Disclaimer: Grey's is on really soon. We have idea of how tonight's episode might go. But really, we're not sure. And if we owned Grey's we would be sure. But we don't, so we're not. Meredith clutched Derek's hand tightly as they walked into the main building of Hannah's ballet camp. She wasn't nervous. She wasn't scared. She just wasn't entirely sure she could stand up entirely by herself if she tried. Leave it to Derek to suggest taking a shower and then having sex with her in the shower, and then again after the shower. She definitely wasn't sure standing was possible. "You okay?" he frowned slightly, looking at their hands. "Yep," she giggled. "Just wobbly." "Wobbly?" he laughed softly. "The last time...against the wall..." she whispered, "evil." "Oh that was fun," he smirked. "I still don't think...I mean, can you have like...I haven't recovered." "That's only because that last time was all about you." "And entirely evil." "Amazing." "Fine, evil and amazing," she sighed, leaning into him. "Hmm..." he breathed, squeezing her hand. "Today was great." "It really was," she murmured. "Ballet camp was the best idea ever," he grinned and then frowned. "I'm a terrible father." "She loves it," she assured him. "You'd only be a bad dad if you sent her here against her will to have...well...to do what we did." "You have a point," he nodded. "Daddy!" "Hannah!" Derek grinned. "Hi!" the little girl came running towards him, throwing her arms around his legs. "Guess what! Guess what!" "What?" Derek asked, giving her a tight squeeze. "We're gonna have r'cital!" she shouted excitedly, holding up an envelope. "You are?" Derek smiled. "When?" "At the end of camp," she nodded. "And we're gonna have costumes and everything!" "Very very cool," Derek nodded, quickly looking up at Meredith. "Isn't that cool, Mer?" "Oh," Meredith smiled, "yeah. That's really cool, Han." "Mer and I will have to book the day off to make sure we don't miss it," Derek grinned. "You're gonna come too, Mereith?" Hannah grinned widely, moving from Derek's grasp to hug Meredith's legs tightly. "Of course I am," Meredith giggled lightly. "Good," Hannah nodded firmly. "Guess what, Hannah?" Derek asked as he pulled himself off the floor and grabbed Meredith's hand again. "What?" Hannah grinned. "Meredith and I were talking and we think today is a good day to go find Eskimo." "Really?" Hannah bounced slightly. "Really, really?" "Really really." "Yay!" she clapped her hands and then ducked under their hands. "'Scuse me, Mereith," she said, trying to break their hand hold. "No, Han," Derek shook his head, watching Meredith slightly chew her lip. "Meredith's got that hand. You can have my other one." "But you're holding my bag," Hannah frowned. "And I gotta hold your hand cause I'm real small." "I know I do," Derek nodded. "But I want to hold Meredith's hand too. So one of you can carry the bag and I'll hold both hands." "I'll take the bag," Meredith smiled widely, her head feeling suddenly light. Well, not suddenly. But not post-sex light. Just...happy light. Really happy light. "Thanks, Mer," Derek smiled lightly as he handed it to her and then held his hand out to Hannah. "Free hand, Ms. Shepherd." "Okay," Hannah nodded, grasping his hand tightly. "Are we gonna go right now and get Eskimo?" "We are," Derek nodded. "And then we'll take him home and maybe go out for supper. Or order in if you want to stay home with him." "He's gonna be just a baby, Daddy," Hannah sighed. "He can't be home all by himself." "Ordering in it is," Derek laughed softly. "That okay with you, Mer?" "Yeah," Meredith smiled. "That's great. Puppies can't be all by themselves." "Of course not," he rolled his eyes. "He's gonna need lots of toys, Daddy," Hannah piped up. "Toys and food and a bed!" "We'll get that all today at the pet store," he nodded. "Can we get him a i'loo?" Hannah asked. "Eskimos live in i'loos." "And where do you suppose we put this igloo?" Derek asked, smiling at the sound of Meredith's giggle. "In my room." "I don't think you have room for it in there." "And igloos have to be cold, Han," Meredith giggled. "They have to be in cold places. Your room's too warm." "She has a point," Derek nodded. "Maybe when we move to our new house we can build him a dog house that looks like an igloo." "In my room?" Hannah asked. "Dog houses are usually outside." "But Eskimo's gonna be lonely outside." "He won't be outside all the time," Derek sighed. "But dogs like to be outside to play a lot. They like it." "Can I be in the i'loo too?" Hannah asked as Derek helped her into the backseat of the car. "No, Hannah, dog houses are just for dogs," Derek laughed. "Yeah, but I can stay there sometimes," Hannah pointed out. "Mereith has a house and she stayed at my house today." "She did," Derek nodded. "But Meredith's house is a people house and so is ours. Eskimos house will be for dogs." "Can I visit him in the i'loo?" "Well...no. But you can play with him outside." "Fine," Hannah sighed dramatically. "Fine," Derek echoed as he pulled back and closed the door before jumping in his side of the car. "She sounds so sad," Meredith giggled as she took his hand, squeezing it tightly. "She'll get over it," he laughed, leaning over to kiss Meredith quickly before starting the car. "Kissing's gross, Daddy." "Kissing's fun," Derek smiled. "Nuh uh, it's gross." "You say that now," Meredith giggled. "Boys are gross too," Hannah nodded. "'Cept Daddy and Uncle Monkey." "Exactly," Derek nodded. "Always remember that." "You're that dad," Meredith laughed. "I'm what dad?" he frowned. "The dad who is going to buy a gun when she's old enough to date." "I am not going to buy a gun," he groaned. "And who said anything about her ever being old enough to date." "I was thirteen," she giggled. "Will Dennison kissed me after gym." "Will Dennison," Derek nodded. "His name has been added to the list." "Almost twenty years ago, Der." "So?" "Daddy!" Hannah shouted from the back seat. "I got an idea!" "That's great, Han," Derek smiled. "But Mer and I are talking right now so can you hold onto that idea and tell us as soon as we're done?" "What if I forget it?" "Keep repeating it in your head over and over again." "Fine," Hannah crossed her arms and then started muttering under her breath. "Are you going to answer my question?" Derek asked Meredith, laughing softly at his daughter. "Oh, um," Meredith couldn't help but grin. He definitely hadn't ever done that before. Hannah interrupted all the time, she could remember conversations they had never finished because of her. "You can't hate a guy who kissed me twenty years ago." "Want to make a bet?" "Derek...if you hated every guy I've kissed and...well, um, kissed, that would be...well, not a lot. But there's...never mind. You just can't hate all of them." "I'm pretty sure I can. Even if it is a long list," Derek shrugged. "Feel free to hate every girl I've kissed." "Unlike you I'm not twelve and I'm not jealous of people I've never met." "I'm a tiny bit hurt," he shook his head. "You'll get over it." "We'll see about that," he sighed. "Daddy, are you done yet?" "Yes, we're done," Derek nodded. "What was your idea?" "Okay," Hannah took a deep breath, "what if we built a people house i'loo and then Eskimo can be in the people house i'loo with me." "You want to build a people house igloo?" "Yep." "Well umm...we could build you a playhouse that looks like an igloo. Yes." "And then Eskimo can bet with me stead of in the dog house i'loo?" "Yep," Derek nodded. "Okay, good," Hannah grinned. "Just for me and Eskimo. No grown ups allowed." "No grown ups," Derek smiled, squeezing Meredith's hand. "Kids are kind of random," Meredith giggled softly to Derek. "They really are," he nodded. "I guess we'll have an igloo on our land." "Have fun explaining her igloo isn't made of ice." "Really? I was thinking you could have a go at that." "You're the one who agreed to a people house igloo." "But I've been doing this for six years, you need to be broken in." "I...I do?" she pulled back slightly. "I mean, I figured...I just...I do?" "Yeah, you do," he nodded firmly. "But...that's probably a bad idea. Like, a really bad idea." "Why?" he frowned. "Because...I'm...me." "Yes." "And probably shouldn't be allowed to influence small children at all." "Mer, you already do." "Not in...not in a really big way." "Yeah, you do." "I really don't." "Mer...you do." "How?" "You don't think Hannah looks up to you? She adores you, Mer. Of course you have an influence on her." "But not like...not like parenty influence." "Maybe not yet but you're moving in with us." "Eventually." "So eventually...that influence will happen." "Yeah but...eventually is a long time," she sighed. "And...puppy houses and people houses and igloos are your...they're your thing." "Okay, letting you off the hook this time." "Puppy store!" Hannah exclaimed as they pulled into the parking lot. "Puppy store," Derek laughed. "You have to stay calm." "I'm calm," Hannah said though she was bouncing. "Of course you are," Derek smiled. "What does Eskimo look like, Daddy?" Hannah asked as Derek got out of the car to unbuckle her. "I don't know, Han. The three of us have to pick him out." "How will we know which one he is?" she asked, taking Derek's hand. "We'll just know," Derek explained. "But he's definitely a puppy," Meredith interjected as Derek took her hand with his free one. "Definitely a puppy," Derek agreed. "If I call his name, will he come to me?" Hannah pulled Derek into the store. "Not right away, the puppies here don't have names so he's going to have to learn it." "Hey, guys, I'm Erin, what can I do for you today?" a sales associate came forward. "Looking for a puppy," Derek smiled. "An Eskimo," Hannah spoke up. "Any kind of puppy," Meredith giggled. "That will be named Eskimo." "Okay," Erin grinned, bending down to Hannah's height, "we have a lot of puppies here. So how about you and Mom and Dad come back with me and we'll see which puppy is your favorite?" "Okay," Hannah nodded excitedly. "Come on," Erin smiled, leading them towards the back, where they could all hear puppies barking excitedly. "Hannah, be careful with the puppies," Derek murmured as his daughter let go of his hand to look at the puppies closer. "Can I pet them?" Hannah asked excitedly. "Of course you can," Erin grinned before looking at Derek and Meredith. "Is there any kind you had in mind?" "Oh," Meredith breathed, "I'm not...they're...I'm just..." "Hannah was thinking something small but I have no idea if she's going to stick to that," Derek cut her off, squeezing her hand tightly. "Can I hold one, Miss Erin?" Hannah asked excitedly. "Of course," Erin nodded. "Which one would you like to see?" "Um..." Hannah chewed on her lip, looking at all the yapping puppies. "That one! He has blue eyes like me!" "Be careful with him," Derek reminded his daughter. "I know, Daddy," Hannah grinned as Erin handed her the small white, grey, and brown puppy with clear blue eyes. "What kind is he?" "He's a Husky," Erin grinned. "A Husky?" Hannah grinned, petting the puppy eagerly as he licked her. "I like him Daddy." "You do?" Derek asked. "He'll get pretty big, Han. He's not going to stay tiny." "Yeah, but he's got blue eyes like me!" "He does have your blue eyes," Derek laughed. "He's my puppy brother," Hannah giggled. "What do you think, Mer?" Derek asked. "Oh," Meredith smiled slightly, bending down to pet the puppy with Hannah. "He is cute." "Huskies get pretty big," Erin informed them. "And they need a lot of room to run around in." "We have room," Meredith smiled. "And a lot of land." "We do," Derek echoed. "We're in the process of building a home in the middle of nowhere." "Then that's perfect for Huskies," Erin nodded. "So Hannah...is that Eskimo?" Derek asked. "Yep," Hannah nodded firmly, looking down at Eskimo. "Hi, my name is Hannah Shepherd and Daddy says you don't got a name yet. That's okay, cause you're Eskimo. And that's Daddy. And that's Mereith. She's Daddy's girlfriend." "So I guess we'll take him," Derek smiled. "Yay!" Hannah grinned. "You're gonna come home with me, Eskimo. And sleep in my room and on my bed and then in the morning we'll lay down with Daddy. And Daddy will make pancakes and french toast and waffles and go on walks and everything!" "Puppies can't eat those things," Derek laughed. "And I think I need a bigger bed." "Probably," Meredith laughed as she stood up. "And we're going to need all the puppy stuff," Derek sighed. "He's gonna need lots of toys," Hannah nodded, hugging the wiggling puppy close to her. "Another Shepherd to be spoiled," Derek laughed. "C'mon, Eskimo," Hannah said, "let's go find you lots and lots of toys." "How many do you think lots and lots of are?" Derek asked Meredith, grabbing her hand again. "Twenty? Thirty?" Meredith smiled, leaning into him. "It's a good thing I have a high paying job," he sighed. "They're cute together," she giggled slightly, watching Hannah walk ahead of them, whispering excitedly to the puppy in her arms. "They are," Derek nodded. "I'm happy he's going to be a big one." "I couldn't see you with a small yappy dog," Meredith nodded, squeezing his hand. "I would have hated the thing," he laughed softly. "Daddy, can me and Eskimo sleep with you tonight?" Hannah stopped in front of them. "We'll have to figure that out tonight," Derek nodded. "Mereith's sleeping at her house right?" "I don't know," Derek shrugged. "We haven't decided but she might sleep over again. It's up to her. I want her to sleep over tonight." "I...I want to sleep over too," Meredith whispered. "In that case, yes, Hannah, Meredith is sleeping over." "Oh," Hannah frowned. "No frowning about that," Derek shook his head. "You two can sleep with us if you want but we'll have to figure out how to make it work for everyone." "Okay," Hannah sighed. "C'mon, Eskimo." "I have a feeing that's going to be a headache tonight," Derek whispered to Meredith. "Yeah," she sighed. "We can handle it," he murmured, squeezing her hand tightly. "No asking you to move." "Thank you," she whispered. "And just...I mean...will we sleep alone...ever? Or even, I mean, there was a lot of fun stuff today. A lot of good things. So I'm not asking for more. I'm just...ever?" "Definitely," he nodded. "We'll set up rules with her or something." "Okay," she nodded. "Rules. Rules are...hopefully she's not like you and actually follows rules." "I am quite certain me not following the rules was the best idea ever." "Well, maybe," she smiled coyly. "Still...annoying." "You loved it," he smiled. "And she'll follow the rules...or get grounded. It's easy." "Okay," she sighed. "I'll fight with her if I have to, Mer," Derek whispered. "She can't break up with me at a wedding." "You hate fighting with her," Meredith rolled her eyes. "I hate fighting with you too. And she has to learn." "I don't want...I don't want to make her hate me anymore," Meredith whispered, though she couldn't help but feel in the least bit hopeful. "She won't," he murmured, kissing her forehead. "Your daughter is buying the entire store," she giggled, leaning into him. "Yeah, I know," he laughed, letting go of her hand and wrapping his arm around her. "Think Webber will give me a raise?" "For a puppy?" "Yes." "Doubtful," she giggled. "Ruin my fun." "No, ruining your fun will be pointing out that you're about to have a not housetrained puppy sleeping in your bed tonight," Meredith laughed as she moved out of his grasp and towards Hannah. "I hate you," he frowned after her. "You love me," she called over her shoulder as she helped Hannah pull a bag of dog food off the shelf. Derek smiled to himself as he watched them talk to each other, Hannah's eyes bright as she held her dog in her arms and a soft smile across Meredith's face. He was trying. He was really trying and maybe he hadn't noticed it before but now he noticed the difference. Because this felt good. Having Meredith there by his side, entirely with him on this, felt pretty amazing. But touching your hand is making me understand That love is in everything Disclaimer: Grey's is literally about to be on. Like...really really soon. And we're feeling zen...well zen with a nervous edge. Which means we can't think of a disclaimer but we don't own the show. "Wake up, Mer," Derek murmured running his fingrs throough her soft waves. He loved waking up like this, her curled up around him, her hand resting on his chest. It was definitely his favourite way to wake up. Even if she snored ever so slightly and moved around a lot in her sleep, it was pretty perfect. She had been here almost every night and he was loving it. "Hmmm," she groaned, cuddling closer into his chest, her legs wrapping themselves around his. "Wake up," he repeated, kissing her forehead. "Sleeping," she sighed, shifting slightly so she blindingly found his hand. "Sleeping people don't talk," he pointed out. "Sometimes they do," she mumbled. "You don't," he argued. "It's a new development." "Or is it?" "It definitely is," she groaned, rolling on top of him and resting her cheek against his t-shirt. "Poor thing," he laughed softly, winding his hand through her hair. "Good morning." "Morning," she whispered. "Sleep well?" "Amazing," she breathed. "You?" "Amazing," he echoed. "You know what else is amazing?" "What?" "Sleeping in." "I know," he breathed. "Perfect." "Okay...you might have slept in. But I meant letting me sleep in. Longer." "But we're up now," he laughed softly. "Because of you." "Because right now at this moment we have completely quiet privacy." "We do," she nodded. "We should enjoy it." "Oh really?" she murmured, looking up to kiss him deeply. "Really," he breathed against her lips, running his hand up and down her back. "And how do you suggest we enjoy it?" she asked, biting down on his lower lip gently, allowing her hands to move up his sides and then move down under him, squeezing his ass. "Pretty much like this," he laughed breathlessly, moving his hand under her shirt to rub along her stomach. "I like this," she giggled, quieting him with a deep kiss as he turned over, pinning her underneath him. His hands moved further underneath her shirt, gently massaging her breasts. "Me too," he whispered, pulling his mouth away from hers, gently pressing his lips to her neck. "Hmmm," she sighed lazily as her fingers played in his curls. "I love you," he murmured, before kissing her again, letting his lips play against hers sofly. "I love you too," she breathed against his lips, her tongue gently thrusting into his mouth. He moved his other hand up her top, cupping both her breasts in his hands as he deepened the kiss further, pressing his lips hard into hers. "Mer..." "Morning, Daddy!" Hannah threw the door open, Eskimo following closely behind her as she ran towards the bed. "Ha...Hannah," Derek groaned, quickly slipping his hands quickly out of Meredith's shirt and rolling off of her. "Morning, Mereith," Hannah nodded, lifting Eskimo out on the bed as Meredith rolled closer to Derek, burying her face in his chest. "Hannah....you..." Derek sighed. "The door was closed." "I know, but me and Eskimo wanna say good morning," Hannah grinned, clambering onto the bed. "That's great, Han," Derek sighed, hugging Meredith tightly. "But...the door was closed." "I know," Hannah nodded and then frowned. "Mereith, you're in my spot again." "Hannah, you have to share your spot." "But it's my spot." "It is," Derek nodded. "And it's Meredith's spot too." "No, it's my spot," Hannah said firmly. "I was here first." "You were," Derek smiled. "But sometimes someone else comes along and you have to share." "But it's my spot," Hannah pouted. "It's my spot." "Yes, Hannah, it is. But right now it's Meredith's spot because she needs a spot too. But I have a whole other side that can be all yours." "But I'll fall off," Hannah pointed out. "Mer and I will move over," Derek offered. "And I'll hold you really tight." "How come Mereith won't take the other side?" Hannah crossed her arms. "Me and Eskimo want my side." "She's already on this side." "But I was there first." "Not today you weren't." "But Daddy..." "No but daddy..." Derek shook his head. "If you want to share the bed you can sleep on this side. And tomorrow you two can switch sides if that helps." "Fine," Hannah said angrily, crawling over Derek. "Move, Daddy." "You know what, Han? I think we need to talk." "Why?" Hannah frowned, pulling Eskimo close to her, pushing slightly at Derek. "Because things are changing around here and they will change more." "I don't like changing." "I know you don't but this is all good changes." "Move, Daddy, me and Eskimo are falling." "Actually...I think I'm going to sit up," Derek sighed. "Or maybe we could go downstairs and make pancakes while we talk." "But we always cuddle," Hannah frowned. "We do," he nodded. "But we could always cuddle after we talk." "I don't wanna talk. I wanna cuddle." "That's fine but we need to talk." "Fine." "Good. So here or making pancakes." "Here," Hannah sighed, turning and burying her head underneath the pillow, Eskimo licking her arm. "Hannah, I need you to look at me," Derek sighed. She shifted a little and then lifted the edge of the pillow only slightly to reveal one of her blue eyes. "I'm looking." "Hannah Rose Shepherd...unless you want to spend your day in your room you'll get your head out from under that pillow right now." "You're mean now," Hannah whimpered, throwing the pillow to the floor. "Han, I don't want to be mean," Derek sighed, wrapping an arm around his daughter and kissing her head gently. "We need to talk and I need your attention, that's all." "I'm paying 'ttention." "Good," Derek nodded. "Meredith has been around a lot, hasn't she?" "Yeah," Hannah nodded, pulling Eskimo close to her. "She doesn't stay at her house anymore." "No she doesn't. She likes being around us a lot." "She likes being round you the mostest." "Maybe, but she likes being around you lots and lots. She loves you, you know that." "You're my bestest friend, remember, Han?" Meredith said softly. "She loves both of us," Derek murmured. "Lots." "Okay," Hannah sighed, giggling slightly as Eskimo licked her face. "So she's around a lot now," Derek smiled. "And that's not going to change. If anything she's going to be around a lot more." "And she's gonna steal my spot." "No she isn't," Derek shook his head. "She can't steal your spot." "She did today," Hannah pointed out. "She said she wouldn't but she did. She lied." "She didn't steal anything, Han. She slept with me last night and that's how she slept. And she's not going to move just because you came in when I have another side. You have to share, Hannah." "But it's my spot." "But you get a new spot, isn't that exciting?" "No." "Hannah, Meredith is part of my life now. You have to accept that." "I am but it's my side. It was my side first." "But you can share sides. Sometimes it can be your side and sometimes Meredith's." "Okay," Hannah sighed dramatically. "Thank you, Hannah," Derek smiled. "It means a lot to both of." "Done talking now?" Hannah asked. "No, we're not," he shook his head. "When things change new rules are needed." "Rules?" "Yep, rules, just tiny ones." "Rules are stupid." "No they aren't," Derek shook his head. "And really...it's just one." "One rule?" "Yep. You saw that the door was closed today, right?" "Yeah," Hannah sighed. "If the door is closed you're not allowed to just walk in. You have to knock and ask if you can come in." "How come?" "Because if Mer and I have the door closed we want some privacy." "But what if I'm sick?" "Than you don't have to knock, just yell for me really loudly." "What if I have a real bad dream?" "Same thing. Just yell and I will come running." "What if Eskimo has to go potty?" "You can knock on the door and tell us." "What if aliens are here?" "If aliens are here you can yell my name really really loudly. And yell aliens too so I know to bring something to save you." "What if it's monsters and aliens?" "Same thing." "What if I'm thirsty?" "That's a knock and ask situation." "What if you say no?" "I won't." "What if you do?" "I won't." "What if Mereith says no?" "Meredith won't say no either." "But what if..." "No what ifs. If the door is closed you knock or yell if it's really bad and we will always come to help you. Promise. Pinky swear." "Okay," Hannah nodded slowly. "But it will be open a lot so don't worry too much." "You sure?" "Definitely sure." "So no more cuddling?" she whimpered, pulling Eskimo closer to her. "Hannah, there is always room for cuddling," Derek smiled. "Just no more walking in on us unannounced but definitely cuddling." "But what if the door's closed and me and Eskimo wanna cuddle?" "Than you knock and it might take a few minutes but we'll let you in so we can all cuddle." "All of us?" "Me, Meredith, you and Eskimo." "That's a lot," Hannah giggled. "It is," Derek laughed. "Makes it that much more cuddly." "I guess," Hannah sighed. "Sometimes...I'll...it can be just you guys sometimes," Meredith offered. "And maybe...Han, if you want...just us, without Daddy." "Really?" Hannah looked up from where her face was buried in Eskimo's fur. "Really," Meredith nodded. "Okay," Hannah nodded. "So we're good, Hannah Banana?" Derek asked quietly. "I think so," Hannah nodded. "Good," Derek smiled. "And really...the door will be open lots and lots." "It will," Meredith nodded. "Just not all the time." "Definitely not all the time," Derek smiled at her. "Okay," Hannah sighed. "Cuddling time?" "Cuddling time," Derek grinned, laying back down on the bed. "You gotta move, please," Hannah said. "Or me and Eskimo will fall." "Moving," Derek sighed, scooching closer to Meredih. Hannah grabbed Eskimo and fell onto the bed, cuddling up on the other side of Derek as Meredith rested her head back on Derek's chest. "Gotta stay still, Eskimo," Hannah whispered. "It's cuddling time." I wanna lay like this forever, until the sky falls down on me |

Disclaimer: Alicia and Katie's theory, although still brilliant, was wrong. I think that should be enough proof that we don't own the show. Of course we have theories for the next episodes...good theories and actually more than one theory...but even if they're right...we still don't own the show. He was whistling. Actually and completely whistling. In his car. To pick up his six year old daughter. Their puppy was sleeping in his cage in the backseat, where Hannah's over night bag sat, packed for a night away from home. Which was why he was whistling. Tonight, he was going to have sex with his girlfriend, in his house, in his bed. And he couldn't stop whistling. He hadn't been sure about this. He had been damn terrified about this idea but he wanted Meredith. He slept in bed with her night after night entirely clothed. She wasn't complaining. Actually since their fight she had seemed pretty damn happy with everything but he wanted to complain. He wanted to have sex in his bed with his girlfriend. He didn't want to wait till Hannah outgrew the coming in stage. So he had taken matters into his hands. And his girlfriend had no idea. His girlfriend had left the house that morning after cuddle time with Hannah and Eskimo and him to hang out with her friends for the day. She was going to be a resident in four days, and her friends were all entirely terrified. Well, he wasn't sure Yang was, but Meredith was, and she had decided to spend the day with them. But that was fine. He had spent his day making plans, calling his mom to see if she wanted Hannah for the night, planning out the perfect entirely adult meal for him and Meredith and buzzing with anticipation. Not that he didn't adore tucking his daughter into bed, or the morning family cuddles as he liked to think of them. But the idea of morning sex seemed much more appealing right now. And now he was driving to pick up his daughter from ballet camp. He wasn't actually excited about this part, and he had actually fought with himself more than once over the issue. He was dropping his daughter off at her grandma's for the night so he could have sex with his girlfriend. That probably didn't win him the best father of the year award, but he had to do this. He really had to do this. He pulled up the school still whistling. It's not like this would have to be the situation forever. Eventually she would grow out of the running into his room stage. And she was good with the door rule, a lot better than he had expected. Eventually he wouldn't have to pawn his daughter off so he could have Meredith to himself. But he had to tonight. He had to do it for Meredith and him. He walked into the school to find Hannah already out and getting a drink from the water fountain, her hair pulled back into the bun that somehow Meredith had managed to figure out that morning. He wasn't sure how she had figured out, but she had and that left him with a huge grin on his face as he watched his daughter. "Daddy!" "Hey Hannah Banana!" he grinned. "Where's Mereith?" she asked as she squeezed him tightly, planting a quick kiss on his cheek. "She's hanging out with some of her friends today," Derek smiled at the question. "Oh," she nodded. "So it's just me and you?" "Actually...let's go to the car and I'll fill you in." "Is there a saprise?" Hannah grinned excitedly, holding onto his hand. "There is," he nodded slowly, grabbing her hand to lead her to the parking lot. "What kind?" she asked. "Well...you know how Meredith always sleeps over at our house?" "Yep." "You never get to sleep over at anyone's house. So... I was thinking you could have a sleepover with Grandma tonight." "Really?" Hannah grinned. "Really," Derek nodded slowly. "Just you and Grandma...and Eskimo of course." "Eskimo's coming too?" "I didn't think you two would like a night away from each other." "He'd miss me lots," Hannah nodded. "He would," Derek smiled. "So...this is a good surprise?" "Yep!" Hannah giggled as Derek helped her into the car. "Eskimo, we're gonna go to Nana's and she's gonna give us cookies and milk and let us watch movies and read us bedtime stories and we're gonna sleep in Daddy's old room or maybe Uncle Monkey's and then in the morning we're gonna go for a walk and Nana's gonna make the bestest pancakes, ever!" Derek bit back his sigh of relief with a laugh. "You do know Eskimo can't eat cookie or pancakes." "I know," Hannah laughed, reaching through the cage to let Eskimo lick her fingers. "Good," Derek nodded as he buckled her in and went to jump into his own seat. "Why am I sleeping at Nana's, Daddy?" Hannah asked from the backseat. "I just thought it would be a nice special treat," Derek shrugged, hoping she'd accept the answer. "With Meredith being off work and able to babysit you haven't seen much of Grandma." "Does she miss me lots?" "She does," Derek nodded. "Do you gotta work, Daddy?" "Nope," Derek shook his head. "Mer and I are just staying home tonight and missing our favourite little girl and dog. Which reminds me...I need you to do me a favour." "A favor?" "Yeah...Grandma doesn't know about Meredith and you can't tell her." "Why not?" "Well...it's a little messy and I'm waiting to tell Grandma about her." "Why's it messy?" "It just is,'' he sighed. "It's hard to explain." "But what if Nana asks?" "She won't," Derek shook his head. "And if you mention Meredith just tell Grandma that I work with her." "So you want me to lie?" "It's not a lie. I work with Meredith." "But Mereith's your girlfriend." "She is but Grandma doesn't need to know that yet." "Okay," Hannah sighed warily. "But if I get in lots of trouble, it's your fault, Daddy." "You won't," Derek shook his head. "I guess," Hannah sighed, turning to talk to Eskimo excitedly about the night they were going to have with Nana. He had already lied to his mom so he didn't see why Hannah couldn't do it. He had told his mom that work had been long and he really needed a night to himself to drink and be an adult that didn't have a child to worry about. She had made some worried sounds and announced that she missed Hannah desperately and had gladly volunteered to take her. She’d have his ass if she found out the truth. It wasn't that he was ashamed of Meredith, that wasn't it at all. He just...he wanted to make sure they were on entirely solid footing before he brought his loud family into their lives. He wanted to make sure Hannah was adapting, he wanted to make sure he and Meredith were entirely happy, and he wanted to make sure that Meredith wasn't still thinking about running for the hills sometimes. Things were going great, amazingly great actually. They were all happy, all three of them were happy but they weren't quite to that point yet. Meeting his mom was a pretty big deal and one he usually left to last minute. And it would come eventually. It would be good. As long as Hannah didn't talk to her about Meredith but he trusted her, he trusted his daughter. He dropped Hannah off with a few hurried words to his mom, who was itching to go off on the usual tangent about weight loss and not enough sleep and if he ever needed help to call her...but he narrowly avoided it. He had plans. He was going to be with Meredith tonight. Entirely alone with his Meredith in his bed. It was going to be a grown up night, and even better, a grown up morning. He headed home quickly. He wasn't actually sure when to expect her home as he wasn't quite sure where she had gone. Yang had come over in the morning, given his home a strange look and dragged his girlfriend away. So she might be back by now. Or later. He wasn't sure. He didn't want to call her cell but he wanted her home. So they could be truly alone for once. He was going to make her a real grown up dinner. A dinner that didn't involve alphabet tator tots or chicken fingers or carrots or cheeseburgers or hotdogs. A real, actual adult dinner. And then he was going to make love to her. He couldn't remember the last time he had really made love to her, but he needed to do it. They were doing better, they were doing great, but she deserved more than just a quickie in his backseat on their land. He wasn't even sure what her favourite food was. He knew she never actually complained about the food he usually fed them and he was actually pretty sure that she loved it in some sick and twisted way but still, he had no idea what to actually make her. Not that it mattered. The meal was a very tiny part of the evening he had planned for them. It was the other stuff that mattered. He pulled into his driveway, smiling when he saw her waiting for him on the front step, her coat wrapped around her. "Hey," she smiled at him. "Hey," he grinned. "You're home." "I'm home," she nodded, standing up. "I'm home and I've been sitting out here for thirty minutes...I'm thinking...unless...well, no. Never mind." "What are you thinking?" "Well, I just...I mean, I practically live here and I come home and I don't have...and you weren't here so I was just...key." "Oh," he nodded. "Probably a good idea. I have an extra one in my office, it's all yours." "Really?" "Yeah. I keep meaning to give it to you." "Oh," she shrugged slightly, a small smile playing on her lips as he unlocked the door. "Okay.' "Have a good day?" he asked as she followed him in. "Not bad," Meredith shrugged. "It was...Cristina bragging about how great she's going to be, George freaking out, Alex being Alex and Izzie...Izzie being...Izzie." "Sounds fun," he smirked. "What were you doing?" "Nothing really," she sighed, turning to kiss him quickly. "Hmm..." he smiled. "What do you want for supper?" "I don't know," she shrugged. "I thought tonight was cheeseburgers. Or maybe chicken strips." "Yes," he nodded, trying not to smile too widely. "But I was thinking maybe something a little more adult." "Why?" she frowned and then looked around. "Der...where's Han?" "Ah...she finally notices," he laughed. "Your daughter is missing. And Eskimo." "My daughter says goodnight, she loves you and she'll miss you very much. Eskimo barked which I take to mean the same thing." "Goodnight? She'll miss me?" "Yep," he grinned widely. "Der..." "She's at Grandma's for a sleepover." "She's...why?" "Because she loves her grandma very much," Derek shrugged and then smirked. "And because I like getting you naked and licking every inch of your body." "You...what...Der," she breathed. "We have a house and a bed to ourselves." "Are you...like...all to ourselves? All night?" "All to ourselves, all night." "So we can...have sex and be naked and..." "And anything else you want to do. Anywhere." "And you're asking me what I want for dinner?" she raised an eyebrow. "Yeah," he shrugged. "I thought a grown up meal for once would be nice." "And not grown up sex?" "Yes, that too." "I like grown up sex. Or sex period. Lots of sex. We've never...except one time on your couch. Which was fast but...great. It was great. Really great." "I'm guessing you're not actually hungry for food right now." "No, not really," she shook her head, leaning forward and kissing him deeply. "Hmmm..." he groaned softly. "Bedroom. We're doing this in the bedroom." "Bedroom?" she breathed as she slipped his sweater off, her hands going down to undo the buttons on his shirt. "Bedroom..." he nodded. "You...bed...we've never..." "We haven't," she agreed, her shaking hands struggling with the buttons. "We should," he murmured. "Definitely," she breathed, finally pushing the shirt off his shoulders and starting towards the stairs, still kissing him. "Hmm..." he groaned, his hands travelling to her ass as he picked her up. "Derek!" she giggled as he started up the stairs, their lips still crashing against each other's. "Doing the romantic thing," he laughed breathlessly as he took the steps slowly. "You're going to drop me," she laughed, trailing kisses down his jawline. "No I won't," he groaned, tilting his head back to give her better access. "You could," she murmured, her breath sending shivers up and down his spine as she nipped slightly at his neck, her hands moving down to squeeze his ass. "Too many damn stairs." "Stairs are evil," she giggled, moving her hips ever so slightly against his erection, causing him to stumble slightly. "Mer...that's playing dirty," he groaned. "It's dirty grown up sex," she whispered in his ear before taking his earlobe between her teeth. "Fuck," he gasped, pausing for a second. "Are you okay?" she breathed, moving to place small nibbles down his neck and shoulder, still moving gently against his erection. "Great, Mer," he rolled his eyes as he sucked in a breath. "Really?" she murmured, her teeth moving to nip the skin at his collar bone. "You sound...breathless." "I hate you," he murmured. "You love me." "Sadly," he groaned, restarting his path up the stairs. "Sadly?" she breathed, sucking at the hollow of his throat. "Yeah..." he moaned, finally reaching the top of the stairs. "If you'd rather not love me," she whispered in between the small bites and sucks at his neck. "Oh I'm good loving you," he murmured, heading toward his room. "You're just...evil." "No," she breathed, "evil involves torture. I'm pretty sure I'd be evil if I, well..." She trailed off as he set her back on the bed and she pulled him down, flipping over to straddle him and work her hips slowly over his own, the friction causing him to moan in frustration. "This...torture," he groaned, his hips starting to rock up to meet hers. "Maybe," she giggled breathlessly, holding his hips steady as she started to trail small kisses and bites down his chest and abdomen, one of her hands moving off his hip bones to undo his pants quickly, struggling to pull them down. "What...this is...." he gasped for breath as she got the pants over his hips and started to move her mouth lower, covering his hip bones with soft light kisses. "Dirty grown up sex," she smirked, her breath tickling him slightly as she pulled his boxers down, trailing her tongue over the creases in between his hips, nibbling only slightly at the sensitive skin as she got closer to his throbbing erection. His head was already spinning and he struggled to catch his breath as she moved her lips from his hips to his thighs, her fingernails trailing ever so lightly over his length. "Mer...please...." he groaned, his hips jerking against his will as he struggled to get closer to her light touch. "Please what?" she laughed, taking her hand away as she looked up at him, kissing him deeply. "I...I need you," he responded in a shaky voice. "Hmmm," she breathed, moving her head back down, pressing urgent kisses to his chest before lightly trailing her tongue over the head of his penis, her fingernails now trailing torturously over the inside of his thighs. "Mer...fuck...I..." he groaned loudly, throwing his head back against the pillow and grasping at the sheets. "Shhh," she purred against him as her tongue worked further up the shaft, lightly swirling and licking, her hands moving to hold his hips down. "Shhh..." he echoed. "I....you....god." She smiled coyly up at him, taking in his darkened eyes and flushed complexion and then took him into her mouth, slowly moving her lips over him, her teeth making the slightest of contact with the tender skin. He gasped loudly, his hips pushing further into her, his hands making their way from the sheets to her hair, pushing and pulling at the same time as she began to suck at him. "Mer...oh..." he breathed as he felt her tongue smooth over the underside of his penis, her teeth scrape gently along the top as she moved her mouth up and down him slowly, her fingers lightly teasing his balls. His hips rocked against her lips, pushing himself deeper into her throat, his head spinning as he struggled to breathe. And then suddenly she was pulling back, her tongue replacing her warm mouth. "Fuck," he gasped, his hands tangling deeper into her hair. "Mer...Mer..." he groaned as she licked at him and pressed kisses along his length before trailing her tongue along. And then suddenly she was gone again, leaning back to quickly undo the button of her jeans, pulling them over her hips, her panties quickly following. She centered herself over him and rubbed her wet folds along his erection. "God, Derek," she breathed in his ear, sucking at his earlobe hungrily. "I need....I need...please Mer," he gasped, his hips rocking hard against hers. She continued moving against him as her hands moved around to his ass, pushing his rocking hips against her, allowing him to finally enter her, both of them gasping at the sensation. "Derek...fuck," she moaned. "Mer...god..." he groaned, grabbing for her head and pulling her into a searing kiss as he started to rock into her. They moved slowly, lazily against each other as their tongues dueled, their chests heaving as he expertly flipped her onto her back, still thrusting into her. He braced himself on the bed, his arms on either side of her as he pulled back and looked into her eyes, kissing her again as he picked up the pace. "Derek," she murmured, her head already starting to thrash on the pillows. "Oh Mer..." he murmured, pressing light kisses along her throat as she trembled underneath him, causing his own body to tighten further. "God, Derek...oh..." she breathed, her head falling back to allow him easier access to her neck as her hips moved harder against him. "Der..." "Mer...oh god...you're...." he gasped, his mouth leaving her throat to kiss her again, harder as his movements picked up pace. "Fuck...Der!" she screamed, her legs moving to wrap around him, pushing him further and harder into her, her fingernails moving to scrape at his back as she trembled hard. "Oh hell...." he groaned, his hands finding her ass to squeeze it tightly as he drove into her again and again. "Derek...I'm...oh god!" she gasped, her body going taut as an orgasm washed over her. "Fuck," he shouted as his own body tightened and he released into her. "Oh god, oh god, oh...Derek," she breathed, her eyes squeezing shut as she panted for breath, still holding him inside her as he collapsed on top of her. "Wow...wow...wow," he gasped. "That was...Derek, you...that was..." "Wow." "I...oh...I..." "You're amazing." "So...you...god," she breathed, kissing him. "You...you okay?" he asked, as he finally rolled off of her, gathering her in his arms again. "I...yeah," she nodded quickly. "Yeah. Just...wow." "You're....kind of evil." "I'm the one...stroke...seizure...bad things," she giggled, tangling her legs in his. "But the...oh..." he breathed, hugging her tightly. "Hmmm?" she murmured. "Just evil," he whispered. "Dirty grown up sex," she giggled breathlessly. "Very," he laughed. "Thank you," she murmured, kissing him. "For?" "This...for...dirty grown up sex." "Nothing to thank me for," he shrugged. "This wasn't just for you." "So it was purely for selfish reasons?" she asked. "Basically. Although you came into the equation." "Awww, well, thanks," she laughed, rolling over on top of him. "I needed you alone for once," he whispered. "I needed to be able to have you the way I wanted you." "Naked?" she murmured, pressing a soft kiss to his shoulder before resting her head on it. "Definitely naked." "You're going to have hickeys," she giggled, trailing her fingertips over the already red welts on his neck. "Those should be fun to explain to my mother and daughter tomorrow." "A collared shirt and a sweater should cover them okay." "Good idea," he murmured as his stomach growled. "Hungry?" she giggled, kissing him. "You did make me skip the supper portion of the evening," he laughed. "Sorry," Meredith whispered, rolling off of him and reaching for her panties. "Don't be...that was entirely worth it." "It was," she sighed and then looked down at the underwear in her hands. "Can we be dirty grown up naked?" "I think we can be," he smirked. "Good," she breathed, leaning back over the bed to kiss him. "I love you, Mer," he murmured. "I love you too," she breathed. "Come on...let's go grown up eat." Baby I'm so into you Every whisper from your soul to my heart Baby I know its true Disclaimer: Alicia and Katie aren't exactly thrilled about Derek going on a date, we're not. Wine shall be our friend. Of course we fully believe this is going somewhere really good in the long run...well hopefully shortish run. But yes...if we did own the show...this wouldn't actually be happening. If Derek Shepherd could make a list of place he didn't want to be he assumed this would be on the top of the list. Somewhere below telling his mom about his girlfreind, possibly above taking Hannah to the dentist. He'd rather be at home with said girlfriend curled up together somewhere, doing nothing. Or at home with Hannah learning how to do more ballet as she was determined to teach him. He hadn't been expecting this. For some reason, he hadn't actually realized he'd have to be here again this year. He had been coming almost every year for since his intern year, but for some reason, this had entirely escaped him until the Chief had casually reminded him yesterday during sugery. And now here he was, at the intern mixer, trying to make small talk. He hated small talk. He hated doing the mingling thing. He was good at it, he was probably great at it. He would smile and put on the charm and he'd have people eating out of his hand. It bored him to tears though. And he wasn't even comfortable. He wanted to be wearing a tshirt and jeans or pyjama pants or something. Definitely not the outfit he was stuck in. He was supposed to be strong, authoritative, charming. And the suit he was currently in probably did that. But it wasn't what he wanted. He wanted to be at home with his girlfriend and his daughter in pjs, watching movies and eating Hannah's chocolate chip cookies. But instead, here he was, nursing a beer, and struggling to keep up with the intern currently stammering their way through one of his journal articles. He glanced around the room looking for some kind of escape strategy. When Hannah was a bit older he fully planned on teaching her to call during these things with some kind of crisis at home that he had to go take care of. But for now he was basically stuck. Of course the cute blonde talking to some other intern was stuck to so that made his night slightly more enjoyable. He had dragged her here tonight. She wasn't required to be here, but he had dragged her here and now she was stuck. She held a glass of red wine close as she nodded at whatever the intern was saying, looking entirely bored as she quickly looked around the room, her eyes stopping on him. He sent a quick smile her way, and she smiled back, her eyes roving up and down his body. He definitely didn't want to be here. An on call room would be fun. He was kind of getting tired of always having to take her to on call rooms but tonight it would probably feel like an adventure. It wasn't his fault she had chosen to wear that dress that made him consider a hundred more delicious places he could be. The intern he was talking to was still rambling and he wondered if he had even noticed his waning attention. She watched him carefully, taking a slow sip of wine and he couldn't help but want to lick the tiniest of droplets of wine off her lips. Which probably wasn't at all the thing to be thinking when the newest batch of interns were all watching him eagerly, whispering excitedly. Being a genius had its price and he couldn't help but grin at the thought that Meredith would roll her eyes at that. The intern stammered something about having to go talk to someone or something and Derek shook his hand and was finally left alone to watch Meredith in quiet. He should probably go and rescue her. She was starting to look like she needed it and it was the boyfriend-y thing to do. Of course it was kind of fun to watch her get all flustered and overwhelmed. Bringing her had definitely been a good idea. She'd probably be pissy at him later. She'd probably pout and tell him she hated him. And then they would close his bedroom door and have the quietest sex imaginable. Because his daughter was finally really getting the closed door rule. And he was finally understanding that getting Meredith naked for twenty minutes was better than sleeping with her entirely clothed. And he really needed to stop thinking about her naked. He walked slowly toward her, knowing full well he shouldn't be. Taking to her was probably a bad idea. Because he'd start talking to her and officially forget to care about anyone else in the room. And he was currently a head of neurosurgery doing his job quite well, schmoozing and shaking hand. But Meredith would definitely put an end to that. She'd turn him into the desperate boyfriend he was. He moved closer to her, deftly wrapping his hand around her waist and leaning in, taking a deep breath. "What are you doing?" she breathed as the stammering intern walked away from her. "Cheering myself up," he murmured. "Cheering yourself up?" she asked, taking a sip of wine. "I hate this thing," he frowned, pressing a light kiss on her cheek. "Me too," she sighed. "But you basically just announced to all of my interns that I'm sleeping with the head of neurosurgery." "They had to find out eventually," he shrugged. "And you're not sleeping with me...well you are." "Yes, I definitely slept with you last night," she giggled. "Not saying you didn't," he laughed. "But now they all know." "Are you ashamed of me?" "No," she shook her head, turning in his arms. "But...I'm a resident. Dating an attending. Doesn't look good." "Hmm..." he nodded. "They were going to find out anyway, might as well be tonight." "They're staring at us," she murmured. "They've been staring at me all night," he sighed. "And I wanted to talk to my girlfriend, I could care less what they think." "You're lucky I'm even here," she rolled her eyes. "And for the record, I hate you." "I figured I was going to hear that tonight." "This was torture last year. And now...I really hate you." "You get sex after it this year," he pointed out. "I would have gotten sex if you had just gone and then come home," she pointed out. "I hate you." "So hurtful," he shook his head. "Of course," she tipped her head back to look up at him, "it's probably good I came." "Is it?" "Yes. Since you apparently like to pick up interns at the mixers." "Once, I did it once. And it was love at first sight, you can not blame me." "It was not love at first sight," she rolled her eyes. "Fine, it was lust at first sight." "Thank you," she giggled. "But that is definitely not happening again." "Are you sure?" she cocked her head to the side, towards a group of interns. "Because those interns totally want you." "Didn't even notice." "Better not," she giggled, kissing him. "Can we leave yet?" "I don't think so," he groaned. "What about now?" she laughed, doing her best Hannah impression. "You need to spend less time with ou...my six year old," he laughed. "But I love Hannah," she mock pouted, kissing him quickly. "I know," he rolled his eyes. "You know what's really weird?" she sighed, leaning into him. "What?" "I'm not the only Dr. Grey now." "That is a little wierd," he laughed, looking over at where Lexie was standing with some other interns, looking miserable and maybe just a little terrified. "I should go rescue her, right? I mean, that's the good big sister thing to do?" "Probably a good idea," Derek nodded. "You should go rescue her," Meredith giggled. "All the interns would think she was so cool." "Or we could just both go of over there." "Fine," Meredith sighed, grabbing his hand and dragging him over to the group of interns, who suddenly went very quiet. "Hey, Lexie." "Meredith, Derek," Lexie smiled brightly. "Der--Derek?" one of the interns murmured. "But he's...she just called Dr. Shepherd Derek." "It is my name," Derek shrugged. "And...I've known Lexie for a while. This is Dr. Meredith Grey...my girlfriend and Lexie's sister." "His...his girlfriend?" another intern gasped. "He knows Lexie? She...lucky..." "Yes, very lucky," Lexie rolled her eyes. "So lucky," Meredith laughed, squeezing Derek's hand. "Who's watching Hannah tonight?" Lexie asked. "Derek's mom," Meredith replied. "Okay," Lexie nodded. "Tell her I say hi when you get home, it's been a while since I saw her." "You should stop by this weekend," Derek grinned. "If you're up to it, of course." "I'll probably be exhausted but I'll see what I can do.' "Good," Meredith grinned. "Hannah and Eskimo will be very excited to see you." "Eskimo is excited to see anyone," Lexie giggled. "That's true," Meredith giggled. "But we think we're getting him close to house trained." "We've actually thought that since we basically got him so we're probably not," Derek laughed. "Um, Dr. Shepherd," an intern stepped forward, "sorry to interrupt. But uh...Walt Dean, Columbia...I read your article on working to find new non-invasive techniques to treat cancer and I was just wondering...um...I mean, it was brilliant. But I was wondering if maybe that could make surgery obsolete." "Oh," Derek frowned. "Chances are...yes, eventually...hopefully, all but the most major surgeries will become completely obsolete." "And that is the world's most boring topic," Mark boomed as he came over with Addison. "Christ, these interns are boring this year." "Mark, they can hear you," Addison groaned. "And?" he frowned, looking at all of them. "Well...I'm an intern, Mark," Lexie pointed out, ignoring the other interns mouths falling open. "Yeah, but you're different," Mark grinned, "you're a Grey." "Oh the wonderful Greys," Derek laughed. "Yeah, yeah, Shep, everyone here knows just how much you love the Grey's." "Just the one," Derek smiled. "No offence, Lex." "That's okay, Derek," Lexie laughed. "That would be entirely wrong and kind of disgusting." "It really would be," Derek laughed. "Mark, I see that look on your face," Addison frowned at her boyfriend. "Don't even go there." "Thanks Addie," Meredith rolled her eyes. "I wasn't going anywhere," Mark frowned and then turned to Addison. "Unless you want to go somewhere. You in that dress. We could go somewhere." "Oh god, I have to stop bringing you to public events," Addison groaned. "Don't worry," Mark grinned, "I'll make it up to you. Anytime you want to punish me..." "Mark, shut up," Derek sighed, gesturing with his head toward the wide eyed interns. "Ignore him," Meredith sighed. "Maybe we should...go somewhere else to talk," Lexie frowned slightly. "Probably," Meredith nodded, pulling Derek away from the interns, Lexie following closely behind. "The interns are...wierd," Lexie sighed. "I have to make friends with them or whatever, but god they're wierd." "Why?" Meredith giggled, leaning against Derek's shoulder. "For the last ten minutes those guys have been staring at you two going on and on about how Dr. Derek Shepherd is a genius." "Derek, don't you dare say it," Meredith groaned. "Okay, it's not technically my fault they're right," Derek shrugged. "If they knew you, they'd know you're not really a genius," Meredith rolled her eyes. "But...I am a genius." "Of course you are." "I am" Derek laughed. "I quite remember last year at this thing a cute blonde intern was telling me she couldn't wait to work under me. And she did say under." "I said with." "You said under," he smirked. "I said..." Meredith frowned. "I might have said under but I met with and that's not the point. That was before I knew you." "Because you haven't been happy working under me as of late?" Derek asked. "That...is highly inappropriate, Dr. Shepherd," she blushed. "Of course it is," he laughed softly, kissing her quickly. "You're not a genius," she breathed against his lips. "Yeah, yeah. You're in love with me, you can't say I'm a genius." "Lexie, is Derek a genius?" "Definitely not," Lexie giggled. "Sorry, Derek. Don't hold it against me when I work with you." "He won't," Meredith nodded firmly. "I guess I won't...the boss has spoken," Derek laughed. "Exactly," Meredith giggled. "Frightening woman," Derek breathed, nuzzling her neck gently. "Can we go now?" she murmured. "I think we should," he whispered. "I think so too," she whispered back, her hands moving gently through his curls. "Good," he smiled, staring at her, a smile on his face. "Lexie, definitely stop by sometime this weekend." "Definitely," Meredith nodded. "And then you can bitch about your crappy bosses like I did after my forty-eight hour shift." "Did you bitch about me?" Derek frowned. "Of course I did," she nodded. "You were inappropriate and...yes, I bitched about you." "I guess that changes my plans for the evening. And to think I was going to suggest going home for some adult fun before going to get Hannah." "You wouldn't dare." "You bitched about me, Mer." "You were flirting with me. At work. It was inappropriate and I should have reported you for sexual harrassment." "Well that would have killed all the fun." "You're lucky I just thought you were entirely brainless or something." "And hot, don't forget hot." "Fine, hot and entirely brainless," she rolled her eyes. "That explains why you did such a good job at staying away from me." "I did a good job," she frowned. "Kind of. I did a kind of good job. And then there was...it was your fault. It was completely your fault but I would have done a good job if you had actually left me alone instead of chasing and...my point is, I did a kind of good job." "Oh yes, that's why you're coming home with me tonight. Excellent job." "You are this close to going home by yourself, Derek Michael Shepherd." "You wouldn't dare." "I would." "I'd make it. Maybe I'll stop by Joe's. Keep up tradition." "If tradition involves a one night stand you do know I would kill the guy, right?" "Yes, along with my first kiss." "And any other guy who's touched my girl." "You have serious issues." "You love me." "Sadly." "Yeah, yeah," he rolled his eyes, kissing her quickly. "Chief is distracted," she breathed, leaning into him. "If we escape it will be okay. And if he catches us...we blame it on Han." "This is why I love you," he laughed, hugging her tightly before releasing her. "See you later, Lexie." "Bye, Lexie," Meredith grinned, hugging her sister. "See you tomorrow." "Don't remind me," Lexie sighed. "It will be fine," Meredith nodded as Derek grabbed her hand and started to drag her away. "Bye." "Bye guys!" Lexie called after them. "Someone's impatient," Meredith giggled. "I want to get you alone," he sighed. "And I'm actually leaving the way I want tonight." "I've always wondered," she sighed, chewing on her lip. "Last year...you weren't trying to escape, right? You had...I mean, it was Hannah? Not me or my crazy rambling? Because I definitely always thought it was my rambling and the calling you sir and the...anyway, it was Hannah, right?" "It was definitely Hannah," Derek laughed softly. "Okay," she sighed. "Because I was...and you just kind of left. So I just figured it was...me." "Oh Mer..." Derek sighed. "My mom was watching her and had to get to bed early for something the next day so I promised I'd go home early. I would have stayed here for hours talking to you." "That's nice," she smiled. "I wouldn't have." "Of course not," he rolled his eyes. "I was fully planning on escaping and going to Joe's for many, many shots of tequila." "So you would have just gotten up and left?" "Yes." "That would have just been rude." "Poor Derek," she giggled, squeezing his hand as he led her out of the room. "You would have slept with me that night if I hadn't been your boss." "Very true." "Are you going to sleep with me tonight?" "Even though you're my boss?" "I'll let you be the boss," he smirked. "Dirty, dirty man," she shook her head, leaning into him. "You love being boss." "I do." "So yes, I definitely think you should sleep with me." "I think I might, Dr. Shepherd." "Very good to hear, Dr. Grey." "We escaped," she breathed, turning to kiss him deeply. "We escaped," he echoed against her lips. "What now?" she asked, her fingers curling his hair gently. "Home for sex?" "Definitely," she smiled, grabbing his hand. "We'll get Hannah later," he smiled. "She needs to spend more time with Grandma anyway." "Exactly. Grandma won't be here forever." "That's a terrible thing to say about your mother, Derek." "It's true. I don't want her to die but she's old, Mer." "Express train, Derek." "Express train?" "To hell." "Because my mom's old?" "Because you're even talking about it. And because you're talking about it because you want sex." "Yeah, I'm probably a bad person." "Probably," she giggled as they stepped into the crisp night air. "But really...she benefits from grandma time, right?" "She does." "See...good dad." "Of course you are," Meredith giggled, kissing him. "I can't believe I'm going home with my boss." "Mer...you basically live with your boss," he pointed out. "Okay...trying to keep up with a year ago, here," she rolled her eyes. "I was trying that romantic thing." "Aww, you're so sweet," Derek laughed. "In that case...breathe and stop freaking out." "I'm not freaking out," she breathed, pulling him to the car and kissing him deeply. "You're completely freaking out," he breathed against her lips. "I'm really not," she murmured. "Fine," he smiled. "I have ways of making you stop anyway." "Oh really?" she rasied an eyebrow. "Lots and lots of ways." "That sounds promising." "Oh trust me, it is," he smirked. "Then I think it's definitely time to go home." "Definitely," he nodded, opening the door of the car for her. "Definitely," she nodded, getting into the car and closing the door quickly. Derek went over to the other side and let himself in. "Is it breaking the game if I say I love you?" "Maybe a little," she giggled. "But I love you too." "Good," he smiled as he started the car. "Home time, Mer." "Home," she smiled, squeezing his hand tightly as they drove away from the hospital and the intern mixer. The insanely boring intern mixer she had managed to escape from a year earlier. It was kind of stupid to think it had actually been a year. Because a year suggested a long time. A year suggested big things and things changing and...which things had changed. But it had been a year. And now everything was different. She had expected a change, she had expected a lot but she hadn't expected this at all. She hadn't exptected to be sitting in her boss's car, entirely in love, dating her boss and basically raising his daughter. Everything was different in the most amazing way ever. She was happy. It had been a year of insanity and now she just felt entirely happy. She sneaked a sideways glance at him, at the stupid grin on his face. The incredibly stupid cheesy grin on his face. It was crazy. All of this was crazy. She had no idea how any of it had actually worked out this way. No idea how she had gotten to this point, but she was pretty sure she was entirely good with it. Entirely good with sitting her boss's car, entirely in love, dating her boss, and basically raising his daughter. It was...perfect and crazy. Like an apple on a tree Hiding out behind the leaves I was difficult to reach But you picked me Like a shell upon a beach Just another pretty piece I was difficult to see But you picked me Yeah, you picked me. Authors note: So that’s it for this fic. Yes, I know, it doesn’t actually feel done and there’s a reason for that. It’s not the end of this fic…just the end of this part. To us this fic alone was about Meredith and Derek meeting and falling in love and figuring it out to be a couple. But no it’s happened…now they’re together and happy and on steady footing. So yes, that’s all done. But them…they aren’t done. Hannah isn’t done. Eskimo isn’t done. All of these characters…Mer, Der, Hannah, Mark, Lexie, Addie, Eskimo….a lot more exploring to do. And yes, I know you’re all thinking it so since we have so much GA stress I’ll give you a secret…we are crazy. Yes, this is a trilogy. So look for the trilogy…I Do….it will be started tonight! We really do love you guys. Thanks for all the great support of this fic and we really hope to see you at the next one. There’s tons more fun to come. And thanks for keeping this such a positive place. It means the world to us. Love you and see you at the other fic! |
