How many of us are there? There are a couple people I see occasionally nowadays. As clear as I can tell, there's very little happening organizationally. I'd like to do something to remedy this. I'd like to take some steps to improve this, but I'd like to know what our board thinks would make the MWS community stronger. I think it would be awesome to have an MWS hobby league night - a 3-4 hour period where people can expect to have a game. We can even forecast different formats regularly. Tournaments are good, but they can often falter and fade after a couple weeks. Too often scheduling conflicts between players mean a round doesn't get played or people forfeit because they are too busy. If you have a preferred time to play, post what times are good and what time zone you are in. Vs Online is worldwide baby. I'm not an IT guy so I haven't offered too much help with getting people installed. I have had a great deal of trouble installing MWS and updating it myself. Is there one person who would like to volunteer to help new converts, should we have any? I have noticed a thread or two about it but it hasn't resulted in seeing any new players, and it bugs me that it's not something I can offer a lot of help towards. If you have MWS installed and are able to play, how often are you able to find a game and/or find time? If you would like to play Vs online, what can I do to help? Well, I'm on fairly frequently, as time allows. I always thought it would be awesome to have an online hobby league type thing. I would definately be a part of that. For me, it would have to be sometime in the evening/night though, because of work. But I would DEFINATELY be a part of that. As far as helping new recruits, I would be willing to answer any questions, but I'm not the most knowledgable guy around. I know Zuranthium knows a heck of a lot about it. Is he still around? |

I think the point of setting a time for a hobby league would do everything to maximize attendance. I'll use this post to summarize possible "hobby league" nights. Once we've established who wants to attend and when, it would be productive to pick one time to do it. I hope we can please as many people as possible to get as many people on as we can. If you have a suggestion for a time, let me in on it! Suggestions for hobby league time:
I'm so darned ethnocentric! conyk, I just assumed you were from North America. Is that correct? Edited by bkwrds, May 16 2009, 08:07 PM.

I'm still around here on .org and, once in a blue moon due to college, will drop into MWS but there's rarely ever anyone on when I do so. However, with college out, I'll be trying to jump in more often. Especially if we set up an honest-to-goodness "hobby league" night. For me, any time will work at the moment (until I get Summer commitments, at least). I live in the EST time zone, tend to be online until 1:00 a.m. As far as actual days, I'd say a weekday evening would probably work out best. I know most people spend the weekend either out and about or working on home stuffs whereas weeknights tend to be more open to more people. |

Whew! Not all of my favourite opponents have left for good. It seems to be the consensus so far is from 8pm until 1am EST, and on a weeknight. Monday and Friday nights are bad for me. I'm going to keep bumping this thread until the middle of the week because I think there's a lot of guys that only come here when they can post on company time. |

I was wondering where everybody went. I'm on to play generally between 7 and 10 pm EST on weekdays. Weekends vary. |

So that's four for primetime on weeknights. That's awesome. I was just about to bump this thread. Also: we should pick a format for our first month/two-week period/whichever. Would anyone be adversed to doing DC Alter Ego? This was a crazy day for me -- it's a holiday here so I worked 22 hours for the extra pay, but this week I hope to cobble together a new "install MWS" thread so that we can gain new converts. I'd like to hear more from our non-MWS brethren. Who has not installed and what can we do to get them on our side? Anyone? |

DC Alter Ego sounds great. The only thing I would mention is that when we did a DC Alter Ego Tourney, The Joker was a little OP. He has a very large advantage, in the situation that The Joker player plays Insanity, because he can use all of his plot twists and his opponents can't. I understand that that's the way it was supposed to be (I guess), but in practice, it just made a lot of people angry. Again, I'm personally not opposed to it, but after the tourney, there was some bitterness toward the Joker alter ego. |

I lost interest in the alter ego format after seeing the Joker, too. It just seemed like you'd almost have to go Insanity in self-defense. I really didn't like the idea behind the format. I don't have MWS installed. I keep meaning to, but haven't taken the time. I pretty much just run golden age theme decks of my own creation though, which may not be the format or power level people are looking for. |

DC Alter Ego was just an idea, as I never played it. We could always edit the Joker Ego so he does something else, or do another format entirely. I was just hoping for something fun. I liked BYOTT a lot, and I'm always into playing Little Deck or even Big Deck. Whatever's easiest. Grumga, most of the deck I use nowadays are Golden Age theme decks. There's a lot of busted decks that can be built using GA but most of the GA I've played with and against seems to be mono-team decks that are only GA because they use cards from other sets. When I've wanted to test a GA deck that I've built for fun and lost badly, my opponent is often willing to help by finding a similar deck that they have. That said, if people want to play busted GA, that should be OK too. Most of the time when I suggest GA as a format I tell them if my deck is busted or not. When I use my Kang Curve deck I don't really want to see High Voltage, but if somebody wants to play New School against a TNB deck I'd be happy to help in that regard too. Today is a wicked busy day for me but I'm going to look into assembling all of our info about installing MWS in one place so that we can get some new players. |

GA Casual sounds great to me. I actually got pulled into a GA game yesterday against someone I didn't recognize. I decided I'd test out my JLI/Outsiders pile. Turns out guy was playing Quickfate. Somehow, my jank ends up winning thanks to the powers of Looker, The Castle (Free reinforcement on a char each turn = Quickfate death), and three copies of Justice League Task Force. Good times. And, for the record, I'll probably be out of commission on the MWS scene for a week or three. My personal laptop's charger is shot and none of the other bricks in the house are compatible so I have to wait for a new one in the mail. Go figure that it's right as the MWS scene is picking up that the only laptop with the program bites it... |

LOVE this idea! I'm making this a sticky thread. As for me - my life is kinda crazy at nights with baby and other responsibilities, so I'm fine with letting others pick the time and just trying to get on if I can. But I'd love to do this! |
