Warren & Rachel Kramer (married couple in their 50's) - They're nervous and shaking while talking to 2 interns in the ER. They see Dr. Thomas walk by and ask if he can help them. Warren says he can't talk to these children (refering to the interns). Dr. Thomas sends the interns away and the Kramers are left with him who is a man their age. The Kramers tell Dr. Thomas that their kids went off to college and they wanted more intimacy so they tried something new they saw in a magazine that Rachel pulls out "20 Techniques to Re-ignite Your Nights!" They tried #9 and Warren got injured down there. Dr. Thomas is tending to Warren's injury while interns looks on and Warren asks how people have to be there for that. Dr. Thomas explains that it's a teaching hospital and asks Warren if he wants the interns to leave. Warren lets them stay since they've already seen part of the show. Dr. Thomas finishes and Warren thanks him and says never again will he do something to spice things up. Dr. Smith sits with Rachel and picks up the paperwork/chart and notices the magazine under and asks her if she wants it. Rachel tells hims to keep it because it's caused enough trouble. She asks Dr. Smith if kids like him do that sort of stuff. All she and Warren wanted was to spice things up and now Warren won't look her in the eye. They ruined their marriage with intimacy. Dr. Smith answers that they do some of that stuff. Rachel asks if he does #9 and he says NO. Carrie (30's and attractive) - Carries is walking down the hall with 2 coffees and sees Patrick standing outside her father's room looking at charts. Carrie goes up to Patrick and says that she thought she had imagined seeing him by the elevator last night because she needed some sleep or the stress of her father made her see him but he's actually there. There's an awkward moment and Patrick asks her how she is. Carrie getting a little upset. She says she's a little confused to see him standing 2 feet in front of her. The last time she heard from him was a few months ago when he emailed her breaking off their engagement with no explanation. She says she's pissed. They talked to each other everyday since they were 17, even when they were miles apart. She's also freaking out because her dad is throwing up blood and she doesn't know what's going on. She's also exhausted because she's been up for 36 hours but mostly, she's incredibly happy to see Patrick. Carrie gets teary eyed and gives Patrick a hug and he tentatively ties to hug her back. Carrie stands worried by her father David (60's). Dr. Walters comes in and Patrick is also there. David's monitors have started beeping faster because his blood pressure is increasing. Dr. Walters says they need to prep him for surgery because the radiation has caused the scar tissue to be even more infected than they thought. Carrie starts freaking out because she doesn't know what's going on. David apologizes saying he didn't want Carrie to worry because she worries so much these days, all he wants is for her to be happy (he looks over at Patrick). David then tells her he's had cancer for the past 5 years. Carrie sobs and Patrick tries to comfort her. Dan & Lisa Peck (30's), daughter Stacy (9) - Stacy is in bed. Dr. Williams presents the case (secondary pulmonary hipertension due to a heart defect since birth). Dr. Austin kneels by Stacy's bedside and explains to her that Dr. Williams is explaining to her parents that they are going to take a closer look at the part of her heart that pumps blood. Dr. Austin remarks that she likes Stacy's socks and Stacy explains they are her soccer team's socks and she's the best on the team. Stacy wants to know how soon after Dr. Austin has fixed her heart can she go back to playing soccer. Dr. Austin doesn't have an answer. Dr. Williams tells Dan and Lisa that Dr. Cruse will be performing the exploratory surgery and will be in shortly. Dan asks if Dr. Cruse is a good doctor. Dr. Williams says she's the best and they couldn't ask for better. Dan asks what if they decide they can't operate on Stacy's heart. Dr. Williams answers that they'll insert a shunt which will provide constant IV medication directly into Stacy's heart until she gets a heart transplant. Dan wants to knows how long that will be, if it'll be months. Dr. Williams doesn't know but says it could possibly take months. Lisa and Dan get extremely upset because Stacy may have to spend months in that bed. Dr. Austin enters Stacy's room. Stacy's pale, her chest hurts and she's having difficulty breathing. The monitors are going crazy. Dan and Lisa rush in. Dr. Austin performs a pericardiocentesis. Dr. Austin and Dr. Williams enter to find Dan and Lisa standing next to Stacy. Dr. Williams says this new medical backpack will help Stacy with her heart defect but she didn't mention it before because there's a higher risk of complication as opposed to the older method. Lisa reasons by saying there's a higher percentage of risk on the monkey bars too. Kids fall and break bones but they can't keep Stacy off them. Dan tells Dr. Williams they know their little girl and if she's tied to a bed she'll just get sicker. If the backpack allows her to be a kid, they'll take the risk. Lisa and Dan look hopeful for the first time. Young Man- Clinic has a handful of patients being treated by Dr. Walters and interns. Dr. Walters helps correct an intern who's messing up the stitches in the Young Man's arm. Dr. Walters tells the intern he's going to have to start over. The Young Man says Dr. Walters has to be kidding. Dr. Walters says sorry and the intern starts again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The Kramers are in their 50's and Dr. Thomas is about their age which sounds like it'll be Richard. Patrick is one of the male docs and the only one who fits is Hunt. Pretty cold to break an engagement by email. It'll be interesting to see his ex-fiance around.
