When you're little night time is scarey because there are monsters hiding right under the bed. When you get older the monsters are different. Self doubt! Loneliness! Regret! And though you may be older and wiser you still find yourself scared of the dark.

Sleep! It's the easiest thing to do. You just close your eyes. But for so many of us sleep seems out of our grasp. We want it but we don't know how to get it. But once we face our demons, face our fears and turn to each other for help night time isn't so scarey, because we realize we aren't all alone in the dark.

SIDES & SUMMARIES

Lauren - Scene 1

INT. HOSPITAL - TRAUMA ONE – NIGHT

Dr. Harris enters, finds Lauren Hammer and her husband Seth (30's). Laurens’s doubled over but manages to talk through the pain.

Dr. Harris: Mrs. Hammer, what seems to be the problem?

Laren: I have this pain in my stomach and I can’t even keep water down, it all goes right through me. And I’m tired, not like normal tired, like deep bon level tired ---

Seth: Just tell him your theory, Lauren. She has a theory.

Lauren: I’m right here, I can speak.

Seth: She thinks she has stomach cancer because the Internet told her so..... she’s crazy.

Lauren: I’m not crazy! – I’m in pain. HORRIBLE pain. He’s not inside my body. He’s not feeling what I’m feeling.

Seth: I have a theory, too, by the way. Crazy disease. It’s called diarrhea.

Lauren: Seth.

Seth: Fine. Shutting up.

Dr. Harris examines her.

Dr. Harris: Does this hurt?

Lauren: No.

Dr. Harris: It’s not your appendix.

Lauren: That’s good right?

Dr. Harris: Very good.

Off Lauren still in pain.

INT. HOSPITAL - LAUREN’S ROOM – NIGHT
Seth walk in. Dr. Harris is standing by Lauren’s bed.

Dr. Harris: She wants to tell you something.

Lauren looks at him. This is hard.

Lauren: I believe that you believe I’m crazy.

Seth: Lauren

Lauren: And I might be.

Seth looks at her, and it’s kind of heartbreaking .....

Lauren: I read on the Internet that taking large amounts of antibiotics, unnecessary antibiotics, could make you sick. And I thought if I got sick, you’d come home from work earlier, pay more attention to me, take care of me, want to be with me ... Ever since you took this new job, you’ve disappeared. We might as well be living on separate continents. I NEVER SEE YOU. And then I read this article and got the idea ... And I thought maybe it ... The, one I started, I couldn’t stop ... I kept thinking that maybe things would go back to the way they used to be. And you keep telling me that things haven’t changed. I just don’t know how you don’t see it....

Off Seth, taking her in...

Dr. Harris speaks to Lauren and Seth. Lauren looks guilty.

Lauren: So I’ve been on antibiotics.....

Seth: Right. For that staph infection you got last month? On your face? You wouldn’t stop talking about that thing...

Lauren: That was actually a pimple...

Seth: Why did your doctor give you a prescription for a pimple?

Lauren: I actually ordered them online.

Seth: What - -

Lauren: To make myself sick.

Seth: Oh my God!

Lauren: Because you wouldn’t give me the time of day ---

Seth: That is such a load of --

Lauren: Oh, so coming home at 2 AM every night is normal? Not calling to say you’ll miss dinner is considerate?

Seth: No, I think lying to your husband and ingesting pill to give yourself a stomach ache is normal.

Dr. Harris: Well, your blood count now indicates you’ve developed an infection. And it doesn’t seem to be going away on its own.

Lauren: How do I treat it?

Dr. Harris: We don’t know where exactly the infection lies. We’ll need to perform a colonoscopy procedure first to determine the specific course of treatment.

Lauren: Okay.

Dr. Harris: We’ll need to sedate you in order to insert the scope, and you’re going to want someone her with you when you wake up.

Lauren looks at Seth. Beat.

Seth: Admit it.

Lauren: Admit what?

Seth: YOU’RE CRAZY!

Off Lauren, overwhelmed, as Seth leaves the room...

Arthur - Scene 1

INT. HOSPITAL - TRAUMA TWO – NIGHT

Dr. Smith and Dr. Harris are with a now conscious Arthur. Dr. Harris examines his arm. Ivy, looking very worried, sits by her dad’s bedside.

Arthur: I don’t understand what happened?

Dr. Harris: Your daughter found you have a seizure in your bedroom. When you started convulsing, you fell out of your bed, hurting your arm. We’d like to run a CT to test for internal bleeding and head trauma.

Arthur: I had a seizure? But I haven’t had one of those in months?

Dr. Harris: You’ve had them before?

Arthur: It started a couple of years ago, after my wife died. It only happened a few times, but it still scared me enough that I went to a clinic. They never found anything, so the thought it was stress induced — gave me some Dilantin.

Dr. Harris: How’s it been working?

Arthur: (joking) I’m raising a teenager, so ... stress comes with the job. But, I haven’t had any more seizures.

Dr. Harris: And you took your Dilantin tonight?

Arthur: I guess I must have forgotten.

Arthur takes his daughter’s hand.

Arthur: Honey, I’m so sorry. You must have been so scared.

Ivy: I’m okay. I’m fine. I’m just worried about you.

INT. HOSPITAL - ARTHUR’S ROOM– NIGHT

Dr. Smith and Dr. Harris give Arthur his test results. Ivy sits in chair by his bedside.

Dr. Smith: The EEG revealed that you’re suffering from a condition call frontal lobe epilepsy. The good news is we can fix it.

Arthur: That’s a relief.

Dr. Smith: (showing the EGG) By resecting this small area of your brain, we can make sure you never have another incident like the one you had tonight.

Arthur: Is this frontal lobe thing going to get worse?

Dr. Smith: If untreated –

Arthur: I’ll just keep taking my meds. I have a kid, I don’t want anyone cutting into my brain....

Dr. Smith: Mr. Soltanoff, these episodes —

Arthur: I forgot my Dilantin tonight, I just won’t forget –

Ivy: You didn’t forget.

All the eyes in the room turn to Ivy who speaks with the full exhaustion of her night, her life in her voice, everything she’s been keeping in finally comes out.

Ivy: You took it when I was brushing my teeth like you always do, and then you put me to bed like you always do, and then I woke up to the sound of you falling out of your bed, convulsing on the floor....

Arthur: Ivy —

Ivy: I must have fallen asleep tonight. I try to stay awake because I’m scared you’re going to start seizing and hurt yourself ... like tonight ... I must have fallen asleep...

Arthur: Honey, why didn’t you tell me?

Ivy: You said these episodes were caused by stress and I’m your stress, you have to take care of me by yourself and ... you do such a good job all day, I thought the least I could do was take care of you at night.

Dr. Smith bends down, coming face to face with Ivy.

Dr. Smith: But we’re saying it’s the epilepsy. Not the stress. The epilepsy. You understand what I’m telling you?

Ivy: This wasn’t my fault.

And Ivy cries and cries. Tears of relief down her face.

Ivy - Scene 1

INT. HOSPITAL - ARTHUR’S ROOM– NIGHT

Dr. Smith finds Ivy sitting on a chair next to her dad’s bed, watching TV with the blank stare of someone who is truly exhausted but can’t sleep.

Dr. Smith: Your dad around? I need to run a couple of tests.

Ivy: He still hasn’t come back from getting X-Rays.

Dr. Smith: I’ll come back.

Dr. Smith starts to leave.

Ivy: How did my dad’s head scan turn out?

Dr. Smith: The Neurosurgeon will com down and explain it to you .... You know you can snag the other bed. Middle of the night, I don’t think you dad will get a roommate.

Ivy: It’s okay. I’m not tired.

She holds the remote to change the channel. Dr. Smith notices her hand is shaking. She looks exhausted, deeply, exhausted.

Dr. Smith: Residents who work 100 hours a week look more well rested than you. When’s the last time you slept?

She looks at him, with a haunted look —

Dr. Smith: Seriously, kid, you should get some rest.

But she goes back to the TV with a yawn and a blank stare ....

Meanwhile, the November 20 episode also sees Meredith, Cristina and Bailey coming to Lexie and Sadie's rescue when a routine surgery goes horribly wrong. SONG TITLE REFERENCE & LYRICS ~ EPISODE PLAYLIST

Song Title

Title for 5.09: "In The Midnight Hour"

View Casting sides at SPOILER TV

Could only find one song with this title, covered by many people but originally done by Wilson Pickett.

Lyrics:

I'm gonna wait 'til the midnight hour
That's when my love comes tumbling down
I'm gonna wait 'til the midnight hour
When there's no one else around
I'm gonna take you girl and hold you
Do all things I told you
In the midnight hour
Yes I am, whoa, yes I am

I’m gonna wait 'til the stars come out
See them twinkle in your eyes
I'm gonna wait 'til the midnight hour
That's when my love begins to shine
You're the only girl I know
Really love you so
In the midnight hour

I'm gonna wait 'til the midnight hour
That's when my love comes tumbling down
I'm gonna wait 'til the midnight hour
That's when my love begins to shine
Just you and I, oh baby, just you and I

OK, liking this one... maybe it takes this long for Derek to finally get the roommates out of the house?? :P :P

EP RECAP

11/20/2008 - "In The Midnight Hour"
Season 5, Episode 509
Sadie, who's staying with Meredith, asks her, "What do you think of your sister, Lexie, as my new BFF?" "I don't see that," cautions Meredith. "She was raised right, with parents and rules, and smiley-face posters on her wall."

Sadie joins the interns, who've just given Cristina's "Number Two" intern an epidural. "I'm impressed. Deth was so wrong about you," she tells Lexie, adding, "She thinks your a priss."

Stung by the criticism, Lexie suggests that they take out the sedated intern's appendix. Sadie says they can "be in and out of an O.R. before anyone notices." The intern objects to being operated on, so Sadie volunteers.

Izzie tells herself she's only imagining Denny, but to prove he's real, he makes love to her. Meredith overhears the noisy lovemaking and assumes Izzie is with Alex, until she sees Alex in the hall. Alex offers to join Izzie, but she says she's feeling sick and is going back to bed.

A patient knocks Callie to the floor, breaking her nose. She laments her run of bad luck to Mark, who assures her he'll still be her friend who sleeps with her, after her nose heals.

Lexie has second thoughts as she's about to make the first incision on Sadie. "This is a really bad idea," she says, "This is a very stupid thing, a thing I'm sure we will all regret, possibly from jail." But Sadie, who's under a local anesthetic, makes the first incision herself. When it appears her appendix is inflamed, one of the interns says they should call a resident, but Sadie refuses, telling her, "If you can't handle it, leave!"

The surgery on Sadie goes terribly wrong and all the interns bail, leaving Lexie to beg Meredith for her help. She and Cristina are shocked to see Sadie open on the table in the outpatient room. The intern who's been left in charge says, "I think she's dying."

Cristina and Meredith take over, but insist on sending for Miranda, who talks Cristina through the surgery. When George hears about it, he asks Lexie why she didn't come to him for help. "This wasn't about you," she tells him. "This is the one thing in the last few months that wasn't about getting you to notice me." She walks away and one of the interns tells George, "Dude, she's, like, in love with you. How did you miss that?"

Richard praises Cristina and Meredith for saving Sadie's life, but Lexie, who thinks the Chief is reprimanding them, bursts in to say it was all her fault and that Cristina had told her to "shut it down" the day before. "You knew about this yesterday?" Richard thunders. Meredith is even madder that Cristina didn't tell her about what the interns were doing, but Cristina snaps back, "You didn't have my back in that room. You have a relationship with the Chief, but you didn't say anything to defend me."

"Effective immediately, everyone here is on probation. So much as sneeze, and you're done," Meredith tells the interns. Alex says they've lost his respect and jumps on an intern who says, "You seem to still respect Izzie Stevens, and she killed a patient." "She was trying to save a man's life. You almost killed a friend for fun," Alex yells. "There's a difference."

Miranda tells Callie she envies the interns their enthusiasm and that her operations have become "rote" and "boring." "Maybe I'm just tired of it," she says and Callie says she feels the same.

Meredith chews out Sadie for her reckless behavior. "What the hell is going on with you?" she asks and Sadie admits, "I don't know."

Owen is finally prompted to act on his feelings towards Cristina. He shows up at her doorstep and tells her, "I think you're beautiful."

Derek asks Meredith to stop bringing home "strays" like Sadie, but after Lexie's disastrous day, he brings her back to the house, partly so that Mark doesn't hit on "little Grey."

Izzie tells Alex, "I'm a mess." His response: "I can handle the mess," and that he's not going anywhere. "I'm sorry, I can't," she tells Denny, who says he'll be "right here."

Grey Matter

Joan Rater On "In The Midnight Hour"...

Original Airdate: 11-20-08

Okay, it’s a little crazy to try to take out an appendix. I get that. I think Lexie and Sadie and all the interns get that. IT’S CRAZY TO TAKE OUT AN APPENDIX! But here’s the thing – it’s the middle of the night. And an appendectomy is the easiest surgery you can do. And they’ve seen them done a lot. And they’ve done them on the practice dummy guy, IStan. And they’re competitive and feel like their residents aren’t letting them do anything and, I think it bears repeating … it’s the middle of the night. When all things are possible. It’s not the middle of the night as I write this, but it’s late, 11 pm, and I’m feeling like maybe I’ll wake up early and exercise before work. I probably won’t, cause like … um … I never have … but it’s late and under cover of darkness … all things feel possible.

Which brings me to Izzie. I’ll get back to the interns because more needs to be said – THEY TOOK OUT SADIE’S APPENDIX!- but Izzie … Izzie just touched Denny -- talking, breathing, right here in her bedroom Denny – and she’s just sitting there at the beginning of the episode wondering what’s going on, it’s not possible that he’s here, because he died, but he’s here and he’s talking and now he’s walking toward her and now he’s unbuckling his belt and …. Crazy. Unreal. Impossible. But …. I think Izzie is thinking that tonight she’s going to let this be possible. In the confines of her room she’s going to let this be real. But it’s complicated and scary. She and Alex are finally good, really good and so what is this, why is Denny here, why can’t she just move on? And I think she thinks she will -- tomorrow, in the morning, as I’m exercising, she’ll be all moving on and stuff, but tonight …. Tonight why can’t she just let miracles happen, turn off her scientist brain and just be in that moment, the two of them, finally alone together? And by the way, I don’t think she thinks it’s cheating on Alex. I really don’t. Because Denny’s dead. Whatever this is, whatever he is, Izzie knows this isn’t real, she KNOWS that, but it feels real and she just … closes her eyes and, you heard the sounds coming from the room, as Meredith said, it sounded kinda porny, so whatever’s going on with the dead guy, the sex is good at least … But by morning, in the light of day, when appendixes have been removed and you realize you can’t stay in your room with your dead ex-boyfriend forever, she chooses Alex and it’s sad as she looks at Denny who seems sad, but he gets it, after all he’s “here for her …”

Back to the appendix. Sadie’s appendix. Did you hear Sadie say to Lexie that Meredith is wrong about her, maybe Lexie isn’t such a priss? And the look on Lexie’s face, “Meredith thinks I’m a priss?” And that is what takes Lexie over the edge in the middle of the night and makes her go, yeah, we can do this, why not? How hard can it be to take out an appendix?

Sidenote- I had these hedges, really overgrown. And my husband, who usually trims the hedges wasn’t home, so I said to myself, how hard can it be to trim hedges? I trimmed one side and then the other, and then I had to even out the first side and then I cut too much and had to go back and then the whole thing looked like CRAP but I had to fix it and then I just started whacking away like a crazy person and then my husband came home and said in a voice that he usually reserves for our 5 year old. “Honey, put down the hedge clippers and step away from the hedge.”

I think that’s what happened a little. In the OR as opposed to my front yard. Things were fine and then they weren’t and when Meredith and Cristina walked into that horrible scene and saw Sadie on the table and intern Ryan and Lexie just looking shellshocked and horrified, it was like, “Put down the scalpel and step away from the table”.

Here’s what I love – Meredith and Cristina rocked that surgery. They stayed calm, they did it, and in doing so they showed everyone – the Chief, Bailey, themselves -- how far they’ve come as doctors. And Bailey was there to see it and take a little bit of pride in the fact that she raised her babies, she taught them right from wrong, now it’s their turn to do the same thing to their interns …

Speaking of Bailey, how about the scene with her and Callie where she talks about how she’s come to resent the appendix for getting infected and needing to removed? She resents a surgery that our residents are so excited to perform. And that gives her pause. Seeing their passion, missing that passion in herself, makes her wonder if maybe she needs a change …

And Mark and Derek. I love their friendship. And I think Mark does too, which is why he doesn’t want to mess it up. But seriously – he didn’t think of Lexie in THAT WAY until Derek mentioned it. It is Derek’s fault. But when we find out how Derek’s mom took Mark in, took in a stray, we see a new side of Mark and I’ve got to say, I love it. That he sees how in distress Lexie is and tells Derek to take her home … or he will …

Meredith and Cristina’s fight. Cristina lost the solo surgery and feels that it’s unfair that she should take the hit for this, that Meredith should have stood up for her more, but I get when Meredith asks, “what did you want me to say?” Meredith’s friend almost died, Meredith’s “sort of but not really” sister is probably going to get kicked out of the program … and Cristina knew intern fight club was going on?!! I like that they are both right and that there are no easy answers and that it’s complicated and messy.

Speaking of complicated … um … Major Dr. Owen Hunt. Complicated. And tortured. Words fail him all night, so that when he finally finds his words and tells Cristina he thinks she’s beautiful … it’s so surprising and nice and she gets this look on her face. It’s like she softens for just a split second. It’s not what she was expecting to hear, he’s not who she thought he was, and I like that they are both complicated and they sit on the stoop as the sun comes up on a new day and they can just be quiet together.

Because that’s the thing about morning. It eventually comes and when it does, your life and the people in it, who you’ve become, decisions you’ve made either look good by the light of day or just illuminate how far off course you’ve gone.

Izzie realizes she can’t stay holed up in her room, Ggeorge opens his eyes to the fact that Lexie has been in love with him and he’s been so preoccupied he hasn’t seen it, Derek realizes that he needs to “bring home a stray” and when he does, Meredith is grateful. Alex tells Izzie, I can handle your crazy, if you want to break up with me, that’s on you. It’s like the residents are growing up, especially in comparison to the interns who probably just wish they could take it all back.

So … it’s morning as I finish this. And I didn’t get up early. The alarm went off and I decided I’d sleep in. But tonight’s another night, filled with possibilities, and I bet I’ll set that alarm again and one of these days, maybe, it’s possible, I’ll get to the gym and work out. How hard can it be?

Grey's Anatomy: Episode 5.9 "In the Midnight Hour" Recap (Page 1/4) - November 20, 2008
Grey's Anatomy starts with the Seattle skyline at night. I guess it's all about nighttime and monsters tonight. We see flashes of scenes which I am presuming will end the episode.

But anyway, let's start from the beginning. It's the same night as it was in last week's episode of Grey's Anatomy. Izzie (Katherine Heigl) and Denny (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) just kissed, which is making her freak out and think she's going crazy. Well, um, yeah, she kind of is. Denny suggests that they test her sanity by going all the way to home base, which they never got to do while he was alive. He takes his shirt off, as I swoon.

Cristina (Sandra Oh) goes to the hospital in the middle of the night because she heard that there might be a possible appendectomy. The first solo surgery is often an appy, so she's just trying to get a leg up on the competition. It's pouring out, in a very un-Seattle way. Seattle rains are usually very well-mannered. It's more mist than rain, you know. But anyway, Cristina runs into Major McHottie (Kevin McKidd) outside the hospital who awkwardly tries to make small talk or, you know, at least acknowledge their major kiss from last week's Grey's Anatomy, but he can't. Cristina doesn't have time for his waffling and breezes right past him.......cont’d

'Grey's Anatomy': Crazy/Beautiful - Nov 21, 2008
The ghost of Denny still won't leave, and the interns won't stop slicing each other open. At least Callie and Cristina get to enjoy an always-welcome reminder
This whole show feels a bit like it's suffering the same kind of crazy Izzie is: seeing dead people, going off on tangents, not making a whole lot of sense. I mean, I say this because — like Alex — I care. I like Grey's Anatomy. I like it so much that I hold it to a higher standard than your basic hospital show or soap. I'm rooting for it to pull itself together.
But we're now into sweeps month. This is not how Grey's should look during sweeps. Or at all, of course, but especially now.
First, and most egregiously, there was this Denny nonsense. Izzie is now having sex with dead people. This could've packed some kind of punch if: a. It were closer to the time of his death — a year ago at the very, very latest. (Let's face it: I would've welcomed this over the George affair; it's all relative evils here.) Or b. This hadn't been done to much greater effect in a little movie called Ghost. At this point, why don't we just break out the pottery wheel and call it an homage? Because otherwise it just seems like a lame attempt to revive a very popular, resonant plotline that worked a few seasons ago. The one up side: At least this time he wasn't wearing a fishing sweater. ..........cont’d

'Grey's Anatomy': Midnight madness - Nov 21 2008
What a bumpy night it was for "Grey's Anatomy."
Lexie and her secret society decided to remove new intern Sadie’s appendix and nearly killed her in the process. BFF’s Cristina and Meredith saved the day but then turned on each other in a blowout fight. Mark revealed he had awful, disinterested parents. George finally got the memo that Lexie’s in love with him. And a self-proclaimed “married, betrayed, gay, abandoned” Callie mused that things surely couldn’t get any worse, only to have her nose broken by a freaked out patient with night terrors. ......... cont’d

‘Grey’s’ interns get off easy after a close call - Nov 21, 2008
What exactly does it take to get fired from Seattle Grace?
Intern-al medicine: The interns, who were so recently dabbling in blood-taking and sutures, escalated their secret project by performing first an epidural and then an appendectomy. Exhibitionist Sadie naturally volunteered, and when Lexie flinched at the slicing moment, Sadie simply opened her own abdomen to move things along.
Naturally, Sadie’s surgery went south when she actually turned out to have an inflamed appendix, making her whimsical surgery rather serious. Lexie fetched Meredith, while Cristina wised up on her own after finding the still-numb Epidural Guy. Both burst into the interns’ Frankenbasement just in time to hear that Sadie was dying. They called in Bailey, who helped repair the botched surgery, which the interns had apparently done with safety scissors and glue sticks. This all somehow led to Meredith and Cristina fighting, George noticing that Lexie is in love with him, and Bailey hating general surgery because she resents the appendix. Seriously. ....... more

Grey's Anatomy Episode Recap: "In the Midnight Hour" - Nov 21, 2008
This week on Grey's Anatomy, the interns take their secret society one step too far and Izzie finds herself torn between two lovers.
Here we are, one week later, and Denny Duquette still seems just as real, if not more so, than ever before. So, just how is it possible that Izzie can hear the sound of Denny's beating heart, when that organ had been removed during his autopsy many moons ago? I don't want to believe that Izzie is really sick (physically or psychologically), so now I'm leaning toward the theory that Izzie is playing catch-up with her emotions. Maybe she never fully grieved the loss of Denny and their relationship, and now she must experience those emotions before she can truly move on and commit to Alex....cont’d

Grey's Anatomy: In the Midnight Hour - Nov 21st 2008
(S05E09) "Who's making a porno movie in Izzie's room?" - Derek
I am an unashamed Grey's Anatomy fan. I've watched it since the very beginning. At this point, it'd be hard for me stop because I feel like I've invested too much time to just say the hell with it smack in the middle of the show's fifth season. A season which I went from loving, to hating, to loving, and now to absolutely despising. So for those of you who seem to think that I shouldn't be writing weekly reviews of this show because "I don't seem to like it very much, well, I assure you that's just not the case. I complain because I love. Based on that, I really loved this episode.
I think I speak for the rest of America when I ask, why the F is Denny still hanging around? It's like one big unending cross-over episode with The X-Files. He and Izzie were making out, touching, kissing... having sex? What?!? And he just keeps blabbing "I'm here for you." Care to elaborate, Mr. Duquette?
Denny is dead(!), and you know what the worst part is? Shonda Rhimes confirmed that Izzie doesn't have some wacko brain tumor! Got any other theories? I give up, but I tell ya - this had better clear up fast, because it has become by far, the most distracting, unrealistic, and annoying thing about this show, and it's been going on for three weeks now! I honestly can't think of how this could have a satisfying ending. Pull a Hahn and just have him be gone next week. Please. Sloan having a relationship with a barcalounger would be more enjoyable than this.

'Grey's Anatomy': Lexie goes rogue surgeon in the basement - Nov 21, 2008
The Grey's Anatomy Meredith Grey Voiceover this week is about adult monsters: self-doubt, regret, etc. It leads us into Denny and Izzie getting to do something they never got to do in real life. And the clothes come off! Bomp-chicka-wah-wah.
Christina arrives at the hospital to wait for a trauma coming in and Dr. Hunt tries to engage her in conversation. He's nervous as a schoolboy.
Sadie finds Meredith reading her mother's journals, saying if she weren't Ellis Grey's daughter, she probably would've liked her because she was funny, intense and a lot like Christina. Out in the hall, everyone hears Izzie moaning in ecstasy and Alex knocks on the door. She begs off, saying she's sick with the flu.
Seattle Grace. Meredith, Christina, George and Alex all jump at the appendectomy. Bailey sends George with Hunt and a trauma victim, Alex off with another doctor, and tells Mere and Christina to jump in on the surgery. Down in the basement, the interns are practicing on each other some more. This time it involves an epideral and the Crazy-Ass Interns decide they should do an appendectomy themselves. Sadie and Lexie are spearheading this jaunt into Crazyville, with Sadie volunteering to be the patient............ cont’d

Dead Denny Livens Up Grey's Anatomy Ratings - Nov 21, 2008
The chick magnet still has it. The guest-star thing still isn't working for Tina Fey.
Last night's Grey's Anatomy dominated among women and adults 18-49, Nielsen estimates said. Overall, the episode, featuring another curious appearance by Izzie's dearly beloved—and dead—Denny, scored with 15.7 million, up nearly 1 million from last week.
30 Rock's latest foray into Will & Grace territory—Steve Martin was this week's stunt guest, after Oprah Winfrey and Jennifer Aniston—recorded the show's latest down week (7.3 million).
The return of Toby to The Office was greeted by 8.4 million, up a tick from last week. The show was NBC's biggest comedy in viewers and adults 18-49.
With ABC on a cancellation binge, Life on Mars (8 million) did well to stay even with last week. But it still ran third in the demo behind ER (9.1 million overall) and Eleventh Hour (10.7 million overall).
CSI did its thing—it got killed in the key demos by Grey's but won the night in viewers (18.4 million, down from last week).
