As you may have seen, we're getting a new player here and there. In many cases, CCGers are finding bargains on booster boxes and taking a chance on Vs. I'd love to stick a post up that new players can go to to read up on how to play/basic strategies/cool articles/how to set up MWS/a history of the game/etc.

What do you think would be helpful to new players? Post links when possible (and thanks in advance for your help).

I'm not sure how current it is but there's always the Wikipedia Page for it. It's a good overview of the game as a whole.

And then there's all of the Metagame articles, which are hard to get to as of right now, but are gold once you get to them.

Are the metagame articles still gonna be taken down sometime?

Funny you should ask. I did a quick search for "Metagame + Darkseid" and "Metagame + Superman" and while I got google results, all the links were dead. So maybe it's gone already... [weep]

Does anyone have the other decklists?
Check out the event coverage archives at Metagame.com. The main site is no longer up, but you can "sneak" into the Event coverage page:

http://www.metagame.com/vs.aspx?tabid=53

The 2004-2005 tournaments will have lists for all of the decks that you're looking for.

Good ol Bigspooky. He posted this last month in a thread regarding oldschool decklists.

Hope it still works. I can't tell cause it blocked at work. [sad]

Nope. Says the address could not be found.

Damn, I was hoping someone could get their hands on the articles before it was too late.

I'll check with Bigspooky and see if he knows. I'm sure that if anyone can it would be him.

Metagame.com doesn't exist anymore ...

I heard UDE made metagame.com to get around a contractual agreement with Konami to not do yugioh coverage or something.

Just checked with Bigspooky and OSM is right. Metagame is down for good. He did however suggest the articles and coverage over at www.vssystem.com as a good place as well. I'm not sure if this would help out new players as much but there is lots of content available for anyone willing to take the time to search and read through it.

How many of the Metagame/VS System.com writers still visit these forums?

I still have all the articles I wrote for those two sites and would happily share them ... it's just that my articles were more flavour oriented and probably not of that much interest.

Would other writers a) still have their articles and b) be happy to share them on this new website in some way?

Just a thought.

So no one/nowhere has a backup of the metagame.com articles? I was hoping to find the articles on the evolution of faces of evil. That's a lot of VS history that just went poof. Thanks again UDE...

As a returning player, I'd like a site that had an update of what's going in the game right now. Like what the top decks are and how they work (it usually isn't too hard to figure out, but newer players may not know).

As a noob, a site like this would be EXTREMELY helpful to me and others. It should contain the basic and advanced rules, search engine for the cards, help forum, and other things. This are just suggestions. [cyclon]
