I mean, you could. It wouldn't be the worst deck in the world.

That said... all the best X-Statix cards are not as good as the Hulk versions. Spin Doctoring or Righteous Anger? I guess you'd get 4 more Hulk Reds out of Dead Weight... and you can add the no targeting thing with Star/Mutant of the Year.

I just wonder which X-Statix cards in particular you're hoping to add, because the Hulk cards are better for the most part. That would really inform which direction we're headed in. Just Café and Star/Mutant?

Another thing is: All the Hulk-Boost effects do not match up with the X-Statix HQ.

I've played it. It's good, because World War Hulk doesn't require you to play with any Statix characters.

It was basically a normal Warbound deck, with Spin Doctoring, Mutant of the Year, Star of the Show and X-Statix Cafe. Mainly to give him (and you) protection from effects. The stat boost from the Cafe is nice, though not that big a deal. Spin Doctoring is always good, of course. Oh, and I also had a copy or two of O-Force, just because it's fun to force your opponent to attack your stupidly huge Hulk with his entire board.

Though, it was only casual, so it might be different for a competitive deck. And I don't have a full set of all the Hulk rares, so didn't have any Righteous Angers. (Can RA actually be used as a recovery effect? From what I see it can't, because you've got to stun Hulk to get it to work. Based on that, I think Spin Doctoring definately offers something over RA.)

I still prefer XStatix/VU... like, you can't beat Science Spire. Hulk would seriously love Star of the Show (he can already play Mutant). But for raw card drawing, Science Spire is just silly. Plus, they have the easiest teamup to find in existence. I would splash 8-drop Hulk (he's easy enough to use a spare Coersion to get teamed up).

I also don't like the "build abilities" guys that much; and hulk sucks without them. It just doesn't stall as well as VU; Mr. Freeze and Fatality and Dr. Polaris do a far better job at keeping your solo theme going against opponents.

Hulk does combo well (as a solo deck) with Apocolypse however; they can simply afford to skip more turns to shift out guys than XStatix can.

And Spin Doctor is far, far better than RA; IMHO it's the best recovery effect ever created.

Big issue with EITHER solo deck is PA/Omnipotence pretty much ruin them; I hate these cards for their effect on so many control decks :(.
