy_sneaks_can_patient_x_be.html --------------------------- Sam in Sauvie Island, Ore.: Enough about stupid Izzie already! Any dish on Meredith and Derek who are the whole point of Grey's Anatomy in the first place!? Good news Mer-Der fans: There's an upcoming ep called "Elevator Love Letter," and you know all of Meredith and Derek's best scenes happen in the elevator! That said, Derek is going to need Mer in the weeks to come—in the next new episode he decides to quit his job after learning exactly how many patients have died under his care. And if you aren't an Izzie fan, you should definitely watch the next episode—the interns diagnose her with something "unsettling." (Maybe she just needs a little Pepto-Bismol?) Student Doc: I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but every med student taking neuro right now is going nu.ts on how textbook Izzie's brain tumor is. Which, while sad, will give us back a little of that beloved Grey's Anatomy drama we all love. I'm certainly not one to argue with med students! But I'm also not one to argue with Shonda Rhimes, and she specifically told us "no" when asked if the rumors of Izzie getting a brain tumor were true. See for yourself here. She couldn't have been lying, could she? If you are a Grey's Anatomy viewer who happens to be a med student, doctor and/or brain surgeon (paging McDreamy!), please comment below and give us the skinny. Is Izzie's tumor really a lock? http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b101254_spoiler_chat_does_izzie_have_textbook.html --------------------------- Fantasy Casting: If Meredith Grey Had a Half-Brother... - Feb 26, 2009 http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b101854_fantasy_casting_meredith_grey_had.html --------------------------- Spoiler Chat: Is Katherine Heigl Dying to Become George Clooney? - Mar 9, 2009 Finally. After months of speculation, this Thursday we'll learn exactly what is wrong with Grey's Anatomy's Dr. Isobel Stevens, aka Katherine Heigl, aka..."George Clooney." Yes, you heard that right. George Clooney! According to Grey's star Justin Chambers, that's the fun little nickname he and his costars have given Heigl, since she is "the movie star." Does that mean she's also becoming an ex-TV star? Is someone finally spilling the beans that Katherine is leaving for good? Read on for what Justin has to say, what our medical experts (yes, we're fancy!) insist will be Heigl's diagnosis this Thursday and a whole heap of exclusive scoop on favorites like Gossip Girl (Chuck and Blair!), Lost (Sawyer and Kate!), Desperate Housewives (girl on girl!) and more... Marlene in London: Is Izzie going to die on Grey's Anatomy? Justin Chambers (Alex) tells us the Grey's cast has four more episodes left to shoot of the current season but insists that he and his costars are still in the dark as to whether Katherine and T.R. Knight will leave the show. "I really don't know," he tells us. "I don't think so, but that's kind of between their managers and them, the writers and producers. But we sure love having them on the set. They're great to work with. It's a huge, successful show, and they're a big part of the success. Hopefully they'll stay." Marco in Orlando, Fla.: What does Izzie's illness mean for Alex? Um, Emmy? Could be. From what I hear, Justin/Alex has some pretty gripping material up ahead. (And of course, if it's anything like Heigl's storyline with Denny, you will need a Costco-size crate of Kleenex!) "I know that Izzy's not doing well, and so I'm there to support her and hopefully it will all work out," Justin says. "There are trials and tribulations for all of the characters. It's good television." Nelson22 in Irvine, Calif.: Does Izzie really have cancer? Spoiler Alert! This Thursday, the interns discover what's wrong with "Patient X," unbeknownst to them that it's actually Izzie, and according to Chambers, yes, it's the big dreaded C-word. I've also heard from some of you fans who happen to be members of the medical community, and Izzie's diagnosis doesn't sound pretty. Med student Tamara says: "It's not really a 'textbook tumor.' The Denny hallucinations are way too complex because they involve all five senses. If the disease has anything to do with that mole, then she has a malignant melanoma with brain metastasis, and that's bye-bye Izzie." A second fan who asked to be called simply "MD," agreed: "Izzie appears to have a malignant melanoma with metastasis to the brain." Breaking it down for you, that little mole is cancerous, and it's spread to her brain, and that is most likely lethal. We'll also possibly be meeting Izzie's mother (check spoiler section below) Lolla Rosa in Oklahoma City: Any new Grey's Anatomy news? In the second-to-last ep of the season, we'll meet Ronnie, a "heartwarming" trailer-trash woman in her mid-to-late 40s, and the producers only want star names to play the part. Izzie famously grew up in a trailer park. Could this be her mother, come to Seattle to take her ailing daughter home? If so, whom do we want to play Izzie's mom? Name your favorite qualified actresses in the comments http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b103517_spoiler_chat_katherine_heigl_dying.html Grey's Anatomy: Izzie Has Cancer for Sure - Mar 6, 2009 Let the record show that when cornered, Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice boss Shonda Rhimes will outwit you, even if she has to stretch the truth a little. Last summer, after tabloid reports surfaced that Izzie Stevens would have a brain tumor this season on Grey's Anatomy, we asked Shonda about the stories and she told us, point-blank "no"—there was no truth the stories. Nine months later, after viewers rejected the season's major dead Denny plotline as patent nonsense—a situation that might have redeemed itself if those viewers had confirmation that he was a tumor-induced hallucination—Justin Chambers has confirmed that, duh, Izzie has a cancer. What exactly did he say and when will we see the news onscreen? According to TV Guide Canada, Justin Chambers (who plays Izzie's boyfriend and fellow doctor Alex Karev) said, "Izzie has cancer, so I'm there to support her...I would expect Alex to shut down a little bit if something awful happens to Izzie, but these are opportunities to see his chivalrous side and his true love for her, so there should be some interesting stuff coming up." (Whoo, Izzie-Alex romance!) And yes, in next Thursday's all-new episodes of the ABC drama, Izzie's flock of interns will finally nail down her illness, although as far as they know, they're only diagnosing "patient X." Also in Thursday's ep, Derek fuh-reaks out about his surgical record and Mer seems unable to help, and over on Private Practice, Addy continues her long search for true love. Check out the sneak peek videos below to see for yourself. http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b103134_greys_anatomy_izzie_has_cancer_sure.html ------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ET ---- E!Online --------------------------- --------------------------- --------------------------- Edited by jenlou1986, Mar 16 2009, 04:03 AM.
